    Thank you! This game has so much and can be really overwhelming. After seeing everyone’s reactions to Xenoblade 3 I decided to start from the beginning in hopes of having the same appreciation for the series. It’s hard to start, especially since with kids, a job a house etc I don’t get to play nearly as much as I’d like to. Super helpful thank you. I really didn’t want to miss out on this series. Thanks for making it easier to get the hang of.

      Absolutely! I felt similarly and devoted myself to playing through them, even though it took quite a bit of time. At the end of the day, it was so worth it. Good luck and thanks for your comments :)

      I find playing handheld is so much better. It makes it way easier to play. Even if it's just 30 minutes. You can set it down. And pick it back up.

      I was in the same spot, lackluster writing and thoughts of "singleplayer mmo" went through my head for the first 12 hours but after that i was hooked after delving deeper into the gameplay systems and finding them really interesting. And the writing and story picked up quite a bit toward the end. I did focus on completing the game, did no extra side quests because i want to get on with the series, if not i could see myself spending more time with this game playing end-game plus etc. Looking forward to playing the next installment in the series!

    For anyone playing the game for the first time: don't feel intimidated to experiment with any other characters, all are usable and they don't really fall much behind in experience when you're not using them
    You can swap them anytime you want and switching things up makes the game much more fun

    I was so discouraged starting this game. 20 hours in now, and I really love it. Don’t be afraid to switch to casual mode, unless you’re a hard core gamer and need the bragging rights, lol. Playing in the easier mode has allowed me to slowly get better and understand the battle system and really get into the story and the massively beautiful world. This tutorial was massively helpful! Thank you!

      @@thatnintendoquality Yes i will play the sequel’s to. My only problem is Xenoblade 2’s price tag, the game is 6 years old and still full priced. It’s not that i can’t afford it, but it’s a bit to much tbh. As it stands now, Xenoblade 1 will probably be one of the best games i have ever played. Last game sucked me in like that”Do not overthink it:P” was Witcher III years ago. Thanks for this guide btw, started the game like i was playing for years because of it👍

    I played the original versions on both Wii and 3DS. When I first played this, I got confused and it was pretty tricky to get through. As I play more and more, I learned how to play and enjoyed it. It takes a lot of time to understand the mechanics and the gameplay itself.

    I had stopped playing it for a long time when I was like 20 hours in. Felt like I progressed too slow and stuff and almost didn't level up. I always fight with the weaker mobs for exp but now I know that I have to do more quests haha. so many systems i love these games but also oh my god. i'm glad i never turned on the casual mode because i absolutely need to engage with a teams designs and come to terms with them to better understand the game as a whole. the bosses in the game got me so frickin mad, until the ether mine i really got it together there. learning the level penalty stuff and also learning to chill with shulk is important. if you're feeling like you have to rush with shulk then maybe the level is off.

    XBC1 always felt as though the battles are so team specific and I have a hard time experimenting with party members that aren't Shulk Reyne and Sharla. Dunban is okay at absorbing aggro and has high evasion. But the lack of good healers makes this game so difficult. Enemies that can't be taken down with specific characters also drives me crazy. LR;DR I just feel confined while playing this game whereas the two sequels allows me to have much more freedom and customization thus making it more fun and easy

    • @thatnintendoquality
      @thatnintendoquality  ปีที่แล้ว

      While I still enjoy it, I probably think it’s the least fun combat in the series, with X being only slightly better. Agree that I prefer 2 and 3’s combat over both though.

    I’ll be honest, I completely underestimated this game. I wasn’t too sure about it since you “auto battle” but can still choose arts to use, but man it can get hard. You definitely can’t just lay your switch down and watch the fight, you gotta really pick and choose and think about what to do lol. It’s starting to grow on me

      I didn't consider about the enemy exp at all but I still consider fight at least some cause it saved me the little bit of hassle for some quests since some enemies need to be killed so when I got the actual quest it automatically completed so I didn't have to backtrack. Now obviously it doesn't work out like that if I didn't get the item right away, haven't seen the enemy required or for some enemies I skip over. But still at least knocked out a few quests without having to backtrack

    • @thatnintendoquality

      The story/core experience is not much different. The Switch version has a brand new epilogue (it’s a separate mode). It’s cool but you don’t miss too much story skipping it. Switch version also has some nice-to-have stuff like easier/clearer battle HUD and menus, indicators on which arts are most effective, etc. Switch version is probably the overall best choice. But Wii and 3DS versions are still great.

  • @El_Surge

    I disagree with the last tip. Ot course grinding will help overcome any story battle, but it discourages the player from learning to play effectively - and the missing issue is negatable with agility gems, any ether arts, toppling, agility down debuffs etc. The player wont really grasp the combat, and instead believe that the only solution is to level up in order to win as if this is final fantasy 7 or whatnot

    • @thatnintendoquality
      @thatnintendoquality  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great point. Of course you can level grind to become overpowered, so it helps if a certain fight is causing new players to get stuck. But I agree with you it’s quite possible to win despite the penalties which is a great added challenge and encourages more advanced strategy. Winning using the right build/strategy is more rewarding than just grinding.

    Other than that it’s a really great world, decently interesting story so far, though not mind-blowing, the characters are ok and I am reasonably attached to most of them, and the combat is a lot of fun.
    So, overall happy with it and it really shines in some areas, but it hasn’t been the mind-blowing experience some have had with it.
