      Stick with Garmin is what I'd do. I got rid of mine. I know 2 other people personally that weren't happy with RM either.

    I noticed the Garmin displays the mile markers. Are you able to add custom maps that would display the 100blocks of residential areas. It would be used for a police cruiser.

      I don't think so. I think a car or city type GPS would work for that maybe. But actually I can switch this to car routes though too. I'll mess with it a little after my day is over tonight and see. I'll come back and post later and let you know

      I did not see anything displaying the block numbers or anything like that.

    I just got my Overdryve 8 Pro 2 a couple days ago. I'm already worried about software issues. I already had to factory reset it 3x after it tried to update cuz it would freeze. I also put a SD card in it and it doesn't recognize the SD card is in it either. When I enter addresses, half the time it can't find them. Starting to wish I listened to the poor reviews I read about it before I bought it.

      I haven't had any of those issues with it. Maybe try to exchange it for a different one? Was the wifi connection good when updating? I know when I tried updating mine I did have issues doing it because the signal was weak.

    • @88Petry
      @88Petry 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jbstuff I used a strong home wifi signal. Seems to be working fine now, minus the SD card issue. Hopefully no more hiccups.

      @@88Petry the SD card, I know I used to have a problem in my camera with a card that was already used. I had to buy a new one to get it to work. Took me forever to figure that out. Then I bought the wrong card due to not knowing it needed to be a certain speed or whatever. Had to return it and get another. 🙄

      @jbstuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@88Petry I don't remember. I know it's a 32gb card. I know I asked them about it on Twitter when I was trying to figure it out and they answered pretty quick. If I'm not mistaken the speed didn't matter but I can't say for sure.

    Dude when I used to own Rand Mcnally 740 when it was functioning correctly it was a really good navigational device but it would freeze up at least once a week for updates and I'd have to pull in a truckstop hook up to their wifi and wait 2-3 hours til it finished uploading. Needless to say I switched to garmin dezl and never had that problem again

    • @jbstuff
      @jbstuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm still pretty happy with the Garmin. I haven't been out of my truck in 21 months. It serves its purpose I guess. 😂

      @@jbstuffyou’ve been OTR for almost 2 years straight? Not going back home? Is this common for otr drivers nowadays?

    • @jbstuff
      @jbstuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a personal choice. I stayed in my truck for 23 months. Been driving with my CDL for 8 years. I actually just quit driving probably shortly after you left this comment. I'm back in NM now. No it's not pretty standard for drivers to do that. I didn't have to pay rent or a mortgage or anything related to that so I stayed in my truck and paid off alot of stuff and helped out a couple other people with money. I'm done now though. Time to get back in shape and live life as much as I can.

    The rand mcnally I just got has already on the first trip tried to put me on a 5 ton road and it's no different from Google maps at this point and my td520 won't put you on any road you shouldn't be on and I refuse to update my td520 also the overdryve you can turn off u turns

    • @jbstuff
      @jbstuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      I got rid of my RM and only use the Garmin now. That RM used to tell me to do uturns even when the option was turned off. I had a RM 730 years ago and it was waaay better than either GPS in this video.

    What about wrong turns, do you happen to have one of those.
    I have same route every day, and google does better job than Garmin Dezel 1000.
    Also how could you send to Garmin multiple 🛑.
    Thanks

    • @jbstuff
      @jbstuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not completely sure what you mean but I do remember when I first started using the Garmin it would always take me on goofy routes. After going to the same places a couple different times I think it started tracking my path or maybe saving it. I have zero problems with my Garmin anymore and I've been using it pretty much daily since whenever I said I bought it. I haven't been out of my truck in almost 18 months so it gets used quite a bit.

    • @jbstuff
      @jbstuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're asking how to put multiple stops on your route, after you pick the first one just go pick another route then choose the option to add as next stop or last stop instead of new.
      And I would not use Google maps for anything truck driving related since Google doesn't map truck routes. I've used it for reference many times though. It's great for a secondary opinion.

      @@jbstuff correct, it's what I do.... I just don't have time to creat a stop list... I'll give it a shoot as you had suggested. Thanks

    • @jbstuff
      @jbstuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      Create a stop list? It's literally touching the screen 2 or 3 times if you have the locations saved already. It takes 1.5 seconds. But yeah, if you look around on TH-cam there's a couple in depth videos on the functions of the Garmin gps's to. It goes through everything step by step. Be safe!

    @michaelbierlein5642 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yep, they all suck but an experienced driver can see through the bs they show in their routing. I’ve just gotten used to the ignorant stuff and try to look past what it shows. I check my route against my atlas and use google for reference.
