Front End Popping and Clicking in 2006 F150 - What Could It Be?

  • In this video, we're addressing an ongoing issue with my 2006 Ford F150 equipped with a 3-inch leveling kit and 33-inch Toyo Open Country MT tires. Despite the recent replacements of the upper control arms and lower ball joints, as well as a fresh front-end alignment, there's an unidentified popping noise that's become a concern.
I'm leaning towards the idea that it might be the rotors or the shocks. If you've encountered a similar issue or have any insights about this, I'd appreciate your input in the comments. Let's get to the bottom of this together.

My Daughters 08 F150 2WD is making a popping noise every time the wheel is turned.
I can get it rolling straight at lower speeds and just turn the wheel side to side and get it to pop every time.
It’s sounds like the frame is cracked.
I noticed the bottom portions of each front seay bar end link where it bolts to the LCA’s appears to be blown out and has a lot of play.
I was able to jack up the vehicle high enough to get the drivers wheel off of the ground and I heard something pop .
I kept raising the tire a inch off the ground and letting the jack slam down.
I dod this several times until I pinpointed the rearward lower control arm bushing moving about 1/4” or more Each time it popped.
Looks like I need LCA’s or just bushings but I’m not sure if they only come with bushings already vulvanized in new LCA’s.
I’ll also replace the sway bar links and bushings.
It also appears the front body to frame mounts are worn out.
Last year I replaced the right side front hub assembly due to a loud creeking noise while turning but only when the wheel was rolling .
It was worse at slow speeds…..the hub bearings were shot.
So far the other side is still fine a year later.

    • @jaredotremba2368

Luke You are correct. Its the part that engages the front wheels to the drive line to apply power to the wheel when 4x4 is on. They have a vacuum inside of them which moves gears into place to drive the wheel. Thus their name Integrated Whee End.

Did you ever figure out what was causing the popping? I have a 05 f150 with 6inch lift and 35 toyo MTs. I have changed both upper and lower control arms and ball joints, replaced the shock struts, sway bar bushings, and rack and pinion. I hear the popping when i turn the wheels on concrete, and even when Im taking off in straight lines and even when i am coming to a stop. I am at loss. I am starting to think it is either the U joints, or transfer case. But the popping comes from the left front. Any response would be greatly appreciated.
