It didn’t surprise me positively tho. 6 years since announcement and what felt like ages since the last update, all we get to see is still them walking around like a game tech demo. We have yet to see actual gameplay, I repeat, 6 years since announcement and it still looks like we went backwards.
Why do y'all act like this? Do you think you could make a game like this in this time?
@@ZedDevStuff Im aware of all that, by the way. Still, them saying that over a hundred content creators have already played the game behind the scenes, I would assume that after 6 years, they probably must have a little more to show, at least more than decrease in quality of footage we have seen 6 years ago. While I have understanding of the situation, I can still now speak of being "positively surprised" at all. This is no progress in the overall state of the game as we've seen it, after all. Progress for their development situation, absolutely. But no kind of "new footage" to get excited about. Rather, it looks like there won't be no playable public release within the next two years still. Which Is simply a frustrating situation to be in, considering we have seen nothing of actual gameplay - as how it plays first hand, when their former goal was so have a beta in 2019. Saying this was a pure miscalculation triggered by wrong expectations of how the trailer will was received, would be an understatement.

Well based on the wording, this is definitely the FINAL development year. Which means Hytale is probably slated to launch summer 2026. I knew it was optimistic to hope for Summer 2025, but honestly, it's on the horizon.
I bet they're just on point where they wanted to be, based on their summer 2023 update, as they wanted it to be playable, if I remember it correctly, which doesn't mean alpha or beta release, but as a version that can be running the game, potentially with game-braking bugs. let's just hope the testing team doesn't really find a lot of major bugs, as that might delay the official release even more than currently expected. I'll expect major bugs in the testing, but that's mostly because I'm a developer, and I know there's a big chance of finding the bugs when it's the least expected time. developers even have a rule of thumb, where major updates shouldn't be released right before the weekend, even if it's tested internally for bugs, just because there's a chance of bugs being discovered by users just an hour after releasing the update. for a developer, that means they have to fix before they're done working for the weekend
@@doriantermini the difference now being their economical support by Riot Games, and now gearing up for 3rd party playtesting, which actually makes it reasonable to say it this time. at current state, I would bet the game to be ready for purchase in 2026-2028, leaning more towards 2027

Truly I hope that the lack of characteristic visual aspects of the legacy engine is because they focused on the gameplay and stuff that will support modding the game in the future. Because if it was that long in development there's certainly no reason why bloom, volumetrics and fire asset (as an example) are missing. The lighting in the new engine looks way worse in comparison (with the video that showed the rain atmosphere - basically the reason I got into engine development as I want to make something similar myself), and as a bit of a graphics programmer myself I see no reason why is that the case. Especially that those are some of the effect, that while not trivial to implement, definitely were already researched and porting them even across a different programming language should not put that much of a strain. Shaders are commonly written in separate languages like GLSL or HLSL, and they are not that hard to port as they operate on similar basis. That being said, I hope that this is a sign of them putting much more consideration into more aspects of the new engine, I can't wait for the final breakdown, but to be honest that's not a impressive jump in the sense technical graphics improvement, I hope they are holding stuff back from us.
Soooo after all these years i see nothin in this "trailer" which Minecraft using a Shader and some 64x Texture Pack cant delivery longer than Hytale "exists"
Seeing a comparison between the old and new engine, I can't reasonably say much but it *feels* nicer to look at, might even be a style difference since it's been a few years. But I hope it means something about their progress that it feels the way it seems.
engine tweaks do a lot of heavy lifting for example when triple games changed to poor ones it really showed so its far better to slightly notice a shift then watch a game blow up your pc for nothing
I dunno, a lot of it could just be texture changes, like using a texture pack for Minecraft. Even things like lighting/shadows don't require an engine change; we can see that with shaders Minecraft. A surprising vast assortment of games are available on Unity or UE that look completely different from each other despite using the same engine. The way graphics are rendered are the main thing engines do visually. The engines largely are the determining factor in what a game is capable of. Whether it is developed to take advantage of those capabilities is another story entirely. And if they actually did redo the engine for the sake of console/mobile (what they claimed back in 2021), then those capabilities could end up being very restricted for PC, because of how limiting mobile is in particular.
@ranjitsharma5811 there's prolly not even a height changing in hytale like every player character needs to be the same or the balancing in pvp will be tedious
Oddly seeing such little assets in this really makes this feel concrete and no longer conceptual and nebulous. I think I can finally feel excited now. I mean I've been a believer day 1 and following very closely but I still have moments of "what if this is an elaborate illusion" Now I'm excited for what hytale does, but really I'm excited for the culture surrounding it. Will it be like an mmo boom of years gone? I just can't see hytale going uncontested. Very. Excited for all of the art that comes from this.
I'm loving the updates as usual, but I've been noticing a bit of a "doom-posting" vibe from people waiting, I understand why they think this way, but I have to ask these people one thing. Would you want a game that is ready when the players want it, but it's unfinished and buggy? *OR* Do you want the game to be feature-complete & polished when it eventually comes out? Because you can't have it both ways.
10 years in development, 6 years since the project was announced. i've been following the development closely the whole time. all i have to say: see you in another 3 years
@@jem And I've got 3 things: changed engine mid-way, studio size increased massivly & we don't owe them anything (because we haven't given them money) look, if you don't like that it's taking this long and you're not interested in buying/playing the game when it comes out, that's fine, but don't complain like some mf from Twitter
Do you know if the game will be feature-complete and polished? And do you know if the game will be feature-complete and polished *compared to the cumulative expectations of 6+ years in development?* That's the issue. That's why people are doom-posting. It's a very risky move, because now the launch will be a monumental event that needs to be flawless.
I felt like that was too colorful but in a good way, actually you will be probably able to configurer saturation. And in general I think that was a really cool and Comforting blog post
One of the most important things that gave Minecraft its longevity aside from general mods was the advanced shader support. With this new engine, does this mean that Hytale will also be able to end up looking as good one day down the line? With modded shaders and graphics?
It's weird that this new clip looks more like an older version of the game and the old clip looks like a newer version lol, let's see how things turn out next year though.

