- On this day in 1982, Prince Andrew spoke of his experiences as a Sea King pilot in the South Atlantic during the Falklands War.
During the interview, His Royal Highness revealed he had spoken to his mother the Queen via telephone from one of the ships at the Navy HQ in the Falkland Islands. He observed that the line with Buckingham Palace was “clearer than it is from London to Edinburgh.”
Her Majesty granted the Duke of York permission to “step back from public duties for the foreseeable future” in 2019.

As we all know, decisions, both big and small move your life in one direction or another. Looking at Andrew here, I can imagine a man who - as he aged - embodied greater levels of integrity and humility as time goes on. Unfortunately for society at large, and the young women he came in contact with, a different was taken. In the clip, I see lost potential. We need far more from people in positions of privilege.

As for the military side, Duke ofEdinburgh was going to be the head of the Navy, 2 heroic acts in the Second World War captaining the ship. Watch the film Greyhound, he was in that sort of thing as well!
Not to mention his brilliant intelligence, which helped Britain politically transfer from the old to the more modern, talking about the environment in the 60s well before anybody else!
Prince Harry did two tours in action, and the training with a special boat service operative, and placement with the Australian SAS after he saw action in Afghanistan.
William flew over 250 rescue missions, saving 139 lives.
Prince Andrew served 20 years in the military, took part in the hardest and longest officer infantry training in the world , in the Royal Marines; then became an elite pilot, reserved for those who fly special forces in the Falklands; flying four hours a day behind HMS invincible as a decoy for the Exocet missile attacks, being shot at, in horrendous conditions in that part of the world at sea…
Princess Anne’s Olympic history; contribution to society and sport speaks for itself!!! Even Charles served time in the military becoming a qualified pilot in the air force… hardest flying training on the planet… I could go on

Andrew - as shown here; Harry in Afghanistan; KG6 at Jutland; and William. Flying an SAR helicopter around is not exactly safe. Prince Philip is a WW2 veteran and yes, saw action.

King George 6th was serving on a warship(battleship,destroyer,cruiser?) during the battle of Jutland. That would be the largest Navel battle in history by far at the time. LOTS of sailers died on both sides in that battle. The short answer is yes, absolutely, in very real mortal danger just like the rest of those brave men
