Wow! It’s been a year since previous workout at it. Love the bands to re-visit. Great one for shoulders and upper back plus benefit to computer work and posture. I just got back last night from trip. We took a morning walk, then I followed with this excellent upper body workout. Thanks Vanessa 🧘🏻♀️❤️
Love to see you back on a video that connected us in the first place ✅️😎👌🏆 So great this is still a favourite for your posture and back Kelly! Some good foundational exercises on here that we can always revisit. So proud of your progress and willingness to do literally every video on here plus all my coaching programs 🙌🫶🏆 Success, body changes, strength changes and great eating has been exciting to see with you! Very proud, let's keep going 👌✅️
Good morning. I’ve started doing this band on Sunday. I still do LOOP band for shoulder and arms on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Changed to LOOP video once on those days, followed by 9minute upper body and shoulder (Tuesday), 12 minute shoulder and back (Thursday), and 12 minute shoulder and upper back (Saturday). I have a calendar keep of videos. Normally, on Wednesday, i target posture in videos. Most weeks, target to get some band daily and add in legs. Overall I’m regaining strength. Thanks Vanessa ❤️
Awesome to hear! Great job in organizing all of the vids for your best benefit and for what you need. This is an excellent tip for helping others who will read this. Thank you for sharing such useful ideas Kelly! 🙏👌

Hi Stephanie, welcome and thank you for your comments! I've been struggling with shoulder problems throughout my life! Everything from throwing, to weight lifting, and more often since i started rock climbing a while ago! Been doing your exercises and feel them helping alot! Just wanted to say big thanks for making these videos and impacting my sports experiences so positively 😊😊 Cheers
Fantastic to hear! welcome to the channel and I do hope you subscribe and enjoy more videos to help you! What you are doing with your rock climbing and other exercise is great, and the style of exercise I do on this channel will be like the 'underneath' layer of movement and strength that will enhance your other activities. Keep it up!!
Hi Sharon that's great news! Thank you for your comment. How has this helped you? Are you doing some of the other videos too? Let me know what else you need 😉✌
Thank you! Thank you! Many must have been reading my mind as I was mentally asking for another video like the 1st one. Little did I think of making an online request. Thankfully, there were enough enthusiasts who did. I am grateful to have discovered tonight that another Vanessa B Health video was available. These exercises have definitely helped reduce shoulder pain and allowed for more dexterity and freedom of movement. Very grateful for what Vanessa has shared.
I didn't know if I responded to this!! Well I'm glad you saw others ask Haha and yes feel free to request anything new! The follow up vids are becoming as popular as this 😀 Hope you are going well with all the workouts and thank you for your feedback 👌
Thank you for the excellent video. I felt much crunching in my right shoulder during the rotation exercises and it actually hurt. My left shoulder was fine, probably because the surgeon "cleaned it all up" while repairing my supraspinatus. Poor right shoulder had to do all the work for months while I was re-strengthening the left side.
Hi Linda! Yes that may be correct with the overcompensation. Make sure your surgeon has cleared you for videos and all these band exercises ok🤗 You never want to push through bad pain. In this case, check with your doctor if its ok for the rotations and maybe start with a lighter band. Let me know how you go ok 🤗
Hi John 😀🙏👌 Thank you for your comment! Really appreciate it. Hope this video is helping you 💪 Do subscribe and check out the others on here too. Do you need any help in particular right now? What are you working on?
Awesome Vanessa , your narration , demonstration , analysis are absolutely fantastic. I have become big fan of yours. Me and my family will follow you now onwards
Wow what a lovely comment thank you Yogesh! I do hope you and your family subscribe to the channel, and enjoy the other videos too. Is there anything you need help with in particular?
Thanks for pointing me in the direction of this video. I had to wait a couple of days for new, longer, bands to arrive but raring to go now. I really enjoy your teaching style. Good job!
Hey Jeremy! That's good you got the bands 💪So glad this video is helping! Work your way through the playlists and focus on different muscles as you need to each week 💪🤗 Let me know if you need any help ok!
