Honestly, this was the match of the Night. FTR looked great. I was worried when Dax got injured. Jeff Cobb & Great O-Khan weren't bad either, hell even Jobber Vice did their job. Now FTR just has to beat the Hardly Boys for the AEW championships and become the real belt collectors.
Bobby Cruise should be FTR's personal ring announcer. His introduction of them here was awesome.

I think Jim could have enjoyed the work in the Lee/Swerve vs Kanemaru/Desperado match from the pre show, it was much better than it had any rights to be! Great chemistry these two teams.

Bucks weren’t even gonna get the titles till Jeff Hardy got suspended. They switched the OG finish to that match.
the Dax injury was a work I believe, I think it was a play on the whole “the show is cursed” thing with all of the top talent being injured, it was really cool imo cause it made FTR look like the toughest guys on the roster. on a show where every top guy couldn’t show up due to an injury, Dax injures his shoulder and goes back out to win a belt. idk that’s just how I saw. It was awesome booking!
I also didnt think it should have been a 3 way. Roppongi vice was obviously not going to win.

Forbidden Door overall was better than I imagined it was going to be. But the best thing about the show in my opinion was how much better the commentary was WITHOUT J.R. and Schiavone.
Yeah. As much as I like JR, he isn't what he used to be and it's really beginning to show. Schiavone should just stick to interviews.

FTR are actually TRIPLE champions, Corny. They're still in their second reign of the AAA Tag Team Championship. They're the 'belt collectors' of tag team wrestling. They're more ridiculously decorated than the Undisputed ERA (RIP) EVER was.
Second reign as AAA tag team champs? When did they first lose it? And when did they win it again for the second time?
I will disagree with Jim on this, yes Trent's best known right now as part of one of AEWs dumbest teams, but he was the better half of the two and I refuse to pigeon-hole him just because of his association with Chucklefuck, even though the two haven't had much of a run in the US (and personally I dislike that team name) he and Rocky are a good team, let the two of them get some momentum going without the Les Schwab Assistant Manager being part of it and I'm sure you'll start liking Trent again. But somebody please flush the toilet and send O-Khan down the pipes where he belongs
One thing that I noticed is that when FTR came to the ring, the place exploded. The other teams I felt the crowd didn't really care for and it showed once Dax got taken out of the match. Considering that FTR has been the sacrificial lambs of AEW, I was fearful of the results of this match. I mean NJPW had to get something, although Great O-Khan has been terrible every time I've seen him here. And Roppongi Vice has that cult following that AEW seems to enjoy entertaining themselves with in being partial towards. Not to mention they haven't had gold in AEW and Tony Khan enjoys being like Oprah when it comes to gratuitous title awards. I mean, Trent has been around for a while, had that injury and deserves something because of reasons, right?
Luckily, I was wrong but again my assumptions are the results of consistent bad booking for FTR. That ref spot looked rough and the crowd really gave the guy crap for it. However, they recovered once FTR got the pin. Not sure if the should injury is legit or not but this is AEW we need at least one injury per show.
I think the key though from this result was a possible hint from Kevin Kelly where he talked about how he hoped to see FTR in NJPW sometime. And it does look like NJPW will have another cross promotional card down the line, except in Japan. So I'm sure once more of the COVID thing passes or becomes normalized (which it does), I imagine that AEW will start sending their talent overseas and I'm sure FTR will be happy to wrestle out there. But they really need better tag team competition from NJPW because Cobb and O-Khan to me were pretty meh. Maybe it's that I haven't watched NJPW in any serious manner since '98 or so but outside of a few people, stuff like this just felt like prelim bums.
Either way, it's good to see FTR being decorated in this manner. At least, they believe in the ability and people are really taking to them. But they really need to get those AEW tag titles. The AAA and IWGP tag titles are just on loan and the ROH belts don't feel like anything because the actual company is defunct. If they can get the AEW tag titles while holding the other three as well as having a long reign, then they can truly claim their legacy and stand next to the Steiners and Road Warriors.

