Just what I was looking for. A friend gave me a lot of quilted Christmas fabric and ask if I would make hot pads for her homeless folks she works with. I told her that fabric would not be good for hot pads because of the polyester batting but I would make eyeglass cases. This is perfect. Thanks so much. Ginny Johnson
I want to thank u for a great tutorial and especially for the attention to the details such as needle placement and bringing work and showing on the sewing machine. It truly helps those of us still knew to sewing and intimidated by the sewing machine!! Truly, thank u!!!
I love your videos. As someone who is still fairly new to sewing I find your tutorials much easier to follow than a most of the ones I’ve seen on youtube. I think that people who know how to sew forget that some of the materials, tools, and terms they frequently use are foreign to us newbies. So thank you for making quick, easy, projects that come out beautiful because of your clear, concise instructions.
I recognized your sewing machine fabric when Kimberly at Fat Quarter Shop said how much she loved it. Now I need cool sunglasses to put in your cool case.
I didn't expect much from this tutorial in the beginning, but amazingly it came out very helpful. Thank you. The sunglasses case is on my to do list, hopefully very soon.
for simplicity, you can sew the loop on without that type of caribiner clip then put it on later, so it doesn't get in the way of your presser foot. With some other types, you could attach with a split ring, which could be placed later as well.
Hello, I thought it was a special clasp you had to buy 😋 this is such a brilliant idea 😁 💕 thank you so much for this very easy to follow tutorial 😁💜 I will be making some of these for my glasses, sunglasses & even my Crochet Hooks 😁💕😋 Erica x
I enjoyed watching this tutorial. I was just wondering what the width of the measuring tape should be? I have a tape that measures half an inch, will that be strong enough to make this glasses case? Or should it be wider??? Thank you
I uses 1 inch wide tape, so I couldn't say for sure on the 1/2" one. I'd suggest folding a bit of your tape like to top of this and then pulling it apart with your fingers to see if it snaps back together, if so it would probably work.
@@Mellysews so, when they are facing each other they're more like a butterfly than an oval? So many tips in this video, well filmed and edited, too. thanks for sharing.
I was hoping there'd be a list of dimensions in the "see more" section of the video description. I would have just snapped a picture. I'm writing down the dimensions.
Superb tutorial. Looks very easy. Can' wait to start one for my husband. Very practical. ❤❤❤❤❤
Have fun!

Her shop was the first one to get yardage online for sale too!
Using measuring tape is so clever. Very nice tutorial. Thanks.
It's like magic!
Brilliant the glasses case will be on my list very soon
Have fun sewing!
Thank for the tip of moving needle over so the presser foot stays on fabric. Can’t wait to make at least one of these.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video. I made a great final product. Thank you.
Glad it helped!

Yes, you could
Love....saw a few of these videos today....liked yours the best....much easier! Thanks!
Glad it's helpful!
These would be great to make for a craft fair. Thanks for sharing
Yes they would!
thank you for this easy to follow video. Please advise how wide the metal measuring tape is please and thank you :-)
It doesn't matter. If you watch the whole video, you can see that I match the casing to the width of the tape, so any width will work.
So clever to use the measuring tape, I thought you had to buy something fancy for the closure. thank you :) And your fabric is charming!
Thank you! And you can make soooooo many of these with one measuring tape :)

Glad you like it - have fun sewing!
You could also slow hand stitch the outside for a great clean look. 🇨🇦
Yup
Great project! Thank you for the lesson on the self leveling foot. I always wondered what that black spring button was for.
I sewed for a long time before I realized what it did :)
a trick : watch series at flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Grady Braylen definitely, been using Flixzone} for since november myself =)
Great tutorial Mel. Thank you so much for sharing. Val 🇨🇦🇬🇧❤️

Thanks for watching!
Love the tutorial, it is very simple to follow you are a great teacher !
One question : is it ok to wash it with the mesuring tape inside ? 😬
I would worry about the cut end rusting. It might be ok, but I haven't tried it so I couldn't say.
What weight is the quilt backing? Thank you!
Not sure, it was a scrap of whatever I had on hand.
nice work darling
Thank you

Could you please tell me what the finished size of the sunglass case ? Just want to make sure it will fit my large sunglasses.
It comes out to the batting size tall and 1/2 of the batting size wide. So 7 1/2 by 3 3/4
Hi
Does it matter which way the tape is facing to hold and snap closed?
You want the two curved sides facing inwards. Otherwise there may be gaps when it's closed.
@@Mellysews so, when they are facing each other they're more like a butterfly than an oval? So many tips in this video, well filmed and edited, too. thanks for sharing.
So it looks like you had the tape printed side facing up when you inserted right? What a great closer.
TFS👍
Hi Melly- is 9 x 11 the correct size for adult glasses? Pat
The measurements in the post linked in the description are what I used for my adult glasses.
Can you make the sunglass case out of faux leather
That might make the seams super thick and hard to sew with a home machine.
Love it thanks
Thanks for watching!
Is there a certain side up or down to the curve on the tape measure placement,?
I place them so the curves are together.
Yes there is a proper direction for the curve. 🇨🇦
Is there a downloadable sheet of instructions with the dimensions anywhere?
No.
I was hoping there'd be a list of dimensions in the "see more" section of the video description. I would have just snapped a picture. I'm writing down the dimensions.
