    What do you reckon? What's your favourite toilet chemical? 😉

      Which one does not smell?
      I have tried a few chemicals but they all seem to have that same kind of of perfumey chemical formaldehyde type smell that seem present with all these. I was a just a kid some 45 years back and our camping toilets smelled exactly like they do today. Of that weird artificial sweetish smell. I cannot stand it after some time.

    • @AdventuresWithRosy
      @AdventuresWithRosy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeh that smell is an odd one huh! Those blue chemicals all seem to smell the same. Avoid the lavender or tropical scented ones… they are pretty potent!

    As occasional caravan users the Thetford lavender product is our go to, and seems to be quite effective and not too expensive. We also use a product that the NZMCA sells called dunny stuff, which I think is pretty much just sodium percarbonate based - it definitely doesn't mask the odour or colour as well. I think it's better in the larger black tank systems

    We tried the Walex Porta Pak Tropical Express however we too found the smell overpowering and not that pleasant. We now use the Lavender scent Walex Porta Pak and they're wonderful! Because of the nice lavender scent we can comfortably empty the cassette into a normal flush toilet or dump station.

      Ah thanks I’ll give the lavender ones a try! Agreed about the tropical ones, we found them over powering too!

    Great report. Thetfort says to add the product into the cassette but NOT through the bowl FYI. We use the generic napisan and add 3 drops of water based peppermint or eucalyptus oil into the cassette at the same time works out about 35c Australian per dose. Ironically wecfind the generic Woolworth brand soaker works better than the brand name! Thanks for the great report keep up the informative info! P.s. please don't think I was criticising you pouring the product via the toilet. Its just that I readvin the thetford manual that some products added that way can cause issues with the open/shut valve. Cheers

      @@AdventuresWithRosy thanks for reading and your response. We really enjoy your channel. It was only that we bought the new caravan 3 weeks ago that I bothered to fully read the thetford instructions and found out about pouring straight into the cassette via the outpour nozzle! I

      Hi, What is the name of the Woolworths chemical you referenced? Is it just Woolworths brand toilet cleaner? And also do you have a link for them including the water based peppermint and eucalyptus?

    • @waynehobbs5175
      @waynehobbs5175 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Holodomor4.0 hi, its Woolies home brand washing pre soaker. Like napisan but better. Used normally to presoak your clothes. The peppermint or eucalyptus oil I think we bought there too but its important that its soluble.
      We have since changed vans and now use the SOG system with no chemicals, even better.

    • @AdventuresWithRosy

      Sorry I should have explained that, a cassette toilet is basically a mini black tank... our caravan doesn’t have a black tank (uncommon in Australia\English made caravans) loads of American made RVs have them though 👍

    Hold onto your cash USED MOTORHOMES going down on price 2024

    • @AdventuresWithRosy

      Oh really? Is that because people are going back to international travel etc?

    • @goldielocks2621
      @goldielocks2621 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have been studying sales of Motorhomes for the past 28 months, sales in the second half of this year slowed dramatically, certain popular models took on average four to six months to move. Dealers have greedily inflated prices over the past 12 to 18 months and that is now causing sales to slow on the secondhand market also the shortage of new Fiat Chassis helped inflate prices but now we have New models finally hitting the shop floor that will only see the seasoned buying Motorhomer trading . I now see more and more Vans offered for sale due to lack of use, the continued rise in fuel costs and realisation of how little use people are making from their Motorhomes is now beginning to bite.
      It has been unique to see Vans making more money post sales in the industry and that is the reason People are happy to let their Van sit for now. I believe the flood gates will open pre season of 2024 and that is why I'm saying to the buyer to wait.@@AdventuresWithRosy
