Awesome...so great to see bands like Amorphis (or Katatonia for that matter) actually to EVOLVE over the years...thanks to Esa and Pasi, I think...and of course Tomi Joutsen...:-)
@DarthDaegor I must honestly admit that I started to listen to Amorphis with Eclipse. I knew them from before with Tuonela, but I Pasi's Voice was too irritating for me. But once they got joutsen, I loved it... so maybe I'm a bit biased. What you may find lacking is the vast contrast between koivusaari's growls and pasi's high shrill voice... however, I never liked that. Now that Joutsen sings the old songs, I can enjoy them far more.
@DarthDaegor pfff, the growls didn't have half the power in the original compared to this version... there's a r eason why Koivusaari stopped growling and gave the task to joutsen...
@ I think alot of people don't realize Tomi K was the original, and Pasi was second. That being said imo Tomi J is the best in the business, Tomi K was/is great, and Pasi is good but a distant 3rd
Trevor Payne Yes, I always forget the actual term for it, but it's the same physical mechanism as burping. I do it myself from time to time but this guy is really doing too much of it for my taste, hardly and real singing in between there.
arangor82 It's nowhere near the same mechanism 😂. You don't have to swallow a lot of air to growl. You have to swallow a lot of air to burp (Without liquid). Also, when you growl, your throat is in a different shape, than when you burp.
Trevor Payne From what I know ist the same shape of the vocal tract and even the same elements vibrating , mainly the epiglottis. You are correct about the air though. You just have to push air through a burping shape of the vocal tract.

It really is! Not my favourite but one of the best albums. However I like Tomi's growls more.
They were in my area last Sunday and I missed the show. I hope i get another chance someday.
