Finally, a regular "Joe" explains it like a good friend. Thanks for your video. It worked well on my 2006 Saturn Vue. I did take the time to clean the muck out of the remote's innards and made sure the contacts were clean as well, and installed a new battery, as the old one showed up a tad weak on my battery tester.
TAKE YOUR REMOTE and open up the two halves. There will be a circuit board with a smooth side. The rubber buttons all have black dots on the black dots on the inside. Cut or punch out tiny little cirles of tinfoil. Use a small amount of superglue.to stick them to the dots. Should be all good. Snap back together and give it a try. Don't use too much glue or you wont gt a good connection. Hope this helps somebody. Ive had my Cobalt since new in 06. My remotes crapped out a couple years in. I went 5 years without them until I found this trick out. Fixed both my remotes. Twelve years later and still am using the same remotes.
Not really necessary. I've cleaned TV remotes for many decades. Clean the circuit board and button pads with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Do NOT use acetone or denatured alcohol!
I really enjoyed driver 1 and 2 via the key fob on my 2004 GMC sierra. This feature was embedded in the gage cluster. In 2005 the cluster changed and you lost a lot of feature available in the DIC. My 2006 Yukon has memory seats on the door panel, but I don't have the feature via the key fobs, even though the fobs still read 1 and 2.
My 07 Cadillac CTS has driver one and drive her to I love that feature!! I just bought two new remotes off of eBay less than a week ago. Took them to my mechanic, he was able to get one to pair to the car but not the other one. So I got a hold of the seller on eBay and he’s really sending me back half of the money. They must’ve been cheap knock off so I don’t know. I thought I was buying regular GM remote but I guess I didn’t.
Keep in mind that not all of these vehicles in the year range shown used this programming method. My 2003 GMC van uses the OBS port where you put a jumper wire between port 4 and port 8 to activate the programming mode. Not the OBS port has two rows of ports. Port 4 and 8 are on the wider side of the opening. Once you place that jumper, all you have to to is push the lock and unlock buttons at the same time. Within a minute the door locks will cycle. Once you finish the first remote be sure to do the other remotes that you have for that vehicle. Once you are done, pull the jumper and the car automatically ends the programming mode. You can do this with the driver door open. It does not need to be closed. No messing around having to turn the ignition on and off either. Pretty straight forward. sare kay: Pop your trunk lid and pull the liner back behind passenger tail light and tell me if you see a small black two pin connector on the wiring harness. It should be wrapped around the antenna or brake light wiring. You have to get your head up in there to find it. Edit: Sorry I didn't include the first time. Once you have located the connector perform the following steps: use a small piece of wire to jump (connect) the pins, you should hear the door locks cycle that means you are in program mode; make sure jumper stays in place (may need an assistant) then press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on your remote until you hear the locks cycle then release; (you can program more than one if you have it), remove jumper and you're done.
If you just want to fix it and not pay for a new one you can do it right now. It's easy. I have an 06 Chevy Cobalt. I bought it brand new. I still have the original remotes. Fixed them once or twice.
2006 HHR requires use of Tech 2 type scanner, tried many variations of this routine on my HHR LT, but no go. Further reading confirmed 2006 [1st year] needs OBD scanner/programmer

Hey Mike I’ve tried this before working like a Charm, BUT today after my last Remote went bad I reordered a new Pair and advanced forward to do the Reprogramming except this time since the remaining defective one can’t work to disable alarm, now when I hold back open door switch then turn key twice, the ALARM turns on loud sounding interrupting the programming process which disallows me to continue wireless auto code insertion codification to accept “auto-key” install validation! How can I BYPASS this dog-gone interference inconvenience? I’m quite anxiously in dismay and annoyed of this inhibition! Please give me another super magic touch method to process key programming! Any tips for a fob that stops working but shows no signs of damage or wear? I bought an official ACDelco replacement fob that stopped working after 3 weeks. Dealer programmed. Normal use, not dropped or stepped on, no water damage. Battery is good. I could get a warranty replacement from ACDelco but really don't want to pay programming fee again. Amazon did give me a refund and didn't make me send it back. So if i could fix it that would be great! Otherwise i may get a Dorman fob that comes with programmer at AutoZone.
The best way to troubleshoot that is to buy a cheapo remote and see if it works. If it does, the remote is bad. If not, then you may have a problem with the receiver in the vehicle. That system is harder to diagnose and more expensive as well. Thanks for watching.

