I don’t know what would be sadder: seeing the Hardys botching their way through these nostalgia driven matches on AEW, or finding them both surrounded by businessmen like the end of Requiem for a Dream.
The fact that the Hardy's don't have the common sense to just tell Tony, no, we will not wrestle lower teams in stupid gimmicky matches, also says a lot about them as well as Tony.
I said the same thing after the match. How can Jeff Hardy eliminate someone in this match when he was no longer involved. I get having him and the big guy help, but Matt needed to put the other guy through the table.
These were the same rules as the 2000 Royal Rumble match with the Dudleys - a bunch of tables were broken but not by being driven through by offensive moves so didn't count.
@@ofs82 there were a couple times that happened. Jeff Hardy was legally eliminated though. He should not have been able to eliminate afterwards. In the 2000 rumble, the legal guys were involved at the end.
I'm honestly think you Tony Khan just doesn't have the patience, or then he wants to "give the fans what they want", which right now is Hardy tomfoolery every single week. With how little he uses some of his talent, it's amazing how it he seems to be unable to use others. He had Jeff Hardy available and he just couldn't wait a week or two to start using him on his shows. He didn't do any build up towards the implosion of Matt Hardy's group. They just turned on Matt because Jeff was there and available. Tony Khan wants everything and he wants it now. He has no sense for timing or build up.
The Hardy’s need to take a page out of the edge book and evolve. Matt can’t work no more, it’s time. Matt could easily manage Jeff in a new character. Matt could Be the Paul Paul Bearer to Jeff undertaker. Khan need to stop booking them like this. Jeff is going to get hurt. Use them smart.
I think the irony is that in a vacuum the booking is quite logical. Matt Hardy has his heel group that got taken over by Andrade so the heels beat him up and his brother makes the save and now the Hardy's feud with the faction that kicked Matt out. But the problem is that it lacks the awareness that Andrade's group is much lower in star power than a reformed Hardy Boyz. And it fails to take into account that the Hardy's are washed up. If Andrade was more over and the Hardy's were ten years younger the booking of this would mostly make sense.
This entire match was COMPLETE AND UTTER DOG EXCREMENT. So many botches, the rules of this match made absolutely no sense, & being booked as total shells of the Hardys. It was miserable!!!!!
As for the no build thing about Jeff showing up, I say this honestly that everyone who has been released by WWE is expected to show up in AEW weekly. It's basically who's next to appear when someone is getting beat down and the arena goes dark and the lights come back on or just simply show up. As for the match, we all understand and know that age happens and wrestlers are no exception. I do t expect 24 year old movements from either Hardys, however, they need to save these gimmick matches and big moves for special occasions. These matches are really exposing them ruining their nostalgia, credibility, and believability, but ya know got get those ratings up, so Khan and the Meltzers can drop a look at what/who we have now tweets
My biggest complaint AFTER the nonsensical finish of the eliminated team member winning, was how many tables they broke SETTING THEM UP! That was painful and the Butcher would not learn from his mistakes and handle those gimmicked things more carefully.
Jeff had momentum before leaving wwe, went from a potential feud with roman reigns to having a overly done match with ladders against a bunch of jobbers LOL, what a fucking joke have the hardyz become,
At this point, somebody should start counting how many weeks AEW goes _without_ someone being put through a table. In the span of 2 episodes, Wardlow and the Hardys have used up about 5 or 6 tables.
They removed the discussion thread and the elimination botch from squaredcircle because it hurt the mods little feelings. If It was WWE it would be #1 post.
At this rate, Jeff is going to end up in a wheelchair, not only him, but Sting too, And you can make fun of WWE's style and call it soft, but it allows guys to wrestle longer thus prolonging their ability to make a living...
yeah he cant take much more punishment to his body for too long. Jeff is in pain and probably sober and Matt is also not in the same shape anymore. It was really sad to see that. It was such a clusterfuck and somebody could have got seriously hurt.
This match was ROTTEN!! With that said, The Hardys should be used like Sting. They don’t need to have a match every week and they don’t need to do the extreme shit all of the time.
