The blouse in that fabric is perfection. I hope it's not a nightmare to iron. Maybe use a ham for the sleeves? I think the towel idea is great and they look fine. You are always fun to watch. Happy sewing.
Aw thank you! I think it will need a ham to iron… that’s why I’m dreading it lol! But I do love the fabric so much so maybe it will be worth it 😂 Thanks so much for the kind words about my vlogs, I really do appreciate it ❤️
Your top is so lovely! I really love watching people when they’ve had a garment they are particularly pleased with. Just seeing other people’s joy gets me through the more challenging projects because it reminds me that I could be that successful on my next project. I use a seam roll or a pressing ham when ironing fuller sleeves. Personally, I think that the top is pretty enough that I’d gladly press the sleeves, but you may dislike ironing more than I do. You can sew narrow stretch lace together and make wider stretch lace to use on the top of your underwear. It’s not always the cheapest option, but it works. I had a bunch of the narrower lace in the perfect color for my underwear, so I used a washable glue stick and glued three rows together a little longer than the length I needed for the waistband. I just overlapped the layers a little bit. After it dried, I used a triple zigzag stitch in a matching thread color to sew them together. My lace worked well and actually held up better than my fabric because I used a tissue weight knit. I wouldn’t hesitate to use that technique again if my fabric were more long lasting. I think it costs more in the long run unless you get a great deal on your lace, but it makes for really lovely underwear. My only chore sewing this week was sewing a button back on a pair of pants. I don't mind chore sewing as much as I used to. I've learned that It's the really practical things that add a lot of value to my everyday life so they don't seem so onerous anymore.
That’s such a great tip about sewing the stretch lace together, thank you! I would not have thought of that, even though I have done it with plain elastic before in a pinch. And thank you for the lovely words about my blouse and saying that you enjoyed the vlog, I really do appreciate it. I hope the fabric looks just as good after a wash (and inevitable iron 😂) 🤞🏻
Yeah, your Odell top is stunning, that’s a great fabric choice! I have to say that ironing mine has not been my favourite and it has put me off wearing it a bit. I think using a ham would make a difference to ironing the sleeves. I'd better make or buy one soon so I can wear it again 🙄 Also, loving your towel story. Your videos are real life and show all sides to sewing. The joy, the chores, the problem solving, the necessary but not so exciting items we all need.
Thank you that’s so kind of you! It’s true, once you can sew it’s not all just fun stuff, we end up with less exciting stuff to do too, but even those jobs add so much value to my life! Yes the ironing thing is bothering me, I haven’t had to do it yet. I’m just not sure I can bring myself to get my ham out when it’s not construction pressing, but that’s silly isn’t it. Having nice clothes isn’t just about making them, but maintaining them too. I made my ham using craft cotton and tiny scraps of jersey and it’s been really useful.
Yep, mending....I had to mend the pocket on my kelly anorak. Essential but not fun. You've had great advice for your backpack....what a lovely set of followers.
If we have a party or lots of people over, whenever I use the facilities myself I always change out the towel! Damp towels gross me out - even though I know their only people who’ve used it are the ones who actually washed their hands 😂

I know they are the loveliest (and cleverest!) bunch. Well done on mending the anorak ⭐️
Beautiful blouse Hayley. ☺
Aw thank you!
I'm creeped out by damp towels...I have 'halved' hand towels in the kitchen (I believe some people dry their hands on the tea towel😱)