Hello. I am trying to program a brand new replacement key fob for my 2001 Chevy Tahoe. As mentioned the key fob is brand new, with brand new working batteries. I have followed/repeated the entire insert key, hold down unlock button, turn ignition off/on twice, wait for the lock to cycle, press and hold lock/unlock on fob simultaneously. But the lock never cycles therefore the Tahoe never enters programming mode. As a side note, I know that the locks are capable of cycling. Because when I pull and hold the bright light lever while cycling the key twice to program my desired door lock/unlock sequence the locks will actually cycle, the same way that they should when programming the key fobs. Can you please share some troubleshooting steps that might help me diagnose why my Tahoe won't enter programming mode so that I can program my new key fobs? Thank you.

@@JesusOrtiz-qp1so Found that 07 and later if you dont have the ”i” button and VIC you should out key in acc, not ignition, then hold the odometer stalk in for three seconds until info tells you its ready, do the simultanious unlock/lock on fobs and then turn key off. But if you are sure you get into programming mode ”the old way” you probably have the wrong fobs.

It's the carbon buttons behind the keypad that go bad. To avoid dealer or locksmith charges, swap your old PC board into the new remote and no programming needed.There are sellers with just the shell and keypad for $3.00. You can also do a carbon button transplant from a calculator from the dollar store. Use a little silicone adhesive.

The are probably using 2 different frequencies. Need to get the part number off the 01 original remote, then put in Amazon search to get the correct aftermarket remote. GM used several different frequencies on the same vehicles and remotes over the years.

OK, your procedure should be the same. I am a bit confused about what exactly is blinking? If your vehicle is flashing the lights when you hit the button but the door locks are not operating. Try disconnecting the battery overnight and reprogram. If that does not work, you may have an issue with a body control module or a bad remote.
Axle's Garage the program button that’s built into my antenna blinks. The remote blinks red when I press a button but it does nothing. Can’t access program mode.
No it will not: Step-by-Step How To Programming Instructions: Access programming connector in left-hand (LH) side of trunk (Driver’s side). You may have to pull back some trim or carpet to access the programming connector. It will have a plug on the end of it with two ports. Use a paperclip or similar conductive wire to jump programming connector and connect the two ports. Be sure you are making contact with the metal inside both ports. System should now lock and unlock doors and activate trunk release to indicate successful entry into programming mode. Press and hold Lock and Unlock buttons at the same time for up to 15 seconds. System should now lock and unlock doors and activate trunk release to indicate successful programming of remote. Repeat Step 4 for each additional remote to be programmed. To exit programming mode remove jumper wire. Test all remotes. Programming is now complete.

My driver side door won't unlock and lock the second time after I turned my key on and off twice it just stayed in the lock position

Check and see if you didn't get remotes with different frequency. Should be printed somewhere on remote.

The only down side is my driver set moves every time I hit the unlock button. Is there a way to get that to stop or is that in the programing ?
That option is in the menu on the dash. It can be turned off or on from the dash readout.

That's a tough one, maybe disconnect battery, turn key to on position and reconnect battery

You could have the wrong frequency remotes. If I remember right, there are 2 different frequency ranges.

I have an 03 Trailblazer and this did not work for me. It goes into programming mode and then immediately comes out of programming mode
This is the proper method for your vehicle.
The 212 that didn't like this video are most likely the people at the dealerships that's not going to make that 2 to 3 hundred dollars programming your key fob.

OK, your procedure should be the same. I am a bit confused about what exactly is blinking? If your vehicle is flashing the lights when you hit the button but the door locks are not operating. Try disconnecting the battery overnight and reprogram. If that does not work, you may have an issue with a body control module or a bad remote.
Axle's Garage the program button that’s built into my antenna blinks. The remote blinks red when I press a button but it does nothing. Can’t access program mode.

Step-by-Step How To Programming Instructions:
Access programming connector in
left-hand (LH) side of trunk (Driver’s side). You may have to pull back
some trim or carpet to access the programming connector. It will have a
plug on the end of it with two ports.
Use a paperclip or similar conductive
wire to jump programming connector and connect the two ports. Be sure
you are making contact with the metal inside both ports.
System should now lock and unlock doors and activate trunk release to indicate successful entry into programming mode.
Press and hold Lock and Unlock buttons at the same time for up to 15
seconds.
System should now lock and unlock doors and activate trunk
release to indicate successful programming of remote.
Repeat Step 4 for each additional remote to be programmed.
To exit programming mode remove jumper wire.
Test all remotes.
Programming is now complete.
