Congratulations young man. I pray that all is well at UChicago. My daughter was accepted into Brown ED ‘27. She too was also very involved in Social Justice but she went the IB route instead of AP. I am so proud of you young people. #Black excellence 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🎉
Thank you so much for making this video! UChicago has been my dream school for a long time and this video made me feel better about my chances on getting in. It always seems like everyone who gets into these schools has crazy perfect stats, which is not always the case! I am a junior in high school and applying to colleges is daunting…so this video has definitely made me realize that I do not have to be perfect in order to get into a school like this!
Glad to hear! Yeah, to be honest, I felt the same way in high school. UChicago is very unique in that your personality can carry a lot of weight even if your grades have some dips. Just focus on maintaining your grades and continuing to be involved in the activities you're currently part of. Also, start drafting a killer essay if you haven't already! Best of luck!
Thank you so much for this video. I've watched a few people who have had 1550+ SATs, 5.0 weighted GPAs, and insane national recognition. You definitely have a much more similar background to me as an applicant, so that gives me hope. Thank you for creating this very thorough and helpful video.
Thank You SOOO MUCH! congrats on getting into uchicago&wish u all the best! Im an international student from shanghai. Definitely relating to u since I had a serious knee injury plus im also super into the social sciences🤝. Altho im not applyin to uchi this yr but this video is just so helpful and motivating. You seemed super nice
Congrats to him!!! Uchicago definitely attracts a different type of student because of their essays. However, I feel like that’s what makes their student body so unique compared to other top peer school like Yale and Princeton!!
@@EjenkinsVlogs my nephew got into Yale Princeton Cornell, and others because of his writing. He wasn't willing to write an extra easy to apply to Chicago.
I’d love to hear more about the culture project you were apart of. I’ve actually founded something similar at my school called the Gray space, which is a group where we can learn about different types of social injustice through research and life experiences. Do you happen to have the bylaws? Apparently I’m Oklahoma there’s some law about teaching controversial information and my principal asked for rules from a similar organization
Unfortunately I no longer have access to my high school email so I don't have a copy of our bylaws. We had some sessions that were more informational about certain issues, however we tended to focus more on life experience. For instance for Hispanic Heritage Month, which is happening rn, I would usually have representatives from the Hispanic community volunteer to share about their upbringing and how it has helped share their identity. Thorugh this many inevitably spoke upon systemic issues within my school and community that have affected them negatively or positively. Through these shared storytelling of life experiences we can't deny the way an individual feels, all we can do is listen. The point of these event that were held every other months wasn't to teach "controversial information", but for others to listen about the experiences of others who may be experiences social injustice. Hope this helps you navigate your club, if you have any other question feel free to DM, email or Comment!
I agree, but there’s a mix of people at Uchicago who have crazy extracurricular or normal ones. It just depends on the strength of you entire application
168 hours in a week, take away 95 hours of school and extracurriculars gives you 73 hours of downtime a week. That translates to a little over 10 hours of downtime a day, and assuming that he sleeps 8 hours a day, that still gives him 2 hours of rest and relaxation every single day. That sounds perfectly reasonable to me...
Did you apply ED or EA?
I applied Early Action!!

My nephew got into Yale and Princeton but didn't apply to University of Chicago because of the extra essay!

My god those extracurriculars… man these colleges expect wayy too much.

You told colleges that in addition to 35 hours of school each week you did 60 hours of extracurriculars most weeks of the year???

Thanks for calculating this. It was totally manageable!
