I've been watching all your videos recently and you're helping me so much! Quick question, the deadline for early action to is 1 November, should I start my application now? Its my first time applying to U.S colleges. Thanks in advance. :D
Great question! It's really whenever you want. I submitted my application the night it was due hahaha so you will be WAY ahead if you start drafting essays for your colleges now, that would be awesome! The time of submission doesn't effect admissions at all so just stay on top of it and submit when you're ready. :)
This was so helpful! I really want to be an astrophysicist and UChicago is my top schools. Will you talk about your extracurriculars? I am worried about not getting in because my extracurriculars are not related to physics/astronomy and I don’t have that “spike” for my desired major.
I'm so glad that I could help! I never had any extracurriculars related to physics when I applied to UChicago :) That shouldn't be a problem at all - college is the place where you get to experience those internships and classes. I even interned at UChicago's astrophysics observatory my first year. :) Write about the things you want to experience in your Why UChicago essay!
What do you think the hardest part of the college application process is? For me, it was just having to apply to all of those schools at the same time and not knowing which schools to apply! _College fit is so important!!!_
Thanks! I applied to mostly just the top 3, I got deferred from UPenn and got into Berkeley, GTech, UCLA! Didn't get into a lot as well haha and so many waitlists like WashU, Carnegie, etc.
Hey! I’ve always wanted to be an astrophysicist since like 4th grade and now I’m applying to colleges and I want to continue my dream! Would you mind looking at my personal essay or any tips on becoming an astrophysicist?
I've wanted to study astrophysics since I was young too! :) Of course! Send your essay over to thealmostastrophysicist@gmail.com and I'll give you some pointers! As for tips - once you can take elective classes in college, take the ones you find most interesting (and for sure major in Physics or Astrophysics, whatever your college will offer)! Getting your undergraduate degree and then a Ph.D. is definitely a long process and you don't want to get tired of your work along the way. (I'd say something like that happened to me, and I ended up just being a Data Scientist instead of my Ph.D!)
Hi, of course! I took Math HL, Physics HL, History HL, and English Literature HL. My SL's were Chemistry and Spanish Ab Initio. I had a predicted 7/7 for every subject and a 6/7 in physics. (My total predicted was 43/45 I believe!) My actual final score was in the mid to high 30's (so definitely lower than my predicted haha). I can't remember exactly how much since colleges never got that score haha (I already got accepted before my final IB examinations)! Hope I helped!
I've taken dual enrollment classes instead of ap for 1 class because I knew the teacher taught well. Will that hinder me since I opted out of ap for dual?
Thank you so much for the helpful video! Would you mind sharing your IB predicted and exam scores?
Great Video!!!! I didn’t know that you started having coffee at that age😃 Good to know you more😂😂
Thanks Mom! 😂😃
Please in my country AP classes are not available. Thus how should I go about filling in the classes i took.

oh thanks
Hardest part of the application process for me is actually starting 🙃
I completely understand that! But once you start, you'll get so used to it and crank all those applications out :)
Love your videos, Priya. I am wondering if you can share which other schools you applied to and what were your top school choices besides UChicago.
Thanks! I applied to mostly just the top 3, I got deferred from UPenn and got into Berkeley, GTech, UCLA! Didn't get into a lot as well haha and so many waitlists like WashU, Carnegie, etc.

heyy! thank you so much for the video - could i ask about your IB subject choice and a final score?

@@TheAlmostAstrophysicist very helpful - thanks a lot :) from an ib student applying this fall
@@dashakhamaza2250 Of course, I'd say the weight's placed on your HS transcript and predicted grades. Good luck with your application!!

Nope! I promise you that the one class won't be the part of your application that decides whether you get into a school or not!
@@TheAlmostAstrophysicist thank you! I really appreciate your videos!!
