You crack me up Christine, I love that what you see is what you get. I look for your videos daily to see if you have posted something new to watch & learn from. Love the channel. What fabulous gifts that you received in this video. Take care & happy sewing 💜💜💜
That was so much fun to watch. You are having warm weather, lets trade locations, I woke to -12 degrees Fahrenheit this morning. I'm so looking forward to your next video again, I can't get enough info. I want to make money sewing and that has not happened as of yet, but I'm not a quitter, just a poor 67 year old widow that loves to make quilts and items to sell at craft fairs. Thank you for sharing with me your talents and your humor, you make my day. Keep cool as I try to stay warm.
What a fantastic way to reuse. My husband and I have built ourselves a camp over the years and we certainly have a few tape measures that didn’t make it through to the end. I love it! What a joy to watch you this morning with my first cup of coffee.
Christine, thank you so much! I’ve recently rediscovered your channel. The jar opener caught my eye as the one I have is very worn and needs to be replaced! That was a great tool! I watched this video next! Liked them both very much! I will watch more of your videos and hopefully will make a few of these. What great gifts! I’m in Texas! 17:51
I made a snap bag years ago and the tutorial had us sew a casing on the outside of the bag for the ruler and insert it at the end, just as you would make a drawstring bag with a casing for ribbon ties. Not as nice looking as yours, but you don't have to worry about the ruler when you're sewing. Also, the dimensions inside of a bag are slightly smaller than the outside so if you cut the lining 1/4" shorter it will help keep the lining from bunching up at the top. I love your channel and appreciate all the inspiration and knowledge you've given me and how professional your projects always look
Adorable snap bag! Thank you! How ironic that as I was watching you make this bag using the tape measure pieces, I was wondering what else could be used instead, and low and behold what should you receive as a gift but a purse snap. Had no idea there was such a thing. Can't wait to try making this bag! Love your videos!
The snap bags were popular about 15 yrs ago, but I haven't seen them lately. I plan to make some for my friends with your method, love the sealed edge ideas. Thanks for all your great tips and ideas. Wonderful, cheery programs.
Christine - Your video is the best one I've ever seen making snap bags, so thank you. What a coincidence you receiving the snaps, on the same day as your tutorial! I've binned tapes in the past so bought a cheapie from £1 shop. I also secured the end so I wouldn't loose it. I love using variegated threads and wool. Love seeing how the wool design changes when knitting beanie hats (for homeless charity) using thrift shop wool, not knowing how the design will end up! So cold here today - I'm typing with my fingerless gloves on. Bet you don't need to wear a beanie hat at the moment 🥶😆
“Wah wah wahhhh” 🤣🤣 So glad I didn’t have a mouth full of water at that moment. Your videos are SO enjoyable. Time to go to the thrift store and get some tape measures. 💕
I like that this snap bag can use directional scrap pieces of fabric. The other vids I’ve seen require long pieces of non directional yardage. Thanks for sharing. 😃
When we had the mask mandate in the US a few years back, while exploring mask patterns, I came across one pattern using a section of snap-measuring tape inserted over-the-nose area.
I LOVE THIS TUTORIAL !!! I made so many of these ... I have all the tools and supplies. But I put it aside a long time ago because I did not like the open/raw seams. You are just amazing. I have quietly watched you for so long now. This one made me just have to comment. And - by the way - I laughed out loud at your opening comment.
If your local stores Harry those snap wrists bracelets at back to school time for the kids, they would be great to make a wrists pin cushion. I found some with a ruler print on them. They are coated in a rubber/ soft plastic type of material so the ruler won't go through. I've yet to make one myself, but it would be a great idea to make some. Thought I'd share, since this video popped up today.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. It was the best lined snap bag tutorial I’ve seen. I made two changes. I boxed the bottom and also stitched in the ditch between the main fabric and the contrast to better hold the lining down inside the bag. Really pleased with the result.
I made one yesterday and the seam where the lining joins the contrast/casing slides to the top of the tape measure. Where did you stitch in the ditch between the main fabric and lining? Along the casing, the bottom or somewhere else? Does it prevent the seam from sliding to the top of the bag?
I'm so glad you demonstrated how to protect the tape in the tape measurer. I had one that got away from me and there's no way to take that thing apart. Ugh! I also made an asterisk for the casing. Not all tape in a tape measurer is the same. Some are very narrow in width and will not work. Likewise, some are very thick in width and won't work. 1/2" to 5/8" seems to be the best size, and bend well. Anything smaller is too flimsy and the larger tape does not like to bend, and not meant to. Thanks for figuring out how to do this without overcasting.❤😊
@@graymaquilter9641 They are rather addictive to make, as they use scrap fabric. They're easy to sell anywhere. I made some for Wounded Warriors. I texted my connection about these, and thought it would be something that someone with a prosthetic arm could easily use. In fact, after sending him some, he loved the idea. They used them for Challenge Coins. I'm not sure what they are, but he had the same thought about his Warriors with prosthetic arms being able to just squeeze to open. So, I sent about 50 to start with. 🙂❤️
timing is everything. Elsa's package with the snap closure and a turning tool. Yep the wall hanging is a wonderful addition to your bright rooms decor. I love that you show us the goodies from viewers. I should have mentioned before, that I too bought several fusible tapes from Amazon to try. I wasted a bit of money, as Dritz 1/4" is still the best for me. I use less than you do overall, however, the cheaper price in this case just didn't work out. Good luck with the new tapes from New Zealand.
This is the best method I’ve seen. Thanks. I also enjoy your other videos and that you assume the majority of us know how to sew and you don’t go on about unnecessary stuff!
That is a cute print for the eye glasses case. I need to make myself a case to put my Transition glasses in on sunny days (because, they get so dark in the sun that I cannot see to walk or drive in them). This is the first pair of Transition lenses I have ever owned that has gotten so dark. It takes them a long time to return to normal after I get them out of the sun. I have to wear these glasses to be able to read. I can see to walk and drive without those glasses.
Perfect! I’m going to make a bit smaller for our cords. I can label each and put in my purse or our suitcase without getting sloppy. Will also look nicer on bedside table, or . . . Just about anywhere. Thank you again.
Always wondered how this works…….now I know thank you!! Can’t wait to start one but first the tablet case in a previous video!! Thank you so much Christine!!
Christine I just loved this video. Your tutorial is much easier than the one I used to make a snap bag for a Christmas present. That one I saw, used a French seam, but doing it your way that won’t be necessary. Thank you so much. Can’t wait to try it!
What a fun project! I wonder if you tucked in the lining and added a line of top stitching at the bottom of the outer fabric if it would help the lining stay in place. Would shorten the interior by a bit but eliminate the frustration of having the lining popping out all the time.

Thanks for posting this! Is there a way to make the lining and casing as one to eliminate the seam of the lining/casing from sliding to the top of the bag? I did sew along the side seams yet the lining still wants to slide so the seam is on the top edge of the tape measure. Thanks :)

That is a unique project. A lint roller might be just the thing for the filings.
That's a great idea Debbie😁
Great little snap bag, looks very easy to make. Love the gifts you got very thoughtful. Thanks Christine. 😊
Thanks Janet. They were lovely gifts😀
Thanks for all of your fun videos. I prefer to have the rounded side of the tape measure on the right side of the bag.
Thanks Sue. That may have helped with the rounded top edge😀
Christine, I love your version. Thank you so much. Every tip you share is golden.
