But the worst part are people who can't distinguish character from actor. Hate Skyler all you want, but people need to leave Anna alone and realize that she's playing a CHARACTER.

*May contain spoilers... Nah man, I totally get where she's coming from. Fearing for her kids after finding out what Walt did, wanting to protect them and all that makes total sense... and I really felt bad for her in the last season. But the moment she was okay with her douchebag boss stealing money and whatnot, but didn't think it was okay for Walt to be a criminal, especially considering he was just initially trying to leave their family in a safe financial situation before he died, was just downright hypocritical on her part. Sure... Ted's crimes and Walter's aren't really on the same level, but Skyler didn't know that. For all she knew, Walt was only a fucking meth-cook, not a homicidal-druglord-methcook. So yeah, the positions Skyler took were understandable, but the way she acted them out and justified them to herself wasn't... especially after she slept with Ted (while knowing he was skimming money, with her help, no less) just to spite Walt (who never stopped loving her). Don't get me wrong... She's an amazing character, but I don't think the writers meant for her to be liked by the general audience... otherwise they should have taken a different approach. It's worth mentioning that do like Anna Gunn even though I didn't like Skyler all that much. Oh, and my favorite character was Jesse (Yeah, bitch!! haha). Anyways, it was a damn great show and I already miss it like hell. :(
naal13 *contains spoilers*One thing I really like about the show is how layered the main characters are. Walt starts as the family fight and ends up being this horrible person. Hank fights the good fight for the DEA, but he also has an enormous ego that causes him to break the rules. Marie is a loving wife and nurse, but is a kleptomaniac. In Skyler's case, she is a mother and wife who is willing to protect her family at any cost, but she has her dark side just like everyone else. She becomes a criminal with both Walt and Ted, believing she is doing it to help people just like what Walt and Ted originally believed they were doing. In the end, Skylar is a victim of Walt just like everyone else and at least she really did truly keep on the side of her family until the end.
1900maniac Sure, the characters are very layered, but I have to disagree with you when you say that what Skyler did with Ted was because she thought she was helping people (and what I mean by "what she did with Ted" was helping him skim money - before she found out about what Walt did - and sleeping with him, not the part where she lends Ted money, which was necessary to protect her own family). She just went along because Ted was her boss. The proof being that, when she asked Ted why he did it (embezzle and whatnot), he came up with a lame excuse that it was to help his family, but then quickly dismisses it, saying he hadn't really thought about it (whereas Walt had always said he did it for the family). Sure, Walt became a horrible person, but his initial motivation was indeed wanting to help his family, unlike Ted. Which is why I was mad at Skyler for being pretty much okay with what Ted did but not with what Walt did (remembering she had no idea how deep Walt was actually in). So yeah, I truly appreciate the depth of all of Breaking Bad's characters, but a case can be made that Skyler, despite being well intentioned, was a hypocritical nagger. And even though Walt "admitted" he did it all for himself (because he liked it), he still made sure all the money went to his family... so there's that too. Sure, he was a maniac, but he also thought about his family till the end. But then again, that's just my opinion, and it doesn't really matter at all.

Out of all the characters in Breaking Bad, I sympathized with Skyler most by the time it ended. She was always so hated by everyone, but she was always the one who was looking out for the family, as Walt believed he was. And in Ozymandius (the best episode in the series, in my humble opinion) when Walt [SPOILERS] blames her for everything and basically mirrors what the internet said about her just to have respond with "I'm sorry", it was downright heartbreaking. More so than any other characters, I just wanted to give Skyler a hug. Anna Gunn is absolutely phenomenal.
He didn't blame her for everything. He knew the cops were listening, so he tried to make himself look like the bad guy and her to look like a victim that had no choice, so she'd get less time. She figured it out and just went: "Sorry."
Oh man it is heartbreaking to know that you did not understand that phone call.... He said all those horrible things because the cops were listening and he wanted to get her out of it, she understood it too.. Even if you did not understand it then, in a later scene Soul basically gave him kudos for making that phone call to save his wife
I know I am 4 months late but how the hell do you get 29 thumbs up for that? Anyone with a smidgen of common sense knew Walt was saying all of that because he knew the cops were listening and he wanted them to believe she really was the victim. Walt's facial expressions should have made that obvious.
He didn’t actually blame her, he knew the police would be listening in on the call so he said those things to exonerate Skylar and make himself the lone target of the cops/DEA. You could tell it crushed him to say those things just by looking at him in that scene. Walt is a master manipulator, even when he is doing it for good reasons.
I thought Skyler could have done better on how she handled conflict resolution towards the beginning of the series but as the show continued I grew more and more sympathetic towards. One thing I don't understand is why there's so much hate for Anna Gunn, whereas other actors who portrayed unlikable characters were lauded for their portrayal (eg - Jack Gleeson's playing Joffrey).
I think it's because she did such a phenomenal performance in her role that it's hard for some people to differentiate between Anna Gunn and Skyler White.

I look at Brian Cranstons hair and I keep thinking about Malcolm in the middle lol
This is awesome
BRYAN CRANSTON IS THE G.O.A.T!! Love that guy, such a good dramatic actor but brings so much humor to any situation, its incredible.
She's great, come on... I you hated her character is because she performed incredibly well
i laughed so hard when bryan said walter junior
What strikes me about Bryan Cranston is his intelligence and natural charisma.
Hadn't he been a successful actor he could have been a CEO of sorts or a politician.
You know you're a good actress when you can make the people really hate your character
I don't get why people hated Skyler as a character. She did nothing wrong besides have an affair and she was screwed over more than a lot of characters on that show
@@MarkQues-oq7cd what do you think affair means
@@MarkQues-oq7cd I find it fascinating that you think he didn't do anything wrong
@@MarkQues-oq7cd have you not seen the end? He did it for himself
"I waited until the BALL BUSTER left, I mean no offense!"
Honestly mom af
Think I'll rewatch the whole series
She's kinda hot..
+picklickwick Major MILF lol
mikecheck237
lol ikr, i thought she was so sexy in the episode Down (s2 e4) where she was putting on chapstick and being a bitch to walt lol

Well you ruined this thread, just saying weirdo
+patrick82895 way to go patrick -.-
Hank blinks with his hole entire eye structure
I appreciate how these guys have a sense of humor about Bryan's gags instead of sitting around crying about being sexually harrassed
hank's like "skyler. . . im not tryna catch a case bruh"
Walter Jr aha