I love the first video you did targeting these muscles, and this one is amazing as well! I've had several shoulder surgeries and doing these routines has helped me to maintain my shoulder health. Thank you for these innovative videos as they are incredibly beneficial!
Thank you Steven, that is great to hear 😀 The first video is by far my most popular one glad to know you have done both to keep your shoulders strong, so well done for being consistent on this 💪Do check out the other videos for abs, back, legs, stretches etc and I hope you find benefit in these too! @@Vanessabhealthtv You're welcome, VanessaB. The two videos really compliment one another, and are both simple yet challenging, more so than one might expect! I have checked out a bunch of your videos and mix them with Indian clubs which I have been swinging for years. You are the one who really got me into therabands. They are an amazingly versatile fitness tool and you really do an amazing job showing how to extract their potential. I have checked out a whole bunch of your videos and they are all great. Have incorporated several into my fitness regime, will keep reviewing older ones and look forward to the new ones.
@@steveo8015 thank you so much for letting me know! That's great you are doing some others now too. Once you start Therabands you get hooked, but in a good way! I agree with you in that they are versatile and help with so much strength and mobility for the whole body. Stay well! Thanks again 😉✌
@@Vanessabhealthtv Thank you for all that you do, and for being so receptive and attentive to your followers. I wanted some good Theraband advice and to learn some basic movements to establish a solid foundation. Luckily, I discovered you. I am hooked, and it's all good. Hi Kirsty, great work for doing the videos! Yes of course, that is a great request. I think posture correction in it's own is a must and something many people need 🤗👌 Thank you for the suggestion, I'll add it to this weeks list 💪✌
Yes, a superb complement to your earlier video. Your creative use of the theraband has introduced new ways of exercising to me and your instruction and practice tips are very useful. I particularly like the internal and external rotation exercises which do not require anything other than a theraband. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge here. Really enjoy your channel!
you are very welcome and thank you for the feedback ! Ive been teaching for many years and love this stuff, so glad its clear and helpful. Any other vids you want let me know! Il be filming more over the coming weeks :-)
I would like to see a vid on improving flexibility and strength around the knee and also the muscle group that runs from the knee up to the hip. I know that's asking alot! I am in the process of trying to build strength, stability and flexibility in these 2 areas, particularly the knees ( for hill climbing and decent) I use your shoulder workouts all the time and really love them. Thanks so much.

@@Vanessabhealthtv oh perfect, thanks for the recommendation, there's plenty of exercises in the Playlist. I personally use the band to build the deeper muscles and was just wondering whether you could expand the band's use (no pin intended, really haha) to stretching. I actually don't know if it can be used for that, I am just a layman on this topic. 😅 Thank you so much though for your work! Love from Germany :)
@@OleanderProducing haha love it, no pun intended...yes I can 'expand' on the topic 😂 It does do the deeper muscles but in fact the 'full body' band routines I have include both deeper and more surface muscles working so you target the whole body for tone and strength. I will certainly put together some more movements and combinations as I resume filming now! Looking forward to it and helping you and the other wonderful people who do my workouts 👌🤗 And yes a stretch one with the band will be done too 👌 Amazing to hear you are from Germany! Love how we can all connect:)
Hi Vanessa! I'm so thankful for you and your channel! After doing your exercises and extra stretching, my shoulder pain is gone! I do have a question, for the side raises and external and internal shoulder rotations, will it be just as effective to use light 2-3 lb weights?
Hello and great work on your improvements 💪🤗 the weights do have a different effect on the body in that you don't have as much control as such, so you need to ensure you feel strong and stable, correctly aligned too before doing movements. The band also creates a nice, even resistance as you push and pull it outwards, whereas the weight will be heavier on the joint and more 'free' moving, so again stability is key here👌
@@Vanessabhealthtv That makes a lot of sense. Thank you so much. It’s so clear that you care a lot about helping others get healthier and happier. I’m a huge fan.
