  • This is a simple repair for a 2000 Civic experiencing delay in headlights actually turning on after you flip the switch. This car was delaying anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes. Put your questions in the comment section!

Great video. I'm experiencing sort of same problem on wife's 2000,she said there was a delay for a while, now no low beam at all. I'll give this a shot.

I have one of these and trying to take the part off at the 2:50 mark and no matter what, it will not budge. I’ve got a large screwdriver holding the edge up and a skinny flathead trying to separate the tabs as you mention. They will not move and wondering how much force we’re talking about. I don’t want to break it. Any thoughts?

Great video man! Maybe recommend some steal wool to clean it. You did your research. Bravo!

This fix totally worked but now its 2 months later and the low beams went out again. I doubt corrosion would build that fast but curious any thoughts?

The problem with this fix is that the contacts are burned. There is a nickel coating that is damaged and will probably fail again. I know I'm resurecting a VERY old video. But I just went to a pick-n-pull and found about 6 cars that have the same control.

Thanks for taking the time to make the video. My 1999 Civic was the same as your 2000.
It isn't really necessary to unwire the plugs from the plastic dash panel in the beginning of the video. Just sit it on the floor and go about the stalk disassembly.
I found that it is very important when splitting the switch box open that you need to realize that there are 2 sliding contact bars inside that will fall out unless you are paying close attention, and even if you are they might anyway. The longer bar is for the light switch , the shorter bar does the blinkers. Reassembling requires that the sliding bars are in the exact position they were.
Mine worked great but if you run into problems Rock Auto is your way out.
