Tienes razón este vocal es bueno pero se escucha forzada su voz, mientras que Tommy te transportaba a los lugares de batallas épicas y bosques sombríos ❤
Yaaaaay, Tomi K on volcals too! For me, his take on harsh vocals was a huge part of the atmosphere of the original record. I was totally blown away by it when I first heard it in '96. I just love this band so fkn much.
I was a small kid and somewhere back in 1995 a neighbor from my building, 8 years older and a friend of my brother, gave me all his metal cassettes because he was no longer into metal and was now a football hooligan. One of the tapes, a Sepultura album, had one extra song recorded from somewhere, and it was "Black Winter Day". I had absolutely no idea what the band was, what the song was called, or how to find it. Again, it was 1995, I was a small kid who loved metal from a very early age, I didn't know English yet, but I absolutely loved the blend of piano, synths, and death metal. Then, at some point in 2001 a random guy from my school was listening to this on his diskman (it was super modern at the time, no one had these) was listening to this, I heard it through his earphones and rushed to ask him what the band was and what the song is. I found out, he burned me a CD and gave me some licensed Soilwork and In Flames CDs to listen to at home. Also, I wanna say, Tomi is an absolute beast and he doesn't brag about it but damn this guy is perfect live, with incredible growls and cleans.
I had a similar intro to melodic Swedish death metal. My metal-head friend from Beirut, Lebanon visited the states. He had Opeth and In Flames CD's, I was blown away by what I heard, had never heard anything like it, like total instant eargasm. The genre has changed substantially. Loved the good ol days.
Hell yeah! So rare and so pleasant to see Tomi Koivusaari on vocals! Thanks to the band for this little gift. The keyboard solo was also intriguing. Good performance, hope the rest of it is also so powerful!
Listening to this song brings me back to my teenage years when I listened to death metal all day long, those sounds still move me. Tremendous song, I've been following Amorphis since the album The Karelian Isthmus, keep making that progressive metal. Greetings from Chile.
The Singer, The Band, The Album, The Song... All F**king LEGENDS! I can't wait to hear the rest of the recording, hoping that a DVD will accompany this ear-candy...
What are you actually talking about? I was an enormous fan of Amorphis from Tales through to Eclipse. But, since then, with only a few exceptions, they have basically been repeating themselves. The "Amorphis Sound." C'mon, you don't need to try to lick their balls on TH-cam, they won't see this.
@@jpdunphy1 maybe you should check the other bands/side projects from its members: - Silver Lake (Esa Holopainen) - Bjorko (Tomi Koivusaari) - Octoploid (Oppu Laine) - Cemetery Skyline (a supergroup with Santeri Kallio, Mikael Stanne, etc.) - Dead Talks (a death metal band with Tomi Joutsen as guitarist) - The Eternal (a gothic metal band with Jan Rechberger and the ex-Amorphis Niclas Etelavuori)
Back in the days.....black winter day was the first song in 1994 i listen to......can remember that day in July.....one day later i was a " die hard fan" ...till today !!!! thank you amorphis for everything , you changed my life from one day to the next 🤘🤘🤘🤘 Kiitos Amorphis 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Una lastima que la interpretación haya sido en vivo pero sin público, muchas personas lo habrían disfrutado mucho. Pero bueno, es una carta de amor a los fans "de siempre". ❤
"Well, yeah. I think Tomi has a lot more of an energetic style of growling. It brings a little bit more energy to those songs than I could do. I think it would be impossible for me to do the whole set with that growling style; because I didn’t have the right technique. My throat was on fire after every gig we had at the time. I’m glad that we have Tomi now. I can do some things there and there, but not the whole show, never." said Tomi K in an interview
Tomi K was never intended to be the permanent main vocalist. They were having trouble finding one early on, so he was fine doing it for a time, but he always wanted to eventually just focus on guitar. Vocals were also pretty rough on him since he didnt have great technique for it (and after a few years, he couldnt do it for very long anymore)
Love both singers, just wasn't expecting a new one 🤣 still y'all are great AF as always edit: the instrument solos are what really let me know this is amorphis
I love the rawness, and the playing, the song, and that the guitar-guy sings again.... But is it recorded straight into a mixing--board or something? cause there is some shit that doesn't sound so nice... guitars... etc... Just saying... But the totality totally rules!!! more death metal, and more real music!!!! I have faith in Amorphis
Koivusaari's voice instantly brings me back to '94. Sounds so cold. He should sing more.
Exactly what I've been saying for years!! His vocals are my favorite in death metal 🖤
Tienes razón este vocal es bueno pero se escucha forzada su voz, mientras que Tommy te transportaba a los lugares de batallas épicas y bosques sombríos ❤
This song is one of the reasons why I fell in love with metal!
Goosebumps to hear tomi koivusaari 🥹😭 !!!! The original growls!!!!

Roots & Tales From The 1000 Lakes made me real metalhead in 1996 - 2 favourite cassettes
great history man

Tomi is rhythm guitar and growls and not cleans
@@maksymbilka Tomi Joutsen, not Koivusaari
Thanks for singing parts, Tomi Koivusaari. Awesome to see!
This is beyond amazing. Its wild to think that they still can play this in same intencity like back in 94. Masterpiece is awaken up from slumber.

Super great album and wonderful song….my favorite of the band….love it ❤
No words can describe the satisfaction of hearing this masterpiece in a modern-day re-recording, thank you!!! 🤟
Timeless classic. Absolutely love it.
I started listening to Amorphis because of this song. It gets better with the years. 🤘
The whole album is awesome!
What a song!
Hearing Esa playing his lead guitar makes me wanna go back leaning it. I love his riffs, thats how an eletric guitar should be played.
It's a very fun song to learn. I was just into it recently.
Loved to hera Tomi growl!!!
Best live version so far

Great this song
Wtf Tomi K should still be providing additional growls on their albums, sounds so good
My favorite metal band NEVER disappoints!

Absolute awesomeness! \,,/
Learned about these guys from the keyboardist in Abigail Williams about 15 years ago, this song in particular. Absolute masterpiece
Hell jee 👍 🔥 very Gool 🤘
I need Tomi K doing more back ups. Even dual vocals. DAMN! That would be amazing.
Muito boa versão. Os clássicos da banda tendo o reconhecimento que merecem 👏🇧🇷 🔥🔥🔥
Oi garota!! 🖐🏻😊
Listening to Tomi K sing is like reliving Tales.

Tomi Koivusaari's vocals make this song extra special. Anyone knows why Amorphis decided to replace him?

This band ages like fine wine
But, this cliche has aged like a beached whale off the coast of Florida.
@@jpdunphy1 so...? Your point?
Äijät vetää klassikoita krapulassa tyhjälle salille. Ymmärrän fiiliksen. :D
whow
Weird that Queen of Time and Tales were both recorded live *without* an audience.
Koivusaari's grow is so deep it almost feels to me like an Esophageal voice. Any thoughts guys?
Classic song from a classic record, but I wished they play it with the record's tuning, it sounds a little weird with this higher tuning ! 🤨
Beast Boys ´s t-shirt ?
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏x dios
I’m surprised by the quality of this video and of course the performance
Is this a new singer? I haven't listened in about 8 years tbh
not exactly new anymore.. i mean he joined the band like 20 years ago.
Oops 😅🤣

What's the point of having no audience?
Sorry, but the cover version from children of bodom is so much better...
Holy shit its so much worse than orginal. Like its good but holy shit
what happend to their guitar sound...it´s awful