I kinda wish they would keep the old engine and look as like a separate or optional shader. The OG hytale look is nothing short of its own nostalgia and there's just something special about the way it looks and feels

I'm thinking we will have some sort of public beta or alpha at the least in 2025, and I think an actual full release would be 2026, unless they are much more ahead than what I've gathered 👀
Nope not yet. This isn't the kind of updates you'd hear if they're that close to release. It just means steady progress. It still a good thing of course.

Man, there are too many people whining in these comments. This development team is one of few that has such a healthy approach to making their game. They don't jump the gun for easy money, but spend their time, even halting completely to properly create the game they want. With the more I see of their development strategy, the more I appreciate it. For the people in charge to see the ginormous interest in the game and yet not succumb to their greed, instead seeing that objectively their game wasn't ready to support that level of attention long-term, is greatly impressive. Maybe they'll lose a bit of momentum at the start, but with this approach I think the game will ultimately succeed in the long run.

I hope this game will have shaders because right now I think it looks pretty muddy and boring, to not say ulgy , just like minecraft. A bit more saturation and better lightning would make this game looks so much better and I think that with new technologies it could still perform nicely
This comment is unbelievably dumb. Yeah, no shit they could've made door animations in the last 8 years. They already did. If there aren't any ready right now, it's because they haven't remade/reimplemented them, after they spent the last 2 years completely remaking the entire code the game is built on.
Hytale will be the last one ~ summer 2028 Half-life 3 - spring 2028 Riot's MMO - hiding in the shadow realm The elder scrolls VI - mid 2026 Silksong - summer 2025 :)
i notice the "shield" in Hytale doesn't fully resist damage, but it makes you take less damage. this is honestly what Minecraft should do. the shield should make you take reduced damage. maybe 25% less damage at base. and then with enchants that could maybe increase to a max of like 75% damage reduction
Shields reducing damage won't work pvp-wise. Imagine this... I'm about to strike my opponent and my opponent is about to strike me. My options are: 1. I strike, my opponent strikes = we both deal equal damage to each other. Fair outcome, nobody is more hurt than the other. 2. I block, my opponent strikes = I deal zero damage to my opponent by my opponent deals some damage to me. I lose that attack encounter, because I got hurt and my opponent didn't. So choosing to block is always the worse decision over just choosing to strike. I could see a potential solution in that perhaps shields could stun an opponent who hit it, but I feel that leads to way more problems down the line.

Minecraft shaders and mods need to be available for Hytale and other similar games, such as Vintage Story. Nothing seems to compare to Minecraft shaders when it comes to graphics or mods for customized gameplay for these type of games and that's pretty much why Minecraft is still played, despite how bad it is when it comes to block building shapes, having only stairs as roofs for example or that you can't build with smaller sizes of all building items so that you don't need to build a massive house to look detailed because you can use smaller ones in less space, that way trees would also look more real life while still being blocky, but right now they feel...too blockly, at least for me.

