before i post this list, you make some valid points when it comes to the Octarians, but aside from that, i can't say the same for the rest of your reasons. 10. you say they're materialistic, you're right, but look at the inklings age, all the inklings aside from callie, marie and cap cuttlefish are all teenagers, 14 to be exact, at least the ones we see in the game. what teen now isn't kind of materialistic? 9. keeping the zapfish as a slave, he doesn't look like that, he more or less looks like a sloth just hanging out on the tower, nothing is actually keeping him there unless they feed him which i'd imagine callie and marie do that considering he is right next to their studio. 8. they battle for fun, grabbing their guns for turf war. it's honestly no different from the people who play paint ball, except the objectives are different with paint ball being the more violent of the two because of it's main objective. 7.slaves to clean their mess. callie and marie explain the ink evaporates after battles. 6. those... those are jellyfish, not inklings, and even if they are kids, the inklings are technically kids too, the culture is built around turf war. they took what was once a real battle for territory and turned it into a game to hide the past so yes and no on a few points of interest. 5. if they were being brainwashed for war, they'd be using bullets, not super soakers, 4. again super soakers, the characters aren't actually being killed and if they are, they've some how unlocked the secret to bringing the dead back to life with the respawn point. on top of that the weapons can only be used in a turf war, rank battle, or octo valley. 3. spike eats the super sea snails, but you're right that street urchin is kind of shifty, however, i don't think he'd get off his butt to really do anything to anyone. 2. you're not wrong, the octarians are kind of oppressed, however it's alluded to that most of the inklings are not aware that octarians still exist, they could be taught in school about them, however it'd probably be their history class, not civics. also speaking of school, some people may point this out, for the inklings, it could be their summer, that's why they're not in school, i mean we don't see them bundled up in winter clothes during our actual winters, so perhaps their just enjoying summer break? 1. funny thing, you're not wrong on the octarians, the do live in poverty but going back to point 2 most inklings have no clue the octarians even exist. we the players know of the octarians plight, but we have to imagine it from their worlds perspective, they don't know another race just like themselves exists, that they're in poverty and when they do show up in parts of inkopolis, big surprise they want to attack the only inkling aware of them. however this bit is completely thrown out the window when during the games end credits, there's images of the inklings meeting the Octolings. an inkling boy is trying on an octolings goggles. you're right though, it doesn't change the years of living underground, literally, but the octarians were only following the orders passed on by their leader, DJ Octavio, which looks an awful lot like someone seen in one of the sunken scrolls sitting next what looks like a young cap cuttlefish. which could explain why there's a divide between the two races, not just the battle for territory.

before i post this list, you make some valid points when it comes to the Octarians, but aside from that, i can't say the same for the rest of your reasons.
10. you say they're materialistic, you're right, but look at the inklings age, all the inklings aside from callie, marie and cap cuttlefish are all teenagers, 14 to be exact, at least the ones we see in the game. what teen now isn't kind of materialistic?
9. keeping the zapfish as a slave, he doesn't look like that, he more or less looks like a sloth just hanging out on the tower, nothing is actually keeping him there unless they feed him which i'd imagine callie and marie do that considering he is right next to their studio.
8. they battle for fun, grabbing their guns for turf war. it's honestly no different from the people who play paint ball, except the objectives are different with paint ball being the more violent of the two because of it's main objective.

1. funny thing, you're not wrong on the octarians, the do live in poverty but going back to point 2 most inklings have no clue the octarians even exist. we the players know of the octarians plight, but we have to imagine it from their worlds perspective, they don't know another race just like themselves exists, that they're in poverty and when they do show up in parts of inkopolis, big surprise they want to attack the only inkling aware of them. however this bit is completely thrown out the window when during the games end credits, there's images of the inklings meeting the Octolings. an inkling boy is trying on an octolings goggles. you're right though, it doesn't change the years of living underground, literally, but the octarians were only following the orders passed on by their leader, DJ Octavio, which looks an awful lot like someone seen in one of the sunken scrolls sitting next what looks like a young cap cuttlefish. which could explain why there's a divide between the two races, not just the battle for territory.
