  • If you are new to camping, or are considering self-contained camping this video could be really useful for you.
The Porta Potti is a gamechanger when you travel to remote and free camp settings that have no toilet facilities.
We'll guide you through the following:
    1. Components of the humble porta potti
    2. How to set it up
    3. Chemicals
    4. Unfortunate mishaps we've had and how to avoid them
    5. Using a dump point + etiquette
    6.Cleaning your porta potti
Please note that we are not sponsored by Thetford or Supercheap (chemicals). This is the second Thetford Porta Potti we have owned and are very happy to continue using this brand. With regards the chemicals, Joe has purchased both Thetford and Supercheap brands and is happy with both.

Hi Gaby, so pleased you enjoyed this video. They are a great brand, we’ve owned 2 over an 8 year period, with no problems. Yes, I’ve been leaving it to hubby to empty too…but next camping trip I’m going to take one for team ‘pink’ and have a go. We’ll video this for a bit of fun too LOL 😩🫣

Simple and informative. We’ve been using a Porta for over 10 years now…..they work. Wife won’t let me clean on dining room table though 😮😊😂

Good video guys, I also had water coming out to fast around our seat on our unit. What I found is where the pipe meets in the tank to the pump was mixing with air, a simple s/steel hose clamp worked treat. Happy travels

So glad we watched this tonight before going to empty our caravan loo, it's been sitting for 3 weeks oops. I will make sure I don't get to close when I take the lid off lol

OMG guys! We had a friend who left his for a while then decided to empty into his home toilet…he got a nasty surprise, complete with spray over the walls. LOL, off you go and do it now Jon!

@@RoaminWithTheRubes unfortunately Jon has broken his foot so I have to do it. Might leave the lid down and open the vent a little at a time. Yikes maybe I should just throw the whole cassette out and start again lol

Poor Jon…and poor you Tracie now having to do this task when you know what can possibly go wrong. Wishing you the best of luck 🤞
