Treat Williams is awesome. Love him in Deep rising and The Substitute. This movie deserves better and a sequel! That ending begs to be made into a sequel film.
I feel like Capcom Japan were fans of this flick... they made the location of Resident Evil: Dead Aim, on an abandoned cruiser, out in the middle of the ocean..and the climax of Resident Evil 4 has Leon and Ashley escaping the explosion on a Sea Doo, much like in Deep Rising...idk, could be a connection, that series draws a lot of influences from horror movies in the west
Saw this one too... at Grauman's Chinese in Hollywood and loved it. GREAT Jerry Goldsmith score and fun Lovecraftian monster... FUN being the key word for this opus. You guys have great taste.
My only large issue with the film, other than the funny scene at the end of this film...is the fact they used a Giant Octopus-like monster instead of a Sea Serpent.
Loved this we need more water based creature features in my opinion. This film wasn't great but it was fun. This Leviathan,Deepstar Six,Endless Descent,Underwater all Great flicks.
"If the money is there, we don't care!" :) Seriously, this is a true hidden gem of a movie. It's scary, it's gory, it's fun. Cripes, I think I'll watch it again tonight.
I honestly can't see anyone else but treat Williams as the lead. It's what made it different in my opinion, that character was his own. Didn't expect him to pull it off but he did. He was a badass really.
I think that if you enjoy Firefly/Serenity you gotta have some love for this film. Yeah I know no aliens or monsters or whatever, but this feels like it could have been an episode.
It's my second favourite what I would consider to be a B movie, after Big Trouble in Little China. Good idea, scary monster, OTT characters, it was a fun watch.
I love this movie so much... and I thought that Treat Williams was awesome... especially coming off of The Devil's Own, Things to do in Denver When You're Dead, Mullholland Falls, etc. I also liked Dead Heat.
Saw it in the theater thought it would have been better if the story setup were more believable - creature doesn’t seem like something from earth as casually claimed (and there is no “below 40,000 ft”) - no reason given for it suddenly appearing and the gore often feels uncomfortable and done for an unrelated shock value. They might have had the passengers all be reps from a bad corporation whose sea mining caused the release of something alien that kills them. Doesn’t help that the ending sets up a sequel as if certain this would be a hit.
It's really, stupid to use an octopus like Monster. I mean, I don't like octopuses, and just because they use an octopus monster doesn't mean I'm gonna love it. They should've used something like, you know...a Loch Ness Monster? A Sea Dragon? A Leviathan?...but hiring a Giant Monstrous Octopus that's just stupid.
This might have made it's money back about 10 years ago in the 3D craze but, it probably would've been released on the heels of Avatar and once again be dominated by the Canadian crusher James Cameron.
It’s a very solid, underrated flick. Definitely better than that Titanic garbage movie. That’s right I said it. I saw both movies in theaters and while Titanic was trash, Deep Rising was surprisingly a good solid movie. Yeah the CGI could use a little facelift but the movie is still entertaining. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone. However if you’re looking for a chick flick with not much suspense then watch garbage err Titanic.

First of all that phone call by Paul Rudd has nothing to do with Treat Williams' status. One of the many reasons why I hate Paul Rudd because his humor is just so out of place and redundant.
Treat Williams is awesome. Love him in Deep rising and The Substitute. This movie deserves better and a sequel! That ending begs to be made into a sequel film.
I saw deep rising at the movie theaters. I recommend watching it again.
I wore out my Deep Rising VHS. Sweet movie. Made a nice complimentary dish to the host of Peter Benchley TV adaptations airing around then.

I really wish we could have gotten a sequel :(

Saw them all and I agree we still have not explored all the depths of the ocean
My guilty pleasure Treat Williams movie is Dead Heat. A really fun movie co starring Joe Piscipo and Vincent Price.
I have a VHS copy of Deep Rising👍

I was 6 when it came out and I was so stoked for a sequel, later I forgot about it and now I finally got the name of that masterpiece!!

This is a great movie I've seen it like 30 times owned it since it came out when I was kid

Love this movie. These are my favorite kinds of movies. I am still waiting to see a movie I haven't seen on your movies you haven't seen videos.
Oh man, I loved this movie. It’s a ridiculous action movie w a sea monster. What’s not to love?
I wish they had a sequel to this movie.

Great Flick!
TITANIC was so popular, it took myself 3 weeks just to get a ticket. It kept Selling Out.
Kurt Russell is above the list from Harrison Ford.
Love this movie. Love the cast
Love this movie!!! I've seen it a dozen times
I love this movie so much... and I thought that Treat Williams was awesome... especially coming off of The Devil's Own, Things to do in Denver When You're Dead, Mullholland Falls, etc. I also liked Dead Heat.
I fucking loved this film as a kid

Don't forget about Dr. Frederick Chilton
"Now what?..."
Want a sequel based on the survivors on the island....
I went and saw this at the movies instead of Titanic. Still never seen that movie all the way through.

This movie is so fun
I got this confused with deepstar six. anyone seen that one? it was pretty good
Yep, I saw Deepstar 6, one of my favorites
Just watched it few years ago for the first time

Treat Williams best role ever is still "Dead Heat". Fight me.

Childhood movie
I love this movie
I like deep rising the best sea monster movies. 🚢🐙🦑💀
RIP Treat Williams
Kurt Russel would have been perfect for the leading role in the movie
I will give Treat Williams (sp?) this, He doesn't seem like he diddles kids. Can't say that about a lot of 80's stars.
This was the first dvd i ever brought lol
"Now what!"
Do 1989 night life /grave misdemeanours
