I saw someone somewhere mention that the design of Gundam EX seems like a skeleton, to sell that "White Devil bringing Death" to Zeon forces. So in a way, this is quite literally THE MechaGaikotsu.
Ever since I saw the kits for Requiem for Vengeance I was sold on owning them, I truly and desperately hope that Bandai gives us the GM and Gouf Custom from this series in kit form.
Except the fact that it has way too many details on the surface. If people start out the hobby with this kit's design in mind, it will be hard for them to appreciate the older kits aesthetic & the experience old kits bring to the table. So. It's more like a pretty nice standalone display model than a start point.
@ducpham1478 i do agree, I started building these type of kits in the 90's. But it does seem the case though people do complain about the older kits. And this seems to be the case with most parts the model building hobby. We sort of are part of the hobby when we started. As person that started years ago looks at kits different than someone who started later. As we have different expectations.
A friend who got his hands on this and the Zaku Solari have said that it works well alongside the 1/144 RX-78-F00 with dock in detail level and appearance.
I personally quite like that Requiem for Vengeance designs take advantage of the 3D animation they're done in. Sure, they could've stuck with the typical UC aesthetic, but those traditional anime designs had to be meticulously stream-lined to work practically within their medium. Having this opportunity and choosing to do something different, I respect that.
I'm really excited for this kit. I loved the design the moment I saw the Gundam EX and after watching Reqium for Vengeance, I love it even more. I absolutely loved how menacing and scary it was. It was like a slasher villain the entire show. Very well done. I plan on giving this kit the full treatment: panel line, paint, and weathering. Definitely panel-lining the runners before snipping, given the insane amounts of detail.
Can’t wait until these are available in the UK- I know the overly-complex visual design isn’t to everyone’s taste, but it’s definitely to mine! Just praying that we get a GM kit based on the same design in future (I think we do see a “GM EX” in the show).
Watched RFV the day it came out, and had to buy this kit immediately, i only collect 1/100 but I needed some beautiful plastic from that show asap. Loved the kit so much I put all the decals on, then got a black paint pen and went crazy with weathering, scuff marks and ofc panel lining. Then sprayed a matte top coat on it, and I must say, absolute chefs kiss.
I'd love to see you do : 1. A comparisons between this kit with 30mm armored core kits, HG the origins & RGs since they have an exquisite surface details. 2. Weapon swap. 3. Parts compatibilities (limbs, backpack, head, etc). Thanks for the video Mecha gaikotsu, I thoroughly enjoyed how you build the kit by building the inner frame first. Keep up the great work!
At 11:39 the wrist joint is similar to the HGUC V2 gundam, not sure if that’s the exact wrist being recalled because it has a ball joint as well as the wrist moving, but it’s the closest thing that comes to mind
I thought the design reminded me of the Seravees which i built recently, but not quite actually. Both the NG 1/100 & the HG 1/144 have a point of articulation in the forearm that utilizes a polycap, but they differ from there. The actual wrist of the NG is a peg, while the HG has a ball joint. Considering Mecha built the HG within the last 5 years like he said, the Ex might have reminded him of that a bit.
Eh the fights are kinda garbage in choreography but it's pretty when it comes to the environments. The story was kinda meh too but I'm glad you liked it
I've enjoyed the show so far. Love the kit detail, it's almost halfway between hg & rg. The show is going to be great for weathering ideas. A panel lining dream for sure.
I built the EX and Zaku over the past 2 weekends. I love the intricate design of the EX and the sturdiness of the Zaku, both are sooooo nice. I noticed one other thing, the plastic feels a little tougher but softer than other Gundam kits, it feels exactly like the grade of plastic used in the Stand versions of the newer Goku and Vegeta kits. *I put the decals on the Zaku, but the decals for the EX are best pulled and applied with a large sewing needle, they're so tiny.
This is the most realistic looking gundams out there. It's up there with the A packs narrative as one of my favorite designs, it looks like something we could build in real life in the near future with a limited budget, not caring about aesthetics, only function. This is a ww2 war machine, its only intended purpose is to kill
Compared to other Gundams this is one of the most realistic, there isn’t much color or over the top design . The most unrealistic thing in is the beam saber
i am diving into gunplas for the first time ever, this summer i bought gundam mk2 aeug and yesterday buster gundam even if they are very fragilecomplex to pose and they have a some difects in my opinion (i'm not an expert of course but to me it looks like it especially the buster gundam) i really like them and i'm proud of my choices, i watch every video of yours about gundams that took my curiosity, i just bought gunvolva online and while i wait for him tomorrow i will buy this building gunplas really makes me feel satisfied and it's a really rare feeling for me so i am very excited to know that this is more complex than the one i got because i wanna have a nice time
I have to say I've been watching your channel for quite a while now and this is probably one of the great reviews I've seen for a reason, you were like building the kit while reviewing it,, which is like 2 in 1 😆 I hope you continue reviewing kits this way whenever possible, probably take much more effort but it looks great. Secone thing, thin kit looks more like a RG Kit because of how the inner frame looks. I didn't expect it to have all that frame 👍 salute to Bandai.
