Thanks for the perspective, do these cars really make us happy. Years and thousands of cars ago, yes, the fun and excitement was there, last ten years and more thousands of cars later, fun is there, the rush and expectancies of disappointment is far greater. Starting, at my age of 52, to rethink things. I do love the little cars, but, you can fill in the blanks.
Was just talking about this with a fellow collector yesterday!!! The constant want and "need" always fulfilled by the machines of Mattel and now countless other companies, you would have to rob banks to get everything you want these days! I do it mostly for the thrill of the hunt. Finding a cool Mainline at a store that's always filled with warmers and empty pegs is just like finding a TH, if not better bc quite frankly most TH models aren't my cup of tea. I've vowed to never buy die cast online bc there's no hunt involved. The chase makes me happy and that's why I still and will always collect!
Yea Mattel Marketing makes us buy everything and sometimes we don’t really even want it 😅 but that’s where buy/sell/trade comes in to build our collections the way we want it 👍👍
Honestly it does feel that way, there comes a point where there’s so many that you have to put them away some where and you never see them until you pull them back out one day to reorganize or revisit. This is why I stopped collecting mainlines as well as the low resale value that they hold. Not that I would sell them but to me I feel more value in putting that money that I would spend on mainlines and premiums into rlc’s and super treasure hunts when the value goes down one year after their release. Plus those are the ones I hang on my wall and get to glance at them.
I picked up a lot of 3 treasure hunts, Dodge ram 1500 worth about 20 dollars, mini worth about 10, and the super treasure hunt skyline from 2007 on eBay for only 50 bucks shipped! I think the seller thought that the skyline was the regular version 😂

Collecting to satisfy oneself is great, independent of comparison to what someone else has. Trying to "win at toys" is a trash take. I need neither adoration nor envy from anyone what I have in my garage.
Awesome haul congrats.👍To me collecting hot wheels is all about going out hunting and looking for older and newer hot wheels to add to my hot wheels collection and hot wheels are awesome, cool, pretty, and beautiful and I enjoy them.👍To me it is not about selling, trading, or how much value or how much They're gonna be worth in the future. So to me collecting hot wheels is all about the different castings and series and sets that do every year.👍 I love collecting hot wheels and I will be collecting hot wheels for the rest of my life.👍
Ouch honeymoon over! Love playing the game as well as getting the latest releases from all makers But in all you do with your cars I didn't hear that you play with them. That's the point. If no more new cars are made and everything is sold I will still have fun with what I have.

I remember when I was younger collecting baseball cards. I never really cared about the chase cards all that much. Just having the whole mainline was enough for me. Collecting is a bit of fool's gold. You are never happy and Mattel wants it that way, especially for the boomers. I think growing up in the era of cell phones prevented me from enjoying Hot Wheels like those folks 35 and over so I never felt addicted buying them. I've pretty much always purchased mainlines and only have 1 premium model because it came bundled in an auction. I'm happy not getting chases, I mean afterall I live in a 1st world country.
It’s a sickness. I am running out of space! If the Overdrive subscribers kill my chance of getting any hyped launch, I’m not renewing. In my area, you have to be at Walmart when the doors open and even then, it’s a race to the toy section cos other collectors are also there.

True, I'm in California and at my local Walmart, 1 mile away! The town scalper, sneaks into the store before opening. Doesn't buy anything, he hides it in the store, to pick up later.... If any of his clients want them.....😡
@@BillyBob-op6lg By law, they can't lock all of the doors, there's an employee entrance, near the garden area, he goes through the front entrance, not the automatic doors. I've told a manager, he knew who I was referring to, told me that he may be a vendor. He's not....
Personally, not having a complete collection and always searching for something is the main thing I love. The chase is like no other, especially finding the piece after months of looking for a reasonable price. There are plenty of cars out there. You just need to network and search high and low. Hope yall have full pegs 🫡