Hello Frosja, great to hear! If you do this two to three times a week for a few weeks you will notice a huge difference in these muscles! Enjoy the other videos and start to mix and match them 💪🤗

Thanks ... for a very instructive exercise set. Do you have anything for tennis elbow / golfer’s elbow ... muscle strengthening. Or these only will help
hello Ravindra :-) This video will help, but ensure you are doing wrist strengthening aswell. Ask your physio for exercises if you suffer from this. It's also about strengthening your upper back having 'rotational flexibility' throughout your torso for these specific sports, especially golf (I used to play !!) In this case, I suggest doing videos from my PILATES PLAYLIST where you will do rotation and core. At the same time, massage for the arms, shoulders and upper back after doing these sports will help you to stay strong yet relaxed in the joints. Hope that helps !
Hi Diane 🙋♀️ try out the Stretch Playlist and do some of those videos. What sort of hip pain is it? Like glute pain or tightness? Or from something like bursitis?
GM Vanessa, I tried this workout for the first time this morning and I truly enjoyed it. I swim 2x a week and I need to strengthen my back and shoulders. I can really feel the workout as I am writing my comments. I will be incorporating this video and other videos in my weekly return. How often do you recommend doing the same routine in a week? Thank you again for sharing.
Hi Linda thank u for your comment! It's perfect to compliment your swimming and will provide deeper strength and mobility for the shoulders in those movements. Do this 3 to 4 times per week, every second day or so. Check out the other playlists and workouts too, especially the Body Strength and Pilates videos to get that full body, holistic approach and balance throughout your muscles. Let me know if you need any other help 👌🤗
VanessaB Health TV, I can’t seem to find the Pilates video but I will continue to search for it. Being a plus size/full figure woman, I’m thinking of trying your pregnancy videos. I have no muscle strength.

Great video. I have rotator cuff tendinitis and my Physio has given me some stretches however i much prefer doing one of your videos. Do you thing this Video is suitable for tendinitis or perhaps a bit strong.? If not i would love to see a video for supraspinatus & infraspinatus tendonitis strengthening. Many thanks, and much appreciated. M
Thank you so much! Glad you like the video 😀 I would use light band with tendonitis and do only a few reps with slow, controlled movement as you don't want to cause pain. Always go off what your physiotherapist says and do those stretches too as they have seen your condition and are giving you exercises specific to your needs, whereas this video is general advice. That's a great idea for supraspinatas muscle specific, I will create this video too! Also check out my other 12 Minute Shoulder and Upper Back strength video here th-cam.com/video/Llft_JbD5ys/w-d-xo.html which will also benefit and give some other variations to this one. Do them say 3 or 4 times a week and your physio stretches too. Keep me posted, and do subscribe for updates and other vids 💪😉
@@Vanessabhealthtv Wow, thanks so much for the speedy reply and information. I will continue to do both your videos with an easier band as well as my physios recommendations. Thanks!!
@@moniqueboseley9692 no probs:-) sometimes I can easily get to respond if it's in daytime, sometimes takes me a few days haha. Building your core will also be of benefit so check out the Pilates playlist too ✌😉
Hi Vanessa, would you recommend these movements to someone who’ve had a disc joint degeneration along their cervical spine two months back? While the doctor has advised to stay off sports and gym, the physio therapist have started incorporating some techniques using this band for strengthening the back and core specifically, although they are nothing like yours. Keen to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
Hello Damon, I suggest you show these moves direct to your physiotherapist as I cannot tell you a clear answer to this as I have not seen you in person, nor do I know the full extent of the degeneration etc. In my experience this would be ok for you provided you start with a light band and be aware of technique, plus tuning into if any abnormal pain arises. But again, for full clarity and to be sure you are doing the right thing for yourself, always ask the physio in person who is treating you ok 😉 Also look at the body holistically and ensure you are strengthening all other muscles to support your spine other than just cervical area. This is always a good approach for long term 😀
Hi Joanne, no I do not have anything specific for tennis elbow but can certainly put together some exercises 💪🤗 do you do tennis or golf? I used to do both!