Jeff connects so well with the audience, you really don’t have to do much to him to get heat. I really hope he doesn’t think he NEEDS to do the high risk stuff regularly
"and then they all looked at each other" that made me laugh because we all know what he's talking about. That happens all the time where after an angle, everyone stares at each other while the camera cuts to commercial
How much of this is the Hardy’s own choice? We know Tony is fairly open with wrestlers choices so much of this may just be Matt and Jeff refusing to slow down. Allowing wrestlers to have creative control is noble but, sometimes they need to be reeled in.
i listened to Matt Hardy talk a bit about this match on his channel and even his wife was confused because the rules weren't explained correctly. I'm not a fan of these types of matches to begin with but seeing the Hardys perform this way at their age in a nearly uncontrolled environment where their worst instincts take over exposes all the flaws that the WWE was really good at hiding for so many years. This type of match was good when they first starting doing it because they weren't doing it every week and the WWF was trying to compete and modernize their program with more flashy stuff. So the fans ate it up. But I still never cared for their original ladders match just because it never felt like a great match and was just a bunch of spots. Come AEW and Tony Khan is fulfilling his wet dream of attempting to re-create 1999 but the problem is that everyone is a lot older, not as healthy and not necessarily wiser. The thing is that you need to have the wrestlers protect themselves from themselves and Tony does a terrible job at understanding why virtually every TV show there's at least one injury. In the Hardys' case, I'm worried that they're going to really damage themselves. Both are roughly near my age and I can say that it just gets harder and harder as you don't heal as fast as you get older. Instead, of putting these exhibitions on for their PPV where they might be able to draw a crowd and make those events special, they're having them every week against job guys. There's no build but just here ya go. I mean, I remember when Benoit started changing his style. He wasn't doing the junior style as much and did more chopping and brawling. Guys like the Hardys need to start adjusting their style a bit for longevity, even if this is their last hurrah. And Tony has to got to get it into his thick skull that these matches aren't good and that he's just putting these guys at risk for no good reason.
I completely agree on that ending and thought the same damn thing. You're telling me they couldn't bother to think it through AND AT LEAST have Matt eliminated instead so Jeff could do that spot so it'd MAKE SENSE. when I saw the highlight video aew put up and saw Jeff win it for his team only thing I could say is what the fuck is this.
The commentators fucked this up so badly and I don't know why. It was a tag team table match. The same as the famous one the Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz had in the 2000 Royal Rumble. The ring announcer even spelled it out for them, both guys have to go through a table from an offensive manoeuvre. Simple. Nothing about people being eliminated and going to the back.
Jeff used to jump to the top rope for his swanton, now he has to take 4 steps to get up there, and Matt's always been bowe-legged. Now he can barely walk and it is kinda depressing to see this, because they've always been known for the high risk bumps off of ladders through tables... I love the hardys they could still do the swanton off the ladder and all, but they don't got to take all the risks they're taking anymore.
Now I know they hated how they were booked in wwe but cmon now this is just a sad use of the hardys…… we could’ve got the Hardys vs rkbro and or imperium by now smh
Tony just books them bcuz of nostalgia. He don't care for their health. Omega was wrestling with injuries in AEW but Tony still had him out there wrestling. When Jeff signed with AEW, I knew it would be a disaster and I was right. Who even gets excited for Hardy matches these days besides AEW fans....
Neither of them walks without a limp. They need to do an injury angle, pull them off TV. Get them as healthy as possible, cause this run is BROKEN…no pun intended.
So I went to the show which was not worth getting covid for. So one thing that everyone who didn't see it live doesn't understand is as someone who was in the building they never once mentioned any of those stipulations all we knew was it was going to be a Tables Ladders and Chairs match so every time someone went through tableware like why didn't they win do they must have to do a pin then at the end when Jeff jumps off the ladder he wins and we're like what the fuck just happened what the hell is going on. Also during the commercial break Jeff Matt and sting posed with each other hugged and you can see they were chatting a bit also at one point we couldn't find Jeff so I thought he had ran into the crowd again
Even watching at home u had no clue what was going on the announcers couldn't even explain it ..Tony tried but got lost JR jumped in and confused it more and excalibur agreed with both of them and we are like so how do they win? ..its a shame because for every great moment they produce there's 3 that make the promotion look like the UWF

@@riffhousestudios96 Right! Like, it’s Jeff Hardy. We all know he’s nearly done. But IF you are going to get one or two last Swantons out of him, build to them and save them for the big PPV.