Superstar Graham had a tape called 20 years too soon that certainly applies to FTR. In their case it's 30 years too late but on the other hand maybe there just in time to remind the next generation of what that branch of tag team wrestling should look like. They are cut from that brain buster branch of tag wrestling and the bucks are cut from the rock n roll express/work rate branch. Oddly enough there's no midnight express branch being represented today.

The same way The Bucks and RNR Express are cut from the same stone. Agile team that relies on their athletic skill and not their power. Not rooted in technical ability but strikes and speed
Having multiman championship matches with NJPW kind of defeats the purpose of having them. They arent known for their multiman championship matches. They are known for their 1v1 or 2v2 matches. But unfortunately, its a politics thing. They need people to take falls instead of having great singles matches which is the dream card.
Understanding that TK and his friends don't give a shit about wrestling and they just want to have fun or whatever makes things easier for me. I still hope they don't fuck Wardlow, FTR and MJF up.

He wont turn on them. Would take losing to him or an extreme political take he doesn't agree with. FTR still presented themselves same way they normally do. If anything felt like a way to have another match involving FTR vs Ass Boys and the Acclaimed.
FTR is fine because they did not present themselves as equals to Danhausen. Actually, they might have raised Danhausen a little to their level.
At one point in this match Trent ducked a clothesline and that pantomime halfwit Bryce Remsburg also ducked down even though he was about 7 feet away and also HE'S THE FUCKING REFEREE.
I hate the refs of aew him , Aubrey and the corpse ref are the worst refs I have ever seen in my 25 years of watching wrestling, yet these are the main refs it's a joke absolute goofballs
The injury angle was being sold well all the way up to the return. That's where it fell apart for me. He goes straight to throw punches with both arms, completely no selling an arm and/or shoulder injury. Damn good match anyway.

Trent is good, they just use him oddly. I've like most of his single matches, and that should be how they use him.
Trent kind of did it to himself. He decided to let Rocky Romero be the straight man. He decided to have himself and Taylor ride in his mother's minivan. And you know, twelve years ago being a buffoon in professional wrestling was still kind of novel, but with each passing decade buffoons become less and less endearing because they just keep growing in number.
Funny thing is FTR are primed to win the AEW tag titles next in some PPV later against the young bucks. They're going for the belt collector thing

The depth of Aew is incredible, even with all the injuries they still have plenty of capable wrestlers to take their place.
The storytelling of the injured arm was great, now all that reamains is to defeat the |Young Bucks and hold 4 titles.

I can't wait till Jim watches and reviews the "trios" match from this weeks Dynamite. Caster and the Gunn boys vs Danhausen and... and as soon as I saw they were going to be mystery partners I said and I'm being serious, "It's going to be FTR just to pee in Cornette's Post Toasties."
he will shit on it just because, but the match was actually good. It is as close to classical wrestling as we can get today. Danhausen did a great job being the weak babyface in the team who is singled out by the heels, made the hot tag when he could. Dax not wanting to tag him in at one point. The finish where the cheating heels tactic backfires. I really enjoyed this.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think the inevitable conclusion to all this, whether it's in weeks or months, is FTR vs The Young Bucks in a winner takes all match.
The Young Bucks will win and whether it's true or not, they can claim to being the "Greatest Tag Team All Time" on the basis of holding all these belts simultaneously.
At which point, they might not ever compete in another winner takes all match. They can lose a title every now and then, but since the belts are from different promotions, it would be difficult to have all these things aligned ever again.
well, one of the bucks said that 2022 is the year of FTR, that they just enjoy watching them so killing their momentum will be a hypocrisy and shot in the foot. I think Bucks will do the job if they have another match.