Despite alot of people complaining about its face, i like this gundam. This and the zaku solari are must have kits for me. The most detailed HGs right now.
Every HG makes me more excited to see what they have instore for future HGs. Wonder if they will do any nuHG 2.0s for popular kits, I'd like to see some grunt kits from Wing, like the Aries.
I saw some guy building it on a live stream, and I honestly thought it was an unofficial kit kinda like that fake rg ibo kit he built a while back, but then the box said Bandai, and so I was more confused, because I had never seen the kit before
The peg type of manipulators are just like the HG TR-6 wounwort and the HG I remember with the same arm bend Joint like that is the HG GP-02, HG plutone, HG cherudim, HG Qan T, HG Seravee and Arios
Last time Bandai gave a high grade a very detailed inner frame (IBO Kits if I remember correctly), it didnt age very well and lead to dissapointingly floppy joints. I’m very curious to see if the requiem for vengeance kits will be different tbh.
bro your videos are awesome! You showing me these kits is finally gonna get me to buy these 😄. That is when they're finally available 😭. I want both the AC6 and This particular Gundam model kit!!!! Honestly, I WAS gonna skip this kit. However, I'm starting to appreciate and enjoy the design in ways that the production images failed to do. Those legs and that backpack be smexy looking. That backpack design is especially awesome looking.
Seeing that almost an inner frame remind me of some real grades. XI Gundam doesn't have a ball joint connection for the wrist but instead it was a peg. And for that rocking part of the wrist RG Nu and Hi-Nu Gundam has that similar wrist movement. This was probably a combination of this 2 mechanics.
That inner frame is going to be the birth of some amazing customs. I can't wait to see the Zaku, if it has an inner frame. Bandai just created the perfect platform for resin kits, original designs, etc. Cheap too, compared to MG frames.
id honestly love to see a little comparison show between this and the rg gramps 2.0 - see where the current pinnacle of real grade stands against the same of high grade
EX doesn't have a core fighter; it uses the core block tech. It was designed to look like a skeleton/death motiff to play up on the Zeon's fear of the White Devil of the Federation moniker that THE Gundam originated. They make a comment in one of the episodes of the show about how "...heard of a machine called the Gundam..." and what not; they don't know it's NOT THE Gundam, lol, it's just "a" Gundam. Also, the beam rifle is the same as the Guncannon's beam rifle - it's a prototype design to the RX-78-2's actual beam rifle. I really enjoyed RfV.
His muzzle reminds me of a Mortal Kombat Ninja's mask, like how Noob Saibot's mask looked in MK 9. I've just noticed now how top heavy this Gundam looks, like he's got a really wide upper body.
Am I the only one that enjoys a little break from full inner frame builds sometimes? One of the nice things about a high grade is the simplicity. I guess what I’m saying is more full mechanics.
This kit seems to be inching towards the quality of early Real Grade kits. I'm impressed to say the least. I hope this becomes more of the norm. That big toe adds to the 'real' aspect since you do need your big toe for balance.
I find it crazy that HGs can have inner frames nowadays. The only HGs I've built are the older ones like the HGUC granddaddy revive. But it seems like EG kits are even more advanced than those. HGs seem to be inching closer to RGs. Despite the (sometimes deserved) hate they get, Bandai does put a lot of innovation and engineering into their kits. The wrist is similar to the wrist of the MG 00 Raiser being attached by a peg and the mid forearm is where the bend is at. Don't know if that's the kit you're thinking of but it reminds me of that one.

The Season 1 Gundams from 00 (including variants like the Astreas) do not have this feature.
The EX went from a lukewarm oddball to one of my favs. It gets down to business and doesn't afraid of anything.
I think john gundam is a good guy, he fights robots and doesn't afraid of anything
Slayy queeeen 💅💅
I saw someone somewhere mention that the design of Gundam EX seems like a skeleton, to sell that "White Devil bringing Death" to Zeon forces. So in a way, this is quite literally THE MechaGaikotsu.
It also seems to have a lot of ideas from slasher/horror killers mixed in
🙌🔥🔥
I somehow only just now learnt that gaikotsu means skeleton!
If you look on the Gundam Wiki, it says that the designer said that it is "meant to evoke the image of a skeleton and bones".
"What are we, some kinda Mecha Gaikotsu?"
Ever since I saw the kits for Requiem for Vengeance I was sold on owning them, I truly and desperately hope that Bandai gives us the GM and Gouf Custom from this series in kit form.

the visor/camera detail on the GM was also cool, it would be neat if they ever make a kit for the guntank/tanks from the show