@@segagenesis7708 exactly, it’s like they signed him and blew their load the minute he walked through the door
The Hardy Boys are done. And if they’re not done, then they need to pursue something else other than jumping off of ladders onto tables every episode.
I can't even watch them anymore. Matt can barely walk, Jeff is just...Jeff...it's I just can't.
They will b known as "the Lana's" of aew if they take to many more table bumps lol not the Hardy's
Should do a tally of all rules broken or not adhered to on an AEW show that week
A liver faliure drinking game........................🙃
Wait there's rules?? 🤣
@@Sky_Blaze I was watching Dark:Elevation one week and The Giant even said that of all the referees they have, Aubrey is one of the only competent ones.
@@segagenesis7708 she's not tho! I've seen matches where shit doesn't give a fuck..it's a whole AEW problem and they wonder why nobody cares or nothing matters.
@@Sky_Blaze I've been watching for near 40 years and besides the obvious rules I don't even notice. I usually can sit back and just take in with most things. Sure, I would like to have seen Tony Soprano get popped. Did it bother me? meh ...this match did suck though lol
The way Jim describes the Hardys in a ladder match is how I feel when Lita comes back and goes for a moonsault. She does them so rarely now, I'm always scared she'll spike herself.
"We haven`t got the Hardy Boys we got the Hardy middle aged men" in tears omg
don't forget that the ref held the ladder so Jeff could do the spot 😂
Same thing happened when sammy performed a cutter on cody from the top of the ladder. The ref was clearly visible on the camera holding the ladder for the spot.🤣🤣
At certain points in match I actually thought Jeff was under the influence again the way he looked. I hope not
he might be again he if continues doing these risky spots.
he look drugged up?
Nobody wants to remember Matt and Jeff like this.
Their matches now look like they're playing out in 0.5 speed. They are unfortunately fighting against the legacy they have built up for themselves over the years. Because they are not the Hardys of 15-20 years ago, they have to rely on Jeff giving away the stupidly dangerous spots on free TV. It's sad that I just feel sorry for them at this point.
Do u mean 0.5 % as in half speed or as in 1/200th of the speed of there former selves LOL
It feels very much like Jeff should have taken WWE's advice to get inducted into the HOF with Taker this year (which would have been a great accolade) and not have wandered off to AEW to try to recreate magic that his body isn't capable of handling anymore. He was more protected in WWE from his weaknesses and Matt...well Matt's just delusional. I know he's over with fans who like his deleted/broken etc stuff but he's just not fun to watch in the ring anymore and his work is corny. He's convinced he should be a main eventer, but some people just don't have 'it'. You can have a perfectly respectable career and an enviable career as a member of a great tag team. There's nothing wrong with that.

Jeff can't be performing swantons on a weekly basis anymore. Do twist of fates and maybe save the swantons for PPV or retire it all together. You can see the winces and clear pain on his face, its tough to watch.

Matt should do the same with the Leg Drop. He should just use the Ice Pick as his finisher

The fact that the Hardy's don't have the common sense to just tell Tony, no, we will not wrestle lower teams in stupid gimmicky matches, also says a lot about them as well as Tony.
They must be going through the motions....bet neither of them are doing well mentally
@BigGreen if they are the ones suggesting these matches. Then they both have huge problems
When everyone is acting like the Hardys, there is no room for the Hardys. Every match is 80 % suicidas/top rope and or blood...
Yeah i agree, modern wrestling is essentially a hardy boys TLC match regularly.
I said the same thing after the match. How can Jeff Hardy eliminate someone in this match when he was no longer involved. I get having him and the big guy help, but Matt needed to put the other guy through the table.
Yeah, that didn't make any sense and if that was to be the finish, the eliminations should have been reversed so it would make sense.
Jeff and Matt don't need to be in matches every week. They should be special attractions.
Stone Cold at Wrestlemania is how you book a Legend. Sting and The Hardy Boyz going thru tables on weekly tv is so embarrassing and just sad to watch.
jeff should have started dancing after "saving" matt from the double superplex
Jeff doing that swanton from the top of the ladder I thought he was going to nosedive and be crippled 🤦♂️
"It's no disqualification. Laaazy booking!"
dear Stacey Cornette, thank you for getting that sound gimmick for Jim, so good!
This is a match I'm going to pretend never happened.
