On European trucks we change them every year. We call them spinners. When they fail on European trucks they generally throw oil in to the intercooler and throws oil in to the turbo causing the engine to run on until it goes bang! Normally a tell tail sign it’s about to fail is if you look at the bottom intercooler hose it will appear wet. Take the hose off and if there is wet oil in it you know to change it quick! Volvo and Paccar engines suffer most. Great video as always guys. 👍
I run a 1998 classic condo for 12 years and loved every moment. She had 12.7 Detroit, 18 speed, 411 rear ends, 24.5 drive tires, 244 wheel base. The best truck for power and fuel mileage.

Loved the video, awesome 14 liter in the classic I noticed it didn't have all that garbage on it can't wait to hear how she Runs my 14 liter is getting Rebuilt Right now and is set up the same way only with a stock manifold and a B/W S400 none wastegated turbo, I to subscribed to Murphy's Diesal thanks to Tim and they to have an awesome channel. also.
It's awesome watching this shows and I really enjoy watching Braxton learn my dad took me out when I was about ten or eleven and put me in the behind the wheel with his international in the field and told me learn how to drive and by the end of the summer I can back a trailer just as good as anyone and run just a good when I got old enough to get my CDLs it was no problem I miss traveling the country and seeing some of the beautiful lands God has blessed us with but now I enjoy being home with my family! Maybe one day I'll head out on the road!!! But you keep right on Tim teaching that boy my daddy is gone now but those memories and us traveling the country I'll never forget brother!!! That is very true. I had a few, uh, "less than ideal" drivers when I had trucks. I'll just say that it is the smart boss who recognizes that, respects it, and treats those drivers in a way that makes 'em never wanna leave.
That's a nice square body, makes me miss my 78. It was 2wd but had a 350 and a 3 on the tree. Everyone wanted to drive it til they saw the clutch pedal and asked whys that there? 😂😂😂😂 Theft deterent, thats why

FYI it's called crankcase breather. When the bearings are going out it would sound like a turbo spinning. And if u dint have oil leaks before. You will find all kinds of places where blow by well pour oil through it. We change them out at 96k intervals just to save on road failures towing charges. So count on doing some change out intervals on your detroit series 60s for sure. It's cheaper and it's easy to swap on the side of the road.....good luck and thanks for all your great content. What junk…..crankcase breathers are for passenger cars, a truck engine should just have a simple rubber “road draft” / “blow-by” tube that sends those crankcase gasses out of the engine instead of trying to trap them and over-pressurizing the crank case. Of course a heavy truck engine also shouldn’t have all the other garbage like EGR valves, DPF’s with urea dosing equipment, etc.
That is extremely helpful if formation it does not have the same one with the new ones that I had heard with the old one so that was an indicator it was going out. Thank you for the input lesson learned. I love learning more about this stuff pretty good mechanic but newer trucks.
send one of your guys out to get certified as a detroit mechanic and you can get a full warranty they came warrartt a engine if you say put a clogged up radaitor with your new engine have low colant flow and score a liner up

Hi. I'm used to Scania engines and that spinning ting is a cyclone oil cleaner that should be cleaned at every service. If it clogs up you lose the oil pressure.

Thats true but also the shop has to have a Certified mechanic With detroit cummis or cat for warranty purposes
