    Fun fact: Muaythai was invented around the mid of 16th century in Ayutthaya period of Siam. (some says it can be traced back to 13th century). It developed from the battlefield tactics to make the soldiers as effective and deadly as possible, even without weapons. Muaythai is known as the “art of eight limbs” for the eight parts of the body that are used for striking and knock out the opponent: (for example fists, elbows, knees, and feet. etc.) This is the reason why Muaythai is so deadly powerful and brutal! (Recommend to watch Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior starring by Tony Jaa)

      We don't punish a fall guy but let them stand up and fight again, that's Thai mentality.

    But you guys have experience, would you recommend muay thai to someone who wants to start a martial art at the age of 31? I do a lot of sport already.
    I think the rules like no kicks to the knee make it safer then mma for example, on the other hand it is often described as being very brutal.
    I don't expect an easy sport and I am willing to dedicate myself to it approprietly but I don't want my body to wear down more then it does benefit me, you know what i mean?

    Hi I would like to know if muay thai compared to other contact sports (mma, kickboxing) is somewhat safer for the brain being quite scared by the new CTE data. I am asking this question because I noticed that in Muay thai there is more emphasis on body strikes and fewer head strikes than in other sports and those are delivered by lighter weight fighters. Are these reasons real? And another reason would be that I see many former muay thai fighters reaching their 60's and having a career of over 300 fights and being mentally well. I ask because I have a 7 year old boy who wants a career in contact sports either kickboxing, mma or muay thai. Thank you!

    • @murdockfiles9406
      @murdockfiles9406 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Head damage is always a risk, but Muay Thai and MMA are actually quite safe in comparison to other sports. Boxing (and even sports like football) are extremely dangerous as head strikes are focal points, but with Muay Thai and other kickboxing, the strikes are far more versatile and limb based.

    No Muay Thai as known today is not and was not a relevant answer to armed combat. Knees and kicks while they can be used are not a valid response to formations of projectile weapons (like firearms) or spears as was common during the time Muay Thai was developed. Unarmed fighting is designed for unarmed fighting, the lie that it isn't is common among charlatans trying to sell their nonsense to the people of today.
    limbs do not mimic weapons nor bodies mimic armour, the exact opposite is true. Weapons are designed with us in mind both our strengths and weaknesses. This comes back to the nonsense above.

There is no doubt that Muay Thai fighters, the Thai ones are a little superstitions due to their culture. I don't like the fact that Such practical martial art like Muay Thai has many superstition related to it. After all, Muay Thai was developed for fighting only. Why not let it remain practical and stop practising such superstitious rituals.

    King Jayavaraman of the Khmer Empire taught the war art of Bokator to his army. Eventually when the Eastern Khmer lands were stolen by Thailand, the Thais called Bokator, Muay Boran, as, let's be real, Thailand has always stolen from the Khmer Empire and Cambodia. Muay Thai is the French-occupied sports variation of Muay Boran.
    Funny how these facts never get talked about.

They have been fighting for many years to proof that which one is the best and I like to watch it, but you know these two countries never complainted to each other who stole anyone's culture by showing their own history to claim it. So, how about cambodia why you always keep saying that Thailand has stole cambodia's martial art? I just wonder because when I watch the video about Mauythai and you guys always keep saying like that. In Asia martial arts I know Taekwondo, Karate, Muaythai, Lethwei, and Pencak silat. I recently heard in few years ago about Bokator. Last question for you, have you really thought they have learned bokator moves from the wall of Angkor Temple? Does it make sense?

    *Some facts about Kru Muay Association* The Kru Muay Association originated from the separation of the amateur Muay Thai from the professional Muay Thai. This division pursued the goal to have Muay Thai recognized as an Olympic discipline by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). A project that has not been successful until today. The officials of professional Muay Thai would like to have nothing to do with Kru Muay. For them this club is only a necessary evil. If you take a closer look, you will notice that all the so-called traditional teachers of the Kru Muay Thai Association have simply appointed each other as teachers and are now worshipped by wealthy foreigners once a year. The whole association is very political, but has less fighting competence than an average boxer in Rajadamnern Stadium or a Buakauw (who is a Cambodian and not a Thai by the way). Despite comprehensive state support, the Kru Muay Association still has no coherent teaching concept for traditional Muay Boran and Muay Thai is still not Olympic.
