- PILOT : CAPTAIN. K K SINGH WITH RAJESH JANYAVULA, JAYASIMHA RACHOOR AND UDAY SIMHA RACHOOR WENT ON A HELICOPTER RIDE IN MUMBAI JUHU AIRPORT FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES WHICH WAS AN ABSOLUTE DELIGHTFUL EXPERIENCE.

They do not. A chopper like this one without a landing gear can depart directly from dispersal (apron)
However, this is controlled airspace. Controllers and Pilots like to keep things very organized. Hence they clear the chopper for 'hover taxi' to the Runway (in this case RW 26) and then for a westerly departure like all the other traffic.
If this was a smaller place, maybe an uncontrolled aerodrome, departure from dispersal is not an issue.

Helicopter doesn't need runway. Pilot used runway to give visible presence to air traffic control and avoid buildings and trees during airlift..also saved time and fuel that way .....perfect shortest path.

Mumbai has lot of opportunities, its growing at an exponential rate which has created mess. Problem is the population growth in small area. Travelling in mumbai is so bad during peak hours. My daily travel from home to office is 6 hrs+ 9 hrs in office thats 15 hrs. 8 hrs sleep. And 1 hour to spend with with kids. Thats life and have to live with it whether i like it or not.
It would be better to have more development in smaller cities across India, in the current situation and in the past there is overwhelming migration to the megacities which is putting a huge strain on their infrastuctrure and resources. Hopefully more mid-sized cities will emerge as attractive destinations for migrants in the future.

It could be 30 -40 km wind speed from sea towards airport .So vertical lift could be slightly difficult than conventional take-off given the configuration of the helo.

Mumbai doesn't have really tall buildings because of AAI and airport that is in the middle of the city.
