You do not know anything about aircraft. A Turboprop engine ia also an Jet engine. There are 3 types of Jet engines 1) Turboprop 2) Turbofan and 3) turboshaft (for helicopters) . There is also Pure jet engines but they do not use them any more. I have not heard of any pure Jet engine being used in any aircraft in the past 30-40 years. So when he says Jet he he did not say anything wrong rather it is you who have no knowledge of aero engines.

Modern propelled engines are run by turbine engine same concept with jet engine but the design of turbine is different with each other. Pure jet turbine engines are more expensive.
