Why Prince Andrew's titles meant so much to him - BBC News

  • Prince Andrew's military titles and royal patronages have been returned to the Queen, and he will stop using the style His Royal Highness in an official capacity, it has been announced.
All the Duke of York’s roles will be redistributed to other members of the Royal Family.
It also means he lost his military titles including Colonel of the Grenadier Guards - one of the most senior infantry regiments in the British army.
The Palace announcement comes as he faces a US civil action over sexual assault allegations - claims he has consistently denied.
The BBC's Dan Johnson explains why the duke's titles would have been important to him.

My dad (and his whole family) fought in WWII. I am NAUSEATED when I see the royals (Charles, Anne, Edward, William etc) wearing a chestful of medals at every function. I don't seem to recall any of them serving on the front lines, yet they are covered in military honours, medallions and awards like it's cosplay. It's sick-making.

I also think of all the vets from Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq etc. who are living with missing limbs, PTSD etc and can barely get medical coverage or basic housing. Where are their honours and parades? I always shout at the TV screen when I see Charles and his three-tiered, absurd chestful of medals, sashes and medallions. Ridiculous and insulting.

Yeah, me too. If a woman I’d never met was saying publicly that I raped her, I’d be outraged and would rigorously sue her for defamation. There’d be no mild-mannered response of, “I have no recollection of ever meeting this lady, none whatsoever. I have no idea why she is saying this about me, but I just have to be thick-skinned and get on with it.” Andy baby, your advisors should have schooled you in how a genuinely innocent man would react.

One of the difficulties of the case is that the word of a beautiful blonde sweet, girlish person who is a victim (and she appears to be Epstein's victim, whether she was Andrews victim or not) her word will always weigh more heavily, even to the extent of blinding people to the facts of the case.
You have here a situation where online Andrew is repeatedly being referred to as a paedophile, regardless of the fact that the girl was of marriageable age in most countries, and had plainly been sexually viable for several years.
So although sex with her may or may not have been legal, depending on the location and circumstances of trafficking, we know by the dates that she was 17 or a maximum of three weeks short of 17 at the point that she met Maxwell.
This made her illegal in some states of the US, but in others she could get married at twelve.
And she had parental permission to go off with Epstein and Maxwell to be trained as a masseur. It is her parents who need to be investigated.
The point that I want to make is that popular opinion is on the side of the beautiful innocent blonde to an extent that it would be almost impossible for Andrew to get a fair trial. He stands condemned, regardless of what he does.
He will never live down Giuffre's accusation, any more than Charles has been able to live down the LIE told by that sweetly beautiful woman, who drooped her head and told us so sorrowfully, with her eyes like big-eyed moppets, that "there were always three of us in the marriage,".......people have gone right on accepting Diana's word for that regardless of the fact that all the evidence indicates that Charles remained faithful to her for six years, and that it was Diana's affairs, firstly with a Member of the House of Lords and secondly with her Security Officer that brought an end to the marriage.
Diana then went from man to man like the proverbial silver dollar, busting up marriages, terrorising men's wives over the phone, and cheating on any man who cared enough to stay around.
And knowing this, people still blame Charles and Camilla.
So why do you imagine that the Duke stating that his contact with Epstein was in order to make trade contacts, would impress anyone? He has already said this and it is true. Girls like Roberts were there for the entertainer of clients, along with the scuba diving, the saunas, the gym and the martinis. If a client wanted a chickie, then one was available

    • @MandyJMaddison
      @MandyJMaddison 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@@davidshapcott8 , one of the problems is that being a Prince, an officer and a gentleman, it is part of his code that he NEVER blames the Lady. Anybody else would say that she is a lying little tramp, but Andrew will not say that because he would look like a cad.
He will not say it, anymore than He would criticise his ex wife, or that Charles or William will open up about Diana, or Mark Philips would talk about Anne, or Lord Snowdon would talk about his turbulent marriage to Margaret.
They do not do that. It has put Charles in a difficult position for thirty years. He just keeps hoping that the truth will come out, and instead we get monstrous libels like The Crown.

He would but there is no charge against him because in every normal country everyone would just laugh. There is only one lawsuit against him in the US and there is no reason why should be a British citizen, who allegedly did something in London be sued in the US.
If she wants to sue him she can do it in a British court and then she can appeal to the European court for human rights. But in Europe courts usually make decisions based on laws and not on who is better crying in front of a jury, so she does not have a chance.

Because we have a parasite family inflicted on us and we have to pay for them whether we agree with their presence or not? His actions help us out, they don't hinder us.
I mean do you really think that in the middle of a pandemic people outside of the media actually give a fuck for this wretched little family? You should get your facts from somewhere other than the BBC world news service
Save your pity for someone who enjoys that sort of thing.

@@auberginemanproductions1608 You believe she's, probably the last good monarch? I honestly don't know enough about the popularity and public support for the future king, Charles and his wife Camilla, but how about William and Kate? William, Kate, and their heirs will definitely be the future of the monarchy, and they both seem to be popular, humble, and well liked throughout the world.
Which ever historical monarch who decided to have the Royal Family focus on charitable work, public service, official/impartial state functions, international human rights, health and welfare, and doing nothing to give the appearance of corruption, interfering with parliamentary supremacy; or expanding the aristocracy and peerage, may have saved the institutional.
It's impressive that the Royal Family remains very popular in the United States, and that so many Americans follow the Royal Weddings and travel to Britain to see palaces, castles, and other symbols of British royal history, and anything related to Winston Churchill.