Fans sometimes don’t know what they want
Further proof that Tony Khan is the *BOOKER OF THE YEAR*
Love the sarcasm
I can't wait for the Hardy's in a TLC with Andrade within the month at this rate with zero build.
“I take no pleasure in saying this” yes you do lol, it’s AEW
😂😂😂😂😂
This match was brutal to watch
This match was just embarrassing for all involved.
Kinda crazy to think that WWE probably would've handled the Hardyz reunion better than AEW...
They did , they returned at WM and won the titles.
it looks like jeff breaks his back every time he does a swanton
I just love how Jeff Hardy is landing on people
As Jim Ross would say "you don't go to wrestling school to learn that". lol
I saw 2 minutes of this and threw my remote and walked off
I think the irony is that in a vacuum the booking is quite logical.
You hit the nail on the head.
Jim legit thinking the blades name is the baker 🤣
My knees cringe every time I see Matt walk.
Was it the Dudleys or Edge and Christian that put together those old matches that everyone loved.
Right.
"I liked them in the past" - Jim Cornette
This entire match was COMPLETE AND UTTER DOG EXCREMENT. So many botches, the rules of this match made absolutely no sense, & being booked as total shells of the Hardys. It was miserable!!!!!
The thumbnail artwork shows Jim auditioning for the Pheromones.
I was there - wasn't even good in person. The crowd was scratching their asses trying to figure out the f'n rules
.......for a tables match?
For a tables elimination match that you can still be in the match after the elimination??? Why
Three of the four men in this match are at least 44 years old with the fourth being 42.
I shocked that Jeff Hardy is going along with this 😳
These guys should see themselves on punk level why play with these job guys
He’s likely getting a vast amount of money thrown at him.
They aren't job guys though
Jeff had momentum before leaving wwe, went from a potential feud with roman reigns to having a overly done match with ladders against a bunch of jobbers LOL, what a fucking joke have the hardyz become,
Jeff Hardy had a potential feud w Roman Reigns as much as I do
At this point, somebody should start counting how many weeks AEW goes _without_ someone being put through a table.
Poor Jeff Hardy. You can see him grab his back every time he does the Swanton bomb off a ladder. It's gotta hurt like hell after all these years.
yeah he cant take much more punishment to his body for too long.
Moving like they were underwater 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Jeff connects so well with the audience, you really don’t have to do much to him to get heat. I really hope he doesn’t think he NEEDS to do the high risk stuff regularly
"and then they all looked at each other" that made me laugh because we all know what he's talking about. That happens all the time where after an angle, everyone stares at each other while the camera cuts to commercial
TK: "Come on, do it again!"
Hardys: "But Tony, please..."
TK: "YOU'RE BOTS TOO, AREN'T YOU?!"
The Baker never gets old 🤣
How much of this is the Hardy’s own choice?
Vince didn’t use them right, neither does tony prove me wrong
Jeff Hardy is severely hurting his legacy
video starts at 0:00
Lol
Thank you, was waiting for this
Guys he's lying it starts at 6969:420
Jeff used to jump to the top rope for his swanton, now he has to take 4 steps to get up there, and Matt's always been bowe-legged. Now he can barely walk and it is kinda depressing to see this, because they've always been known for the high risk bumps off of ladders through tables... I love the hardys they could still do the swanton off the ladder and all, but they don't got to take all the risks they're taking anymore.
Matt Hardy moves like one of his old wrestling figures with a flat diagonal hip/leg joint
Watched the start of this show. Then walked away and came back for the end. Skipped the middle. I find that works well pretty much every week.
you can visibly see they both look soo much in pain and agony, from matts leg drop to jeffs swanton, they both looked soo shit
Matt moves like Vince at Mania.
How nobody has gotten severely hurt (that we know of) in this endless parade of gimmick matches on free television is a testament to Tony Khan's luck.
I'm just missing the candlestick maker.
Now I know they hated how they were booked in wwe but cmon now this is just a sad use of the hardys…… we could’ve got the Hardys vs rkbro and or imperium by now smh
The Hardy's are more valuable to the WWE than they are to AEW.
Why do the Hardys keep doing stipulation matches. They just keep doing them for no reasons
The most shocking thing to me is wrestling fans actually believing the Hardy’s would still be great LOL
Hooooooollllly fuck my man.
