    Many thanks for the idea about gluing the glue stick into the back of the old one to stop it falling out 👍😊💡

    Excellent tip for keeping the new stick from falling out by slightly melting the end and "gluing" it to the existing stick! The timer plug would be great for a soldering iron also.

      Yes - I use it with my Hakko, as it's super easy to forget!

    Hi I’m going to buy a mains glue gun for workshop use at home. I’ve read reviews for the Bosch but hearing you say you have had yours for five years has made my mind up. Thanks for the review.

    Thank you so much for this side by side comparison!!
    For me this has pushed me to the pen
    I'm a diorama builder and those smaller house kits etc
    The chord of my offbrand gluegun has always bothered me + too much glue at once
    So the pen is great
    Especially with the 15s warmup, I'd just switch it off in between glue moments

      Thanks! Just curious do you find the newer mini pen glue sticks have lower adhesive properties? Perhaps I had some bad batches but for me they were never as good as the old pen.

    I had my glue gun 4 years not in constant use either .. I was mortified when this Christmas I was doing craft work with my granddaughter and it’s exploded in my face . The flash was so bright it’s changed the colour of my lenses on my glasses ( reactalight glasses so turned black like the sun was out ) needs less to say I binned it ... But today the other half bought me a pen and wow it’s a brilliant bit of kit

      Thanks. No sadly. I got two for this reason. It’s good for smaller jobs and kids craft projects.

    Great review. Thanks for sharing. How long does the corded version take to heat up? I guess I should be able to find the wattage online, but I have only ever used 10W 7mm guns, so wouldn't have a datum to work from. Another reviewer said that the corded version has some sort of ball baring valve in the nozzle that prevents glue leaking when the trigger is not being used. We all know about the puddle of glue hot glue guns create when left unattended and switched on. After viewing your video I rather think I _really_ need both of those guns. Thanks again for the heads up.

      Trevor Dennis from experience it’s about 1-2mins. So the Pens are faster for quick work. But also the glue stick temp is a factor and some take around 3-4mins to be usable.

      Trevor Dennis as regards overheating, I use a timer switch and this helps cycle the heating. But I also have a variable power resistor.

    what do you think Dewalt vs Bosch hot glue guns

    • @JudePullen
      @JudePullen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Would say Bosch have been in the game longer. As said in the video - the test is can you leave one for a night and it not catch fire. The new battery products are also solid.

      Sadly not - 7mm and 11mm respectively.

    I use my glue gun for kids craft and use different colour sticks. Obviously i would not like to use the whole stick to just wanting to change to a different colour. How can I take the rest of the glue stick out from within the gun or am I not able to do this? Such a shame to waste the whole glue just to want to use a different colour each time. Thanks.

    • @JudePullen
      @JudePullen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on what one you get. If it 'locks' the glue stick in place, this can make it hard to pull out. A tip (though do so at your own risk) is to repeatedly (gently) tap the trigger whilst pulling the stick (when heated), this will make the lock mechanism slip. I'd also suggest using a 7mm glue stick in a smaller glue gun to save waste. I recommend the Glue Pen for this reason as it has more 'craft' angle. Hope that helps.

      Bosch have a new glue pen out that uses tiny sticks and is designed for crafting. It’s shaped like an actual pen, think it’s called the gluey?

    • @JudePullen
      @JudePullen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tes Lord I have not tried Gluey as it’s a bit more ‘decoration’ focussed but it’s certainly fun for those who want that. Not sure how it compares on speed of heating. Let me know if you find out 🙂

      You can't do this with the pkp18 at least. It has an anti-removal barb, so you can't pull. It also melts half the stick into a reservoir inside. So changing color or type is not practical. This also means that it will keep dripping for 10-20 minutes after, you unplug it. That one is NOT for "arts and crafts". Get that ONLY if you need to glue very large objects.
