I’m really loving listening to you Hayley. I’m quite new to dressmaking and I spend so much of my sewing time berating myself for all the daft mistakes I keep making. It’s so funny and refreshing that you share your ‘daft’ mistakes too in such a light hearted way. I’ve also just thrown a t shirt across the room as I’ve cut the neck hole far too big , miss placed the spare fabric and sewn a seam wrong side to wrong side in error! Like you, I normally end up with a lovely wearable item in the end but it’s always a bit of a wild adventure!
Hailey, I was so happy to see you were wearing the daisy top. I see what you mean about the sleeves sticking out. My guess is that it's because of the seam that you cut off. If they bother you, I think the top would look great sleeveless. It's such a great fabric. Love the tip about cleaning up when you can't find something. I hope the rest of your sewing is as enjoyable as your joggers.
Yes it probably is the shoulder seam error isn’t it 🤦🏻♀️ oh well, like you say, hopefully the daisies are the star of the show 😂 Fingers crossed we all have a sewing project like the joggers next!
New subscriber. Loving your sewing adventures, you always make me laugh 😂I’m so glad it’s not just me who makes daft mistakes. Love your t-shirt. Autumn’s coming and you won’t even see the cap sleeves under your cardigan 🤷🏼♀️😂
Your chart makes me giggle bc I’ve owned my overlocker(2nd hand) for more than 6 years -only used it really in the last 2- and I’ve never changed it from the white thread it came loaded with. I have all the other colors, the lady I bought it from was very generous and all the colors are brand new in plastic still. It’s like never disturb a sleeping baby kind thing 😂
Ha ha, when my kids were little and napped late everyone used to say to me, “don’t you want to wake them up so they’ll sleep tonight?” And I was like NEVER WAKE A SLEEPING BABY! So I get you, if it ain’t broke…
I always forget to give the details of when I make a pattern and adjustments I make. I’ve even written myself notes then totally not looked at them as I talk 🙄 love the tshirt, I’m not a fan of cap sleeves mostly because I have larger arms so they just aren’t comfortable for me, I’d actually prefer sleeveless over cap sleeves 😂 I do think it looks good on you though. I have a lot of fomo over the Ogden cami as I see a lot of sewists making it and it looks amazing but I don’t think I can wear it simply because of the shift dress nature of it and so I’ve never bought the pattern.
Oh gosh, the number of times I look at my list after I’ve filmed and realise all the things I forgot to mention 🤦🏻♀️ Why do I even make a list if I’m not going to look at it? 😂 I actually usually dislike sleeveless on me, I don’t know why as I’m not bothered by my arms at all, but I love a cap sleeve. I just think these are a bit… pointy? But I’ll get over it I’m sure, you know what it’s like when you’re cross with something you made but once you forget you love it!
Question for you about the Odell dress from an earlier video. I used 3/8 in seams in all the sleeve sections and found that the neckline and sleeve openings were too big for the facing and cuffs. I ended up resewing all those seams at 5/8in which made the facing and cuffs fit. Wondered if you encountered something similar.
That is very strange because the seam allowance is listed as 1cm and that did match my experience (eventually), read on… So on my first version my cuffs didn’t fit, but when I went back and measured my seam allowances I had used 9mm which is just under 1cm (3/8). I was exactly half an inch off, which across all six seams was correct, given that the 1mm error is doubled on all seams, so 2mm x 6 = 1.2cm (1/2 inch). On my second version I was more careful to do exactly 1cm, and those cuffs fit perfectly. With the neckline it fit in both versions first time. So I have no idea what’s going on with your pattern 🧐 Does it otherwise fit ok?
@@alwaysinthecraftroom I made it work by dividing the difference among all the seams. You’re right, it was a minuscule amount but it made all the difference. I’m pleased with the dress- simple yet unique. Thank you for responding.
Not at all, I’m glad you made it work! I was a bit lazy and just took up all the difference on one seam but with so much poof on the sleeves I don’t think it’s too noticeable 🙈 Glad you like the dress, I love both my versions and have another planned!
I really enjoying watching your sewing videos. You are doing a fabulous job.

Neckbands eh? I made mine too small you made yours too big, if only they had a t-shirt baby it would be just right 😂