Hi, could you please give the length of the band you are using in this exercise video ? Is it 6 ft ? Since it's blue, I am assuming it's the "extra heavy" theraband sold on amazon.
Hello 😀 it's approx 1.5 metres long. I find longer ones better for more variation of movements. By the way I'm working on getting good quality bands for sale with the correct resistance and length for my clients, so do subscribe and stay tuned. There are varying strength and resistance levels depending on brand. I am using a different brand in this, not Theraband.
Question please///the right shoulder ihas a very tight internal rotator. I am nervouse to strenfthen it further. Best to continue with external rotators until the internal one has stretched somewhat?
Hi there! Thank you 🤗 yes you can do these exercises while pregnant as they are all standing. Just be mindful not to strain or use a band too heavy that may make you squeeze core too much. Secondly, if you get dizzy lifting arms or anything overhead, sit down or eliminate those ones. How far along are you? I'm 27 weeks myself! Check out the PREGNANCY playlist for safe workouts 👌
Thanks for your response. I am 24 weeks pregnant. Its pretty hot in my part of the world and I tend to get dizzy alot. Good wishes for you and your little baby⚘🙏💫
@@tulipsforever oh wow Congratulations!! Good luck on your journey 🤰👌 I've had the dizzy thing too. Excellent thanks mam ..This was helpful me subscribe .. can this exercise doing resistant band ? I have rounded shoulder and my upper back very stiff and weak so please guide me any exercise tips.. thanks again
So just make sure you stand as tall as you can while doing this routine. I suggest doig my back strengthening and Pilates videos to help release tension in your back muscles, this will help :-)
Hi Vanessa, within an hour of doing this I began to get spasms in my lower back. What did I do wrong? My own conjecture is that I didn't engage the stomach muscles/ core to support the lower back. Do you have any exercises to relieve that pain?
You could be right in not getting your core strong enough. Also possibly the band is too hard right now. Do you have underlying back problems or any issues? Or recently been ill/injured? I cannot know the exact cause as I do not know your history. So best go to your doctor if you do have back issues or anything else that needs addressing. It could also be imbalanced muscles where the back gets triggered first if you have already overworked this area. I would not do any videos for now till next day. Then go to Stretch Playlist and find a lower back relief video 👌
Hello Joan yep for this video it's a super long band I cut around 6 feet (2 meters Australian measurement). The brand for this is Resista Band I'm not sure if they available everywhere as I got them in Australia:)
Hi Vanessa, I was wondering if this would help my muscles to firm between underarm and just above the breast ? (There is a extra small portion of sagging fat sticking out) only left side.. Or if you may recommend from your video, I would very much appreciate it.😊👍 from Glendale, Southern California 🌴
Hi Tracy! This video is more isolation work for the upper body. I think for this you would benefit from more compound movements using shoulders chest, arms together to really activate the pecs and tone upper body. So try this th-cam.com/video/igpptYjePP4/w-d-xo.html and do the various videos on the Pilates Playlist for upper and full body toning. There is a good amount of holding up through the arms etc which will help this. Ensure you are eating well and drinking plenty of water too 🤗👌 let me know how you go with this vid and your progress ok!
