They are a good band, but that statement isn't true. It's just they have famous members and more attention. Mordkaul or Lilvøs for example are both better bands musically and more old school melodeath as well. Or the last 4 Night in Gales records are also more exciting than THE.
Exactly. I heard this song without knowing who these guys were at first, and laughed in my mind that "dang, these guys know their In Flames".... Makes sense. :D
@@bgdtlbrs Colony came out in 1999 and Clayman in 2000 and they both share similar sounds because both are classic and great. I hear similar sounds to Scorn off Colony or Swim off Clayman. It is a natural continuation off these 2 albums to me, the direction IF could have gone instead of RtR onward. Long live THE!
Whatever Mikael Stanne took during Covid, I want the same, cause he's reached Ultra Instinct level staying that consistent and creative with Dark Tranquillity, The Halo Effect and Cemetery Skyline all at once.
In times where authenticity is rare and modern bands think tuning lower and playing open string makes them heavy, listening to this band is like an oasis for my ears, this is what I ve been missing, the good old Gothenburg sound
Someone could play this for me in a blind test...even without the vocal track, I would know who the musicians are. It's like they never stopped. Fxcking awesome.
Talk about literally mind blowing. Man, Mikael's been keeping himself busy these last few years. Between Dark Tranquility, Cemetery Skyline, this, touring with all three of those bands and somehow finding the time to squeeze in a few songs for Metal: Hellsinger. Guy's being downright prolific.
I remember falling in love with the sound of In Flames, Children of Bodom back in ... early 2000's this song took me back to that feeling!!! 🤯 The Halo Effect!!! Wow I'm buying their music now!!!!!
This is my first time hearing The Halo Effect, and before looking at the video i said "this sounds like dark tranquillity mixed with in flames". Fuck yes.
I'm just so grateful that this project exists. These are all of my high school heroes still killing it. Seeing them walk on stage together again last year was absolutely amazing. Can't wait for the next album!
@@thiagocalixto6101 oh! Seria a chance de eu ver o Jesper em ação. Fui no in Flames qdo vieram pela primeira vez em 2009 ,e ele já estava fora da banda. Se confirmar The Halo effect e Opeth nesse festival, irei 🙏🏻🔥
I’ve missed the sound and energy of the early In Flames albums, it’s a welcomed irony that all it took was most of that eras In Flames to team up with the original singer to produce magic.
Another masterwork! So pleasant to hear the signature of each member in these songs, Jesper has something that no one can replicate. Really hope to see him in the next tour. All the best guys
I honestly believe the Halo Effect forming and releasing that debut album gave In Flames a fucking massive kick up the arse to release their response... both were glorious to 45 year old me who yearns so deeply and passionately for the 90's era In Flames.
Foregone was actually finished recording before Days of the Lost came out, so I don't think The Halo Effect really influenced it at all, but because it came out afterwards, everyone will (logically) make that conclusion. Both albums were great, though! It's a good time to be a fan of Gothenburg melodic death metal.
A very good song. I love the melodies combined with the rhythmic riffing. Also the drums play a mid tempo double bass part from 2:00 which I find very great to listen to. I am excited to listen more from The Halo Effect. :)
Business as usual and I love it. With all the projects and bands they have been involved with over the decades I am amazed that there’s always another riff, another beat, another chorus that hasn’t been done before and they turn them into rippers that are both, old school goosebumpy as well as future proof. Nice one !
If I only heard this on a phone I might wonder how the hell I missed this back in the days of the good In Flames! So glad they kept their unique sound alive!!!
If the rest of the album be as good as this track it'll be a bomb. We deserve to have one more great album of the melodic death before nuclear ashes will cover the planet so let it be it.
STRONG Clayman vibes. This is what I was looking for from their first album. Most of the first album just sounded like DT to me. Now I'm hearing the mix of older In Flames.
What a bomb! This one brings me back to the times of the In Flames I always loved. Of course when Jesper, Daniel and Peter are involved! So much Colony/Clayman vibes here, wow!
This part reminds me a little bit to Children of Bodom and enbody the invisible!!! And the solo the first part to take this life and path of the fierce resistence. The song is a compilation of great riffs and melodies inspired in great songs of the past!!
In Dark Flames We Trust!!!!

there's a Canadian band named Senate who did a very similar style release called THE GREAT NORTHERN SCENEKILL in 2006.

There is something so beautiful about Jesper and Dan Svenson's style. You cannot recreate that magic.
Dan is easily my favorite drummer in metal. Every note he hits is just perfect
