    I've played and beaten all 3 operation rainfall games: The Last Story, Pandora's Tower and Xenoblade Chronicles in that exact order all the way back in 2012. Xenoblade Chronicles is most definitely one of the greatest JRPG's of all time, if not at least of that generation. The Last Story was a phenomenal game as well. I loved its unique take on combat that featured a mix of real time action with a cover and aggro system. Pandora's Tower was also a great game. I enjoyed it's puzzles, platforming mechanics and real time action combat as well its story. Both The Last Story and Pandora's Tower in my opinion are deserving of their own remasters.

And an unbeatable boss can become an easy speed bump just by giving your sidequests some attention when they're needed

    • @analyzegames1
      @analyzegames1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adamneumann248 I don't think have any major tips but:
      1. Try playing as every character. They play wildly different and pretty much all of them are fun.
      2. All of the characters have different strengths. It can be pretty easy to fall into just using Reyn, Shulk and Sharla as tank/dps/healer all game. They're very straight forward and it's easy to make them strong, but the other characters are also powerful and can be better or worse depending on the situation.
      3. Sidequests mostly exist for extra experience if get behind on levels and just something to do if you want. Feel free to ignore them most of the time. The game does a pretty good job keeping you on track level wise.
      4. Try taking on some of the mini-boss monsters roaming around as you explore for drops, experience and just for fun.
      5. Exploring/unlocking areas on the map rewards a lot of experience.
      6. Agility is really, really good.

      I'd say the combat and music were a bit better in 2, but the story is definitely better in 1. I think people don't give the soundtrack of xenoblade 2 enough credit. It's in my opinion the best soundtrack ever made and It's amazing how much work they put into it, if you search what they actually did for the soundtrack. From what I know it's the biggest music project in any game that I know of. Also I think that the complaint ''It's too anime'' is one of the dumbest complaints I've ever seen. It's like people are actually made that a Japanese game resembles other Japanese media. Despite that, having actually seen a lot of anime I can say that the story in xenoblade 1 is just as ''Anime like'' as the story in the second game. Overall I'd say both games have their strengths and weaknesses, but after the improvements in the definitive edition I'd have to say that I prefer Xenoblade 1 for it's story.
      Oh sorry I realized the comment went for kind of a long time. Hope me sharing my thoughts won't bother you.

    This is a great review, but I have to say (after just finishing the game) that I didn’t find the story to be very strong, and most of the scenes were cliche and needlessly melodramatic/predictable. The side quests were indeed horrible, and took up far too much of the actual gameplay (since you would never need to explore the environments very much otherwise). I also didn’t enjoy the combat until the very end, and even then, the wonky way they chose to treat the leveling system in this game kind of ruined it. equipment and Arte choice barely mattered, because you just need to make sure your level matches the enemies in the area, and you can just spam artes to win. And if you accidentally over-level even slightly (with the abundance of side quests), the enemies get a massive nerf to their accuracy, and even bosses can barely touch you. I understand why they implemented this system, but I don’t like it at all. It sucked the strategy out of everything, because levels are all that truly matter
    My favorite thing about this game was definitely the soundtrack for the various locations. I especially liked how most areas had different themes for day and night. The gem crafting, equipment system and skill sharing systems were also very clever. I just wish they spent more time making a mature script for the game, and diving into its various concepts....and less on padding it out with tedious side quests.

Persona 5 undoubtedly has the best overall presentation in the entire series, but persona 2: eternal punishment is still my favorite. I didn’t really care for the series becoming a relationship sim with p3 and beyond. Eternal punishment just feels like a classic jrpg, with a relatively mature cast of characters...Combat grinding instead of dialogue grinding. And I like that you can completely customize which persona each character is using. It allows for more depth and customization to the combat. The series starts to hold your hand after that, and loses any semblance of challenge because every character comes with their predetermined abilities that cover all your needs
