What I genuinely appreciate about this channel is that you feature cars from all years, unlike other channels like Winding Road, which almost always showcase the newest cars on their POV drives. While it's cool to see the latest models, I really enjoy watching these lol!

The Acura RL was really an underrated car tbh ~~ I mean the 3.5L J35 V6, we all know it sounds beautiful and Acura’s SH-AWD works so well too. Sad that this didn’t sell as well as Acura hoped.

Amazing video! But I have a recommendation for the next video to be a Lincoln Town Car and maybe later on it can be on the Mercury Grand Marquis, and Ford Crown Victoria. And possibly in the future review each of the panther platform of each generation. Which all of theses cars I mention are panther platforms. I would love to see theses cars be reviewed by you since their aren't many videos on theses cars nowadays, and it's a vehicle you haven't reviewed on the channel!

This was a cool car, don't get me wrong. But i remember when the first generation RL came out and especially with the upgrades by the Late 90s it said "Boss Status". When this body style came out alot of people said " what happened ". And it was almost the same size as it's younger sibling the TL. But i would definitely drive this as a daily Cruiser.

KB1/KB2 (05-12) RL by far is the car that Honda show the world they could build a luxury sedan. I had a 06 as daily for 6 years before sold it. Over all it a nice car inside and out, comfy to drive, A/C is coldest of all Acura/Honda car even produced.
Build quality also the best Acura ever leaving the factory (as it made in Japan), zero interior rattles, creaks that put my TL to shame. I half joking call this is Honda wanna be BMW.
    Fun facts.
Bose audio offer full DTS 5.1 surround sound (when play with DVD-Audio 5.1 DTS format) the sound quality actually better than ELS of the same era.
Hood, fenders, trunk are made of Aluminum for weight saving. Drive shaft is made of aluminum with carbon fiber reinforce (if you look under the car, the entire drive shaft color is black).
1st Acura/Honda beside the NSX to have full forge aluminum suspension component.
SH-AWD up to date is the most unique only found on the RL as they have a set of planetary that allow the rear axles to rotate faster more than 5% than the front (this allow the car to have a momentary RWD).
On light throttle it FWD, moderate throttle it AWD and off the gas for coasting it RWD.
JDM/EDM model came with hood pop up feature similar to the Lexus LC500, night vision, ventilated front seat and lane keep assist.
The model you drove is the highest trim that offered as they have Adaptive Cruise Control (auto cruise) and run flat tires (special wheel design).
The car didn't sale so well because the class that they compete in. (MB E350, BMW 5 series, Audi A6, Lexus LS430/460) unlike the competition the RL does not offer V8 options. Badge prestige and brand name is unknown to most luxury shopper.
Another problem is within Acura themselves, the TL Type S and later on TL SH-AWD on specs sheet they offer similar performance and option however they were about $15,000 cheaper on sticker price.
Acura buyer was like "why I would want to spend $15k more for the same car?" between this and the market transition to SUV slowly kill the RL sale.
On the used car market the RL value depreciate the fastest within Acura line up, it a bless and curse. It bless to buy used and it a curse when you trying to sell privately. OEM parts are hard to come by, when they have it in stock it is expensive.
E.G 3 motor mounts cost up to $850 part only.

I think this Generation RL only came in all wheel drive. I wish Acura had offered front wheel drive only as an option since the 0-60 times would likely be improved due to less weight and less drive train drag. (Mileage would be slightly better too).
