  • 2020 16 day Iceland road trip.
Whilst we have created this as a momento of a fantastic trip with just Icelanders as fellow travelers, thanks to Covid-19, it may also be useful for anyone who’s thinking of undertaking a similar trip as we think it’s a great all-in-one place 40 min whistle-stop tour of what you could expect from Iceland.
Happy to answer any questions about the logistics that you can't glean from the video.
    Enjoy!

A dream trip ❤🇮🇸 I’ve been lucky to have visited Iceland 7 times with an 8th coming up in 3 weeks. Your itinerary was absolutely spot on. There are a few places on your trip I haven’t been able to visit yet, This is what makes me return frequently as I want to see everything. Great vlog and very informative.

.You have offered a long, detailed, compelling story. The presentation and images are great. The journey was long and it seems to me that you have been able to organize it following specific plans.

Thank you so much for sharing this, watching it felt like a combination of a documentary and a travel video. I loved it! I'm planning our trip to Iceland which we hopefully get to do in August, and this video was really useful for that as well :)

As an Icelander, I found the "Iceland is one hour BEHIND the UK" funny. In geologic terms, the western part of Iceland is a hour and half AHEAD of the UK since we use UTC (GMT) all the time. The UK fiddles with it's clock in summer, simply to complicate matters. In Iceland it never gets dark for 3 months in summer and in winter we only have rather few hours of daylight. What is the point for us mucking around with the clock?
You obviously had the country mostly to yourselves in 2020 due to Covid, and so did a lot of Icelanders (myself included) that revisited and enjoyed our country that had been awash with tourists for at least 12 years.
There is an Icelandic saying: "Göggt er gests augað" - literally translated, word by word, "Sharp is the guest's eye". As a retired domestic airline pilot, I can verify that! I have, time and time again, rediscovered my own country by doing sight-seeing flights with foreign tourists all around Iceland. Seeing their wonder at what I have grown accustomed to has made me realize that I actually live in a wonderful and scenic country (Dynjandi is only a 1 hour drive from my home town Ísafjordur where I was born and raised - and am currently living).
Thank you for allowing me to revisit my own country via this video.
PS. Rosie is using her skiing poles wrong: Put your hands UP through the strap and let it rest in your palm. I must say your vdo are so nice and what an energetic couple you are. I wished when I am your age I am as half as energetic and healthy as you. Nice to see vdo that's not heavily photoshop or taken by super expensive lens and make it more beautiful than the real site. I d0 so want to do motorhome trip 12 days next year in May (per my children request to sleep in motorhome) . I guess I can't follow your guide as most of your trip were on F road. I also love your jokes from the vdos hahaha. Pls visit Thailand one day.

I have to say that this is one of the most comprehensive videos I have seen to date. Not only do you show the locations you visited but you also spell them, something that most videographers don't do which makes it hard to attempt to locate them. Which time of year did you go as we are planning a 2nd trip for 3 weeks in June 2024? The only hard part is determining how much time to spend in each area we plan on going to and would rather just drop into an accommodation then book in advance and run the risk of missing the booking.

Hi, a great video. My wife and I are going to Iceland in 2024, but nothing booked yet. At home (Australia) we never book anything; just roam around the countryside in our caravan, so your video is a great resource for us newbies. Which hire company did you get your vehicle from?

What a wonderful and amazing video. Thx for your effort. I have one hint: the part where you step on the two tectonic plates is a mistake that most of the tourists make. The eurasian plate is a few km to the west. I saw it in a tv Broadcast and these two plates actualy aint touch each other on iceland.

Hello Neil. I have seen and re-watched the video of your beautiful trip to Iceland.
We are Italian, husband and wife, like you, and we would like to return to Iceland in September next year.
We have already planned, more or less, the stops, also taking inspiration from your trip.
I would like to ask you a question about overnight stays. Did you book them in advance? as soon as possible?
In particular, I wanted to ask you if you have stayed overnight in KERLINGARFJOLL and if you have booked.
I tried to do it with Booking, but it already gives me unavailability for the requested days.
I am grateful for your attention and I would like to thank you in advance if you have the kindness to answer me.
    Paolo Taje
