I think they played the scoring for special icons wrong on the tracks…you should go up on the tracks spaces equal to the card’s value..so if you had a first appearance on a value 2 card it should go up 2 spaces for that one symbol
Just a fyi when moving your marker on the score track for the highlighted icons on your cards you score the market value of the comic which had the icon on it not just 1 for each icon
Careers is probably the best old-school mass market game. Hidden player-chosen goals and die roll luck mitigation in a game from the 50's? That's amazing. Though it sounds like the rules may have changed a little over the years. Plus some of the confusing wording has been cleared up. Some different rules in the edition I have from the 2000's: -Opportunity knocks (OK) cards cannot be played while in Hospital or Unemployment. -If you play an OK card to move to a career/college entry, then you must enter that job. If you can't go in (like when Mike used one to go to college after getting a degree), then you can't play the card. -When you draw an OK card, you have to option of using it immediately. That way, you don't lose a turn playing it later. -The medical degree lets you get out of the Hospital for free. Plus all other players pay you when they pay to leave the hospital. -The "College" degree is just a generic degree that you can take if all the others are gone. There is no career which requires that degree in particular. If a job says you can do it for free if you have a college degree, then any of the degrees qualify. -If you land on a career entry space from a die roll, you can wait until the start of your next turn to decide if you will go in or not. If you get there by card, then you have to go in but don't pay for it until the start of tour next turn. This means if you are bumped to unemployment while on that space, you don't lose any entry fees. -You may declare bankruptcy at any time, and are forced to if you can't pay for a bad space. If you do, you basically reset your game--go to the start space, reset your money and salary to $1k each, lose all happiness/fame/degrees/cards. This is mostly used if something bad happens to you right out of the gate; if you go to the hospital or unemployment on your first turn, just declare bankruptcy and start over next turn.
I think one simple rules tweak would improve the play experience: you do NOT have to land on any of those interior tracks to access them. This gives the players far more control, and even feels thematic: I'm going to pursue this chance to go into sports (or whatever). But the dice (life is random) still yield what they do, and you move past that space - but still pursue your goals for fame or money or whatever in another course. Would play this TODAY with that simple tweak!
Here from the 4 squares review (Love this group). With one rules tweak, I'd play Careers: You can access those interior tracks without landing on them - paying the cost (continuing your roll) or getting in free because you have your access. It is not only more choice, it is more satisfying and thematic. Glad to see this one!
Family had the original 1955 version that we played when I was a kid and still remember playing this back then. Some of the tracks were named differently (e.g. Ecology was Farming, Sports was Uranium Prospecting, and Space was Expedition to the Moon, etc). The text of the career path squares was different as well to match with the old career paths but looks like the fame/happiness/$ reward values were similar. Interesting to see this after a lot of years.

That is correct
Anyone just get the new US release version of Comic Hunters and came here? Lol, excited to get it to the table!
I love how in the intro Tom can barely contain his laughter when Mike knocks the rulebook out of his hands.
I legit want the Comic Hunters game. It isn't just an "add to the list" but a desire to have, that's pretty rare.
Comic Hunter is one of my favorite games, imho the best brazilian game along with Brazil Imperial.
Me from the future. I picked it up! Let’s Go!!!

Holy cow that is awesome! Thanka for the clarification. I'm even more excited to play it again now.
Wow, good catch! I see that now on the rules uploaded to BGG.

I played Careers in England hundreds of times but it certainly wasn’t as stylish as that copy. It was a fun game to watch.

45:12 LOL “wait so you’re taking back your turn from 30 minutes ago?”
Just bought Comic Hunters today, it was the last one at the store ! Feeling lucky :-)
Suggestion: when recording, invert the top right mini view along the Y-axis. This way the person on the right would be on the right on both views, etc
100% agree. have mentioned it in chat before, hope they do it - inverted text on the mini cam would be worth it i think (too small to read anyway...)
This would mirror the text on the screen behind them.
A better solution probably would be to rotate the main screen by 180°
@@_Cervantez yes, that would work too!

Hey Mike, I was also born in 1971!
Comic Hunters does look really cool. I'd like to play it some time. Careers I'll take a pass - just watching the team play it was good enough for me
Did Comic Hunters have a wide release? I can’t find it anywhere.
It's localized to Brazil. I'd be surprised it it ever came to the US with the same theme (because of copyright).
After “Careers,” they should do “Go For It!” next!
I would love this game! how do I get a copy????
as a former comics book nerd and a bit of a collector Comic Hunter has great art...I don't think there is much of a game there though
I guess you can pay a recruiter $500 to help you get a job?

Dear Careers. the first woman in space was claimed in 1963. Your 1971 version should know this. I remember why I didn't miss you.
We all live in glass houses, and ...
Probably an amero-centric game.