I'm having a bit of a struggle with the External Rotation and Internal Rotation when trying to get to a 90 degree angle. I'm using a resistance 4/5 band and somehow it won't go up as well. Any advice for this? My arm holding the band feels weak and wants to go back down. :/
Sometimes it's tricky to get the full range of movement due to tightness in the joint. Just do what you can and over time this may improve. If it doesn't you could see a physio and get specific massage or stretches for the issue. It's ok not to get full 90 degree as long as you feel your deep shoulder working 😊
Hi! thank you for these exercise, these have really helped me overcome my shoulder rotator cuff injury. However, i still have some doubts: 1. Earlier when i used to do the exercise of previous video, i felt a lot of fatigue in my shoulder blade area muscles, now i don't. Am i doing it right or the muscles have healed? 2. Sometimes i feel some tension in my neck while doing the stretch exercises of previous video, any specific reason why this happens? It would be wonderful if you can answer my doubts. Thank You! P.S.: i have a left shoulder injury(shoulder blade ligaments injured); i used to play tennis(though i'm right handed) and i write with my left hand
Hello and thank you for your feedback! So glad the videos are helping you. To answer your questions: 1. If you are not feeling it as much it means you are getting stronger and used to the movement and muscle activity. This is a good thing. I believe with band work and targeting different layers of muscles as in these shoulder videos it is best to stay slow and controlled. Check your posture and put your shoulders down and back and ensure your technique has not slipped. To 'feel it' once again you could get a slightly harder band and/or increase the speed a little for variety. 2. The neck pain you have felt most likely is because in doing these sorts of upper body band exercises you are also triggering deep neck muscles. They are connected to your traps and upper back muscles which is why many people feel the neck working. I do aswell when I do these workouts. It's not a bad thing as long as no serious pain. Seek your physiotherapist to check for you if you feel you need this looked at though. It's just that your neck is not used to being triggered and worked with those other muscles. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need further help 😀
@@Vanessabhealthtv Thank You for answering my querries, it's amazing that you have taken out time to reply. Yes the pain is not serious or persistent, its the stretch i feel on that side. We took a morning walk, then I followed with this excellent upper body workout. Thanks Vanessa 🧘🏻♀️❤️

your theraband back strengthening videos have been life-changing for me. THANK YOU!
It's amazing. Thank you for all your hard work!

@@Vanessabhealthtv oh perfect, thanks for the recommendation, there's plenty of exercises in the Playlist. @@OleanderProducing haha love it, no pun intended...yes I can 'expand' on the topic 😂 It does do the deeper muscles but in fact the 'full body' band routines I have include both deeper and more surface muscles working so you target the whole body for tone and strength.

Thanks ... for a very instructive exercise set.
Vanessa, do you have any videos for hip pain? Thank you.
Hi Diane 🙋♀️ try out the Stretch Playlist and do some of those videos. What sort of hip pain is it? Like glute pain or tightness? Or from something like bursitis?
My pain is from glute tightness. I will try your "Stretch Playlist." Thanks so much for responding!
Hi any excercise for knee, lower back , neck... Thank you a lot. Wishes
Hi ! Check the other playlists on the channel for this :) Ive done videos for knee and lower back, but not yet for neck! Will work on this soon 😉
Do you have tennis elbow/golf elbow exercises Vanessa?
Great set of excercises. I struggle with my shoulders and neck. Can one do these excercises when pregnant?
Is that band 6 feet long or more? Please answer. What brand bands areyou using?
Hello Joan yep for this video it's a super long band I cut around 6 feet (2 meters Australian measurement). The brand for this is Resista Band I'm not sure if they available everywhere as I got them in Australia:)
@@Vanessabhealthtv Thank you!
Medam I have partial supraspinatus tear what to do for permanent cure
Visit my Frozen Shoulder video in the Shoulders & Posture Playlist-this will help! But you must see doctor or physio for specific advice👌
Hi Vanessa,
I was wondering if this would help my muscles to firm between underarm and just above the breast ?
Volleyball too💚🏐❤️
Fantastic! Glad it's helping with that too , good work 🤗🙏
Hi! thank you for these exercise, these have really helped me overcome my shoulder rotator cuff injury. However, i still have some doubts:
To answer your questions:
I tried working out this video and its amazing!
Wish You all the best ! and Thank You for putting up such high quality fitness videos!
Take Care!
I feel like this gets at the arms in a deeper way too. No?
Yes for sure! Because you are holding the band and holding arms out for some of these, you are working your arm muscles at the same time. A bonus!
One for shoulder imbalance
Do this video for shoulder imbalance, plus the original theraband video I did as you need to wok on those deeper muscles, then start to add your pushups and other shoulder exercises, see my Pilates workouts for this!