@@PlasmaWarrior. Yeah... but not much here looks good, it's very low detail... flat, just... flat. Pun intended. Having said that, I am completely on board if combat is good and there is plenty to do in the game(unlike minecraft).
If you followed the blog or actually watched the video you'd know that they rewrote their engine from scratch then started reimplementing everything they already add in the new engine and this is what they're showing us rn (along with stuff that's possible using the new engine).
They worked so long just to say "nah we're scarping everything"
I just can't understand so much work and they just threw it out of the window and now a handful of people is actually waiting because everyone else forget it's being worked on
@@ZedDevStuff They rewrote because of console/mobile. That's a big negative. Mobile especially is very limiting in power/capabilities. They have spent over 5 years changing their minds and making no perceivable progress.

"It's on the horizon." That's what we said in 2019 and 2021 and 2023. lmao

mod that yourself since they have live scripting
Good to see they’re showing more now. Hopefully I’ll have a PC by the time it comes out.
It should come out on more devices thanks to the new engine. They mentioned mobile a while ago, no idea if the new engine does indeed supports it now
Hey, I've just stumbled upon your channel! Thanks for summarizing all the cool Hytale stuff, I've been wondering what was happening with the game
And if they actually did redo the engine for the sake of console/mobile (what they claimed back in 2021), then those capabilities could end up being very restricted for PC, because of how limiting mobile is in particular.
i think is only for mobile performance
Is it intentional like when in first person perspective the character looked like a dwarf compared to the furniture and stairs
Likely just picked a short character
@ranjitsharma5811 there's prolly not even a height changing in hytale like every player character needs to be the same or the balancing in pvp will be tedious
Those little logs and probably rocks will be like many games where you use them to creat basic tool and then take down a tree or break big rocks
Question: Can you befriend a certain NPC? Like if it sees you getting attacked it will help, or give you discounts for helping with stuff.
That would be amazing!
As long as kweebec corner doesn't looses hope, i will never either.
I was not expecting more stuff already!
if the camera in game is like that I would vomit mid game due to nausea
Oddly seeing such little assets in this really makes this feel concrete and no longer conceptual and nebulous. I think I can finally feel excited now.
I mean I've been a believer day 1 and following very closely but I still have moments of "what if this is an elaborate illusion"
Now I'm excited for what hytale does, but really I'm excited for the culture surrounding it.
10 years in development, 6 years since the project was announced. i've been following the development closely the whole time. all i have to say: see you in another 3 years
@@jem And I've got 3 things: changed engine mid-way, studio size increased massivly & we don't owe them anything (because we haven't given them money)
look, if you don't like that it's taking this long and you're not interested in buying/playing the game when it comes out, that's fine, but don't complain like some mf from Twitter

That's the issue. That's why people are doom-posting. It's a very risky move, because now the launch will be a monumental event that needs to be flawless.

If Hytale releases during my funeral, I'm coming back to life.
One of the most important things that gave Minecraft its longevity aside from general mods was the advanced shader support. With this new engine, does this mean that Hytale will also be able to end up looking as good one day down the line? With modded shaders and graphics?
I imagine, yes.
they need to get the MVP out, update with time and stop being perfectionists

I bet the miner skeletons is affected by a curse from the place they mine making them turn into undead creatures.

Will the combat system have directional attacks? (Like Mount n Blade, Chivalry, etc)
It does, although as far as we know it only affects knockback (Most noticeable in slow, bulky weapons like the mace)
It depends on the weapons I think. Every weapon has different attacks and I think something smaller l I'm e daggers has basic but fast patterns but a dash attack and larger weapons like hammers maces has full directional swing that heavily effects knock back. And charged extra strong attacks So some what?
So I’ve got it! It’s Minecraft meets Warcraft 3 map editor.

It seems like asset porting and creation will probably really speed up now
I have a good feeling in me bones (heh) for the beta to drop some time next year

I hope there will be a way to lower the saturation of the game, the grass & trees are way too "strong" to me
I hope this game will have shaders because right now I think it looks pretty muddy and boring, to not say ulgy , just like minecraft. A bit more saturation and better lightning would make this game looks so much better and I think that with new technologies it could still perform nicely

Minecraft was in Alpha for years... why not release it? I think no one would mind.
Forgot this game even existed
I love how im super patient with the wait of hytale release because of how i think every masterpiece takes time 😌
i notice the "shield" in Hytale doesn't fully resist damage, but it makes you take less damage.
this is honestly what Minecraft should do. the shield should make you take reduced damage. maybe 25% less damage at base. and then with enchants that could maybe increase to a max of like 75% damage reduction
That's an old clip. We have no idea if it actually will function like that.
Shields reducing damage won't work pvp-wise. Imagine this... I'm about to strike my opponent and my opponent is about to strike me. My options are:
I could see a potential solution in that perhaps shields could stun an opponent who hit it, but I feel that leads to way more problems down the line.
i sure hope this comes out before 2099
