Thankyou for trying to help others. I don't get all the rude comments when someone post something to try to help others. Why do others find stupid things to find fault with what someone else post. Didn't your mother teach you if you can't say something nice then KEEP YOUR LIPS (OR FINGERS IN THIS MATTER )SHUT

2003 Honda accord v6 lx. Low beans stopped working out of nowhere. Changed the bulbs, headlight assembly, nothing worked. Followed this guys vid and moved those little pegs up a little and they work great now. Thanks man saved me some mad money at a mechanic

Noticed the last couple weeks that my lights didn't seem to be as bright as they used to be and then dark early this morning realized that my brights weren't working at all, just the low beams. If it was just one… but with both at the same time this seems like most likely culprit. Still have indicator on the dash by the way to indicate that they are supposed to be on…
Just about always find disconnecting something (by hand especially, but otherwise as well) where you "just" have to press the tab to be the worst part of doing these things myself… but now I have an idea of what comes next.
Thanks for your video, very helpful.
(2003 Honda Accord LX, now approaching 304K miles.) (And just checked again, still not working, but noticed a relay that's probably supposed to turn on the brights is still clicking when turned on or off.)
Edit: The bad news is that pulling the old one out and cleaning it up (it was just a little dirty on some of the tracks) didn't make a difference. The better news is that a new replacement one did the same thing. Ergo, the old switch seems to be okay. And the fuses were all intact so not that either.
So… the really bad news is now I have to try and replace the bulbs (presumably one and then the other somewhere along the line failed), which is the biggest pain in the butt I've ever gone through in the past with this car (the fuel filter being a close second), and another decade probably won't make it any easier, as the bulb socket thingies get frozen solid in there and the wire connectors are just as stubborn if not worse. Grabbing a couple bulbs tonight… And looking so forward to spending hours getting them loose and out again and replacing their bulbs. Just one for starters though, going with the one in front of the battery, I recall it was the easier one, but probably not by much. And if that one works, then on to the other.

Low beam not working on my 2004 CR-V. The switch was different and I was not able to take it apart full only on piece of covering came off the switch but that gave access to spray the inside of switch. Once the switch was out I noticed that it was dripping is some sort of lubricant so using a straw I sprayed the interior from every hole in the switch with a automotive electrical contact cleaner from Canadian Tire $8 and reinstalled the switch and now my low beams are working again. So happy you posted this even though the my switch was different and unserviceable the contact cleaner got in and did the trick and saved me $61 + . WD-40 would probably work too.

My son's 2004 pilot was slightly different. The connector is actually right at the back of the switch so no need to chase a cable. The whole process took about 20 minutes and everything works perfectly. Thanks for posting this!

Just curious what issues was he dealing with? My high beams work fine, low beams cut in and out. All the fuses checked out fine, even swapped for new headlights and still same issue. Haven’t tried to swap this component yet. Was this the issue for you guys?

    • @noctodemus
      @noctodemus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@4SUBLIME2O His low beams started getting intermittent just like yours - they would work ok for a while and then suddenly quit. Then they would come back unexpectedly. High beams were fine. Because they were cutting in and out I was about 99% sure it wasn't a fuse or the lamps themselves. When those go they're just gone and they usually don't start working again. After I swapped the switch out, I opened up the old one and, sure enough, there was a bunch of corrosion on the little PCB inside. I have no idea why or how that would happen and I'm guessing I could have cleaned up the mess and saved forty bucks. But since I was pulling the switch anyway I was happy to replace it with a new one.

@@noctodemus thanks for the reply, Scot! Same exact problem then. I made an attempt to open it to clean it, but ended up busting it. I’m sure most of it was due to the Pilot’s old age. Ended up ordering brand new oem one for 40 bucks.

Thank you for this post. My car was a 2011 Honda Accord which the switch was a little different inside. It didn't have any soldering joints but I lifted the small tabs up and my headlights fired right up. Both of my low beams wouldn't turn on but after lifting the tabs, problems solved.

2005 Pilot EX-L (navigation) here, decided to try this after high beams on both lights stopped working with no indicator on the dash.
The manual says to remove and disconnect a bunch of stuff but you do not need to disconnect the airbag or the steering wheel.
The cable disconnects at the switch but there's another harness that gets in the way.
You have to push back the other cable. Everything had some sort of crud and I had to get a flathead in gaps to coax out the connector, and I had to really yank the whole thing to come out. Some safe solvent might do wonders here.
There was also a zip tie going in it that was securing a wire; no idea if it was functional but easy enough to recreate (watch the video and you'll see how to take off the plastic cover)
Installing the new one will be so much easier than removing the old.
I tested it before installing it all the way.

I got a new switch to test my issue and it didn't fix it. Sometimes it's the wiring issue - there's another video up where someone fixes it- he cuts the red/white wire and connects it to the black one
