  • We decided to install the bars on that roof because there really is nothing better than working out outside, breathing fresh air. We got the bars and we moved all the equipment up here so we could do our own gym at home.
    Obviously we got the structure first, got them up into this open space and started putting them together. We get this floor that you typically see in gyms, this goes under the calisthenics structure, and is ideal for when we want to train with weight and do some exercises on the floor such as push-ups.
    What is excellent about the structure we get is that it is mobile. If in the future we want to move to another place, we have the option of taking it. The uprights of the structure are attached to some plates and although it is not bolted to the ground, this structure is quite stable and any type of exercise can be done without problem: even exercises with weight. It may be that this structure is very similar to the crossfit ones, but it has a difference: the length of the bar between the posts.
    If you want to get your own structure, you can find someone in your country to do it. There are more and more people or companies that manufacture them in various countries. And yes, like us, you do not want to screw it to the ground because where it is not allowed, you are going to move soon, or something similar: get the one that is mobile.
    Many of the reasons we decided to get our own bars was to get good bars: they had a good height and a good diameter. Having them now is like a dream come true, we get the ideal space to put them. If you have space in your house, do not hesitate to get them. Or there are some that you can install on your wall so you can train if you don't have space to put some large bars.
    As we mentioned earlier, the height and diameter of the bar is very important. In height, your feet should never touch the ground, you must have it high to be able to do pull-ups, muscle-ups and everything without your feet touching the ground. With the diameter, if it is very thin or thick it will be very uncomfortable to do the exercises. Also the material is very important, if the bar is covered with any paint, you will notice that the skin of your hands will be hurting. Also try to note that the bar is not very smooth, because if it is too smooth, you will not have a good grip and you will run the risk of slipping and injuring yourself. So be careful.
    Training outside is a great benefit as, when you train, your body needs a lot of oxygen. Being in a closed or poorly ventilated gym will not get enough oxygen into your lungs and you will tire yourself out even faster. The fact that we put the bars out here, makes us enjoy breathing fresh air, but also enjoying the view. Although there may be days when it rains a lot or the sun is very strong, we will see the best way to solve this problem.
    The investment you can make for these bars may sound high, but think about how much you spend on gym memberships, paying for a taxi, gas, bus, etc. to get to the training place so that sometimes you cannot train as you wish due to the fact that there are many people or little equipment. Having your own bars or equipment in your home would make a difference.
    The parallels were something very important to have as well. Here we will go from doing barbell exercises to weighted dips on the parallel bars. These are also attached to a stage on the floor that is quite heavy, approximately 100kg.
    When installing everything, we have to verify that absolutely everything is well attached, screwed, and level. We are going to release the bars with a brutal routine.
