    Several things to check. Make sure your cable is straight, no kinks, no hard bends. Also make sure your voltage is not too high. When I am running a little warm for the wire feed it will do that. Also check your stick out and make sure it is correct. Was teaching the boss about that today. She was helping and had the same problem 3 times in about 5 minutes. Straighten out the cable and fix the stick out and the problem went away.

    When I got my first MIG I bought a bottle of BOC anti-spatter liquid, which is water based rather than the oil based ones that smell like bacon when you're welding. I got the 2 litre bottle (much cheaper by quantity) and put it in a small gardening type spray bottle. The problem I've had is that it's a nightmare to clean off before painting, so I use it very rarely. Might give it a go on the nozzle though - that's a great tip. Thanks Kevin!

    Never had one burst but I did have one get crushed by a falling sculpture. Made one heck of a mess on the bench!

    Hey, can you do an episodeabout different types of mig wire. There seems to be variations of mild steel wire, and i never know while on to get. Thanks

      I can try. Not really sure what you are referring to in different types of wire.

      @@KevincaronSculpture there are different grades for some reason. So if I select 0.8 mild steel wire, there are different kinds, I assume this means different types of steel used to make the wire and probably coating.

    Good idea. I didn't know you could dip the torch in that sfuff. I use the aerosol spray, but just on the work piece. I have a question, Kevin. Whenever I MIG weld, the wire regularly welds itself to the small copper wire 'nozzle' inside the shield. The copper nozzle is the correct size for the wire used, everything is new and fits fine, gas flow is good. What am I doing wrong? I have to stop welding quite a lot to free off the weld wire where it has become welded to the copper nozzle. Thanks :-)

    Is it splatter or spatter? I’ve seen comments on videos saying it’s spatter, though I’m sure there are more important things to get precious about.

      Technically it's spatter. But you are correct also. It doesn't make a difference what you call it. Just clean it up before the painter gets his hands on it.

    Well if you are looking for a red or blue one I would go to cyberweld or welders-direct. If you are looking for an import than try Longevity welding or Amazon.

    Jody from welding tips and tricks uses non-stick cooking spray. I haven't tried it yet.

    Do you use anti splater on the metal to keep the beads from sticking?

  • @KevincaronSculpture
    @KevincaronSculpture  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can but it is to keep the beads from sticking to the gun...

    How can I stop slags from resistance welding

    • @KevincaronSculpture
      @KevincaronSculpture  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never played with this type of welding but I would try a light coat of spatter gel on the non-welded areas. This might stop it from forming. Also make sure the metal is clean. But from what I have read about this welding it's going to happen no matter what.

    Use the Pam Cooking spray. It works just as good and cost one third of the price.

    From what I see, the nozzle gel looks to be wax. You don’t want to use oil and reintroduce it to the plate or weld

    Well splatter or spatter sounds better than "Keep the dingle balls from sticking grease!"
    I will put the word on the camera operator and see if she can be coxed in front of for once..
