As long as Bandai does not entirelyneglect the 1/100 scale and release great quality FM kits like the Aerial (which feels quasi-MG), then I'm fine too.
The fact this comes with a fully transformable Core Fighter, with so much detail, blew me away. I really hope this means we can get an RG ZZ Gundam with this kind of engineering in it
The question is how the legs flip and turn... For such a small size and complex transformations, there's no way they wouldn't slap the pre built Advanced MS Joint for that rite
Granted, they've had practice with making a transformable Core Fighter with the Impulse's Core Splendor (Hell, I'd even go so far as to say that the Splendor is more intricate than the OG Fighter).
I was ready to see how awesome this new RG RX-78-2 is, but mecha showing he can turn from a dog to a human at the beginning was something I was not prepared for.

so for some of the joints they basically removed the traditional pegs into hole type of connection. this drastically reduces the amount of parts needed. however unlike c-clips they wont get stressed out easily and benefits from added friction when the side walls rub against each other, making the joints stiffer
Something that I just thought about that could be really neat, is alternate battle damaged armor pieces. Have some armor parts cracked and deformed, some armor parts with open bullet holes to reveal inner frame detail, beam saber slashes or explosion streaks, etc. I think I'd pay extra every now and then for a + version of a big ticket kit that comes with all the regular armor parts, but then also a few extra trees with a bunch of alternate battle damaged armor parts. That would be so fun to paint up too

Man, the hype for this one is real. I can't wait to have and build one. I'm just waiting for the prices to go down as this is not yet available locally.

i cannot wait to get mine in the mail, this looks awesome. RG has surpassed MG. its easier to display/shelve, takes up less space, is perfewct for older gunpla builders who dont have room for giant display cases but want to build gunpla.
Some people say that the vulcans on the rg 2.0 are a bit out of place, making the head look a bit weird and the vulcans peek out half way, some people get around this by making small adjustments to make them gee out all the way to look better
This really makes me hope for a crossbone x3 RG and possibly a MUCH deserved full cloth RG. Currently there is NO full cloth kit representing the UC full cloth that isn't either an old impossible to find pbandai (hguc), a HUGE hand grenade (MG), isn't the UC version (hgbf) or doesn't need A LOT of color correction (actually all of them). I feel like bandai's black magic has finally reached a technical level where a decent full cloth can finally be achieved.
I've worked with AutoCAD before and honestly, this kind of engineering and design for inner frames on a model kit is insane. Idk what's holding Bandai back from making an RG/MG Atlas Gundam though
I really hope they release a version of this where the colored parts are in clear plastic, so you can still show off the inner frame once it's all put together.
I thought this was gonna be mid as hell just because it was a 1/144th scale RX-78-2 kit but I was immediately proven wrong in a heartbeat… I REALLY hope that they give this quality to other RG’s in the future or at the very least.. other RG 2.0s and this isn’t just special treatment for the OG because OH MY GOD!
Okay, who tried to bestow the Sharingan onto a Gundam, and why wasn't it Deathscythe-Hell or God Gundam or Exia!? This kit looks absolutely sick. And I fully expect a pearlescent finish (whether they call it metallic or whatever) repaint to come sooner rather than later; gotta milk the mold for all it's worth, after all. And despite how many parts it seems to have, it looks like it's a way simpler build than even the likes of RG Exia...😮😮😮😮😮😮 And the V-fin is basically attached to the baseball cap visor? Nice!!
the only thing I want to die happy is a Sinanju 2.0 also, while it's total a shot in the dark, I do wonder if it's able to use the broken RX78 arm/head parts that were included with the RG Zeong somehow

Including others that didn't last long after being built. ( Not saying that they WILL, but would be cool to see them upgraded one day.)
I wanna see a comparison between the old RG core fighter and new one, it should be the line of how technology improvement has done to it. And also, if it can, can you swap the head between the two? I felt like it's head is kinda small so if the old head is bigger we might get the most badass looking RG grand-daddy

In the grand scheme of Gunpla history (45ish years), RG is a relatively new line. Prior to RG, you had MG and HG (1/100 and 1/144 scale respectively). HG is smaller and thus more affordable but lacked the detail of MG kits which feature an inner frame that you layer the armor on top of. But because HG is smaller and lighter, the plastic is under less stess when posing and takes longer to be affected by gravity thereby making it more stable; particularly over time. One other risidual benefit of smaller scale is that as your collection grows, it takes up less shelf space when compared to larger scale. I have no proof to the following claim but I suspect that smaller scale has slowly, gradually become more favorable to hobbyists for the aforementioned reasons. So as @myhonestopinion3334 states, RG comes along in 2010 with the goal of bringing the inner frame and detail of the MG line to a smaller scale. It succeeded in doing so but to what extent is arguable at best; especially with their earlier entries which had spindly inner frames which could succumb to the same issues as MG kits. Later RG kits would have pseudo-innerframes where it sort of looks like an inner frame and the armor pieces would layer on top but they would do so with fairly shallow connections meaning that smaller pieces could be fiddly and fairly-easily fall off. Now, I haven't built this 2.0 but just watching this video and judging the build alongside past experience, it's obvious to me that this is essentially the RG line truly and fully meeting it's intended goal. Not only do you have a fully independent inner frame that is engineered to withstand the weight of the armor and posing, but you have engineering that makes it impossible for the armor pieces to fall off (assuming the structure of the engineering remains intact). "No falling V-fin" may sound like just a throwaway line to those new or unfamiliar to the hobby but what Mecha is referencing is an occurance that every builder has experienced since the dawn of gunpla. You have to understand that this describes what I thought was an inherent unsolvable problem with how kits are made--a limitation of injection molding at large. So to see them "solve" this problem holds massive implications not only about the improvements in injection molding but also illustrates that there are people at Bandai who are thinking about our hobby in ways that nobody has in decades. Tl;dr RG is relatively new to gunpla overall, this 2.0 is truly cutting edge and pretty much shakes the foundation of what builders thought was possible in the hobby
for a RG that is one beautiful version, its a shame that while it has all the same detailing that the PG has along that frame (I have the PG Unleashed on the table next to me) but no panels to pop open to see it! that would have been the icing on the cake I think, a true mini Perfect Grade.
ok yeah, I need this kit in the backlog holy shit lol. I'm hoping that every line from the HG's up is upgraded in this way. very much a good quality of life change to kits lol.
Now that RGs can get 2.0s, Bandai is going to ignore the MG line even harder.
As unfortunate as that is, personally it doesn’t bother me that much. RG is my favorite line

Funny how I can physically sense the RG Hi-Nu sweating in the background
No joke, though, an RG Nu 2.0 would be kinda amazing, especially if they figured out a way to get the funnels to be even more stable.

Since Bandai did a RG RX-78-2 2.0, now time to wait for RG Char's Zaku II 2.0
for a RG that is one beautiful version, its a shame that while it has all the same detailing that the PG has along that frame (I have the PG Unleashed on the table next to me) but no panels to pop open to see it! that would have been the icing on the cake I think, a true mini Perfect Grade.
I wish my niece got this to play. Will buy one for him.
ok yeah, I need this kit in the backlog holy shit lol. I'm hoping that every line from the HG's up is upgraded in this way. very much a good quality of life change to kits lol.