I have absolutely LOVED the Young Bucks vs FTR series so far and I honestly think FTR are so over right now and the story is right there that I believe a 2 Out Of 3 falls winner take all match between Young Bucks and FTR should MAIN EVENT All Out. Say what you want about the Young Bucks but them and FTR are the two teams the most that have defined tag team wrestling this past 6 years. Plus a match that involves the IWGP Heavyweight, AAA, ROH and AEW Tag Titles should main event a PPV.
They have never really gave Bucks vs FTR a good story when it is literally so simple, who is the best team? Is it the team with the most prestigious tag titles in wrestling or the team with the most tag titles in wrestling? Both are one a piece so it makes sense for 2 Out Of 3 Falls. By the way, FTR 100% win this match and drop the AEW titles to maybe Santana and Ortiz or Moxley and Danielson or Moxley and Yuta which is a spin off from the Punk and Moxley feud which that feud also gives Dax his next dream match he wants that being against Bryan Danielson
Afraid this will however still build to The Bucks beating them for all the titles, especially since I read today that The Bucks declined winning the IWGP titles but offered up FTR as the guys who should have won

i think you meant dislocation not separation. a dislocated shoulder is, while painfyl, fairly easy to pop in and go on using arm. yes with a ;pt of pain. i know from personal experience with both on either shoulder. a separated shoulder is more about ligaments and cant just be popped back in place. from what you said, it seems like a dislocation instead of separation/

Even if they did, they’re consistently supported FTR otherwise. And even if they did, it doesn’t mean they can’t like everything else they do. You can love a band and hate one of their albums. You can love a tv show and say one of the seasons contained bad decisions.

F...T...R... Best tag team in the world, and in my opinion, best tag team of the past 10 years. I love Bobby Cruise introducing FTR. Babyface or heel, they can do it effortlessly. They are so over as babyfaces.
The quick smile that Dax gave walking down the ramp when he saw the FTR section sign was awesome. You can tell that they LOVE the business. They deserve everything that they are getting. Tony Khan must have been listening to Cornette and improved their booking.
Great match from FTR and United Empire, could've done it without Roppogi vice but they were not garbage too so still the only good match in the ppv.

Was waiting for Jim's advice on the "1 count, 2 count" deal. I was having to explain what happened to the rest of the viewing party while the crowd is chanting you F'd up. Simple but crucial enough advice.

FTR winning was necessary, the Tag Team diviosn is pretty much dead in NJPW, only a couple of worthy teams. FTR having the titles will help that division so much

I was there and missed The entire match because I had to get out of my seat and walk around cause I was nodding off. I hoped to see some of it after I got something to eat but the workers in the Concessio Stand where moving EXTREMELY SLOW! By the time I placed my order, the Bell already rung
AEW fans have this weird on / off switch where a wrestler can literally be involved in a clown gangbang and then, when they're supposed to have an actual match, they'll take them seriously. I don't know how they do it.
Well it is fake, which makes it easy lol regardless if it's a comedy match or a technical match. It's still all fake.
Jim's "eat the Elmer's glue and say thanks for the ice cream" analogy is perfect for that, there's general wrestling marks and then there's just... I don't know, like cucks or something, they're just waiting to accept whatever crap they put out lol

I know the movie is fake, but I can't get into it after that. If you watch stuff with literally no brain activity at all, then I can see how that would be an easy thing to do.

Dax injury help add actual in-ring drama to the match. I popped and almost cried seeing Dax come back to the ring.
This is why I can't take their criticism about AEW with any merit. They said FTR couldn't come out with the AAA tag titles when they clearly came out with them they don't even watch the product enough Jims a racist joke
Trent with his mother appearing on camera with the mini van (along with Pockets and Chuckle F*ck) was one of the lamest things any older fan of wrestling would see in pro wrestling. It's kinda sad because Trent is in good shape and is a good worker, but I'm with Jim and Bryan, if I don't ever see a match with him again, I wouldn't be sad. Trent would have to disappear for a while, come back, and then turn heel on his mom (intentionally crash the van and throw her down) to try to get more over with the audience at this point. Even then, it would probably still come across as phony because he would still be doing some kind of storyline or character stuff with his mom on tv and hasn't moved away from it
