Still driving my lifted 2000 Excursion with the 7.3 turbo, original engine currently @ 281,000 miles, new transmission @ 265,000! Great for snow skiing, great with the 31.5' toy hauler behind it!
Back in that day SUVs were the most popular thing on the road. And the bigger the SUV the cooler you were. The Excursion was Ford's answer to the Chevy Suburban at the time. I actually wanted one but the gas mileage just killed it for me. So when I upgraded from my 96 5.0 V8 Explorer I bought a brand new 01 Expedition. I was the coolest young cat driving then. I installed 6 tvs, 2 sets of underglow lights, strobe lights in the head and taillights, a great stereo system with surround sound for movies/ games played on the tvs, a playstation 2 (best game system out in 2001) custom paint, and 24 in. rims. I still have that truck and now ppl see it and wonder wtf am I driving and why I still have it 😂. I don't care I'm not getting rid of it because it runs great, it has very low miles, and the bluebook value is terrible. Might as well keep it.
A Coil packs blow out, literally. Get it fixed, then the next coil pack explodes. Fix it. Another one blows out. You replace the head the packs are blowing out on, then the packs start exploding on the other head. Sounds like hell.
i had the explorer which was just like that POS , the frame broke in the back of mine in 5 places,i got it all welded up then the drive shaft broke.Real POS those rigs are...lol
Check out the 2010 Dodge Journey. Biggest piece of shit I have ever owned! The vehicle is plagued with many electrical problems. My horn would randomly go off while sitting the yard.
@@MrMlthomas1958 Funny how the Expedition (first launched for model year 1997) was a four-door SUV, but replaced the Bronco which was a two-door SUV! The original Expedition was based on the then-new version of the Ford F-150 pickup truck, but the Excursion was based on the larger Ford F-250 pickup truck. Interestingly though, the F-150 and F-250 made from 1992 to 1997 were almost identical-looking trucks (the front end of the two trucks were identical, and the same front-end design was used for the Bronco) but starting with model year 1997, the F-150 and F-250 were turned into two completely different trucks! The Expedition was launched at the same time for the 1997 model year, but surprisingly Ford waited until model year 2000 to launch the Excursion. Considering how the classic Bronco (not to be confused with Ford's "new Bronco" made today) had HORRIBLE gas mileage, I feel sorry for Excursion owners because the Excursion must have EVEN WORSE gas mileage, which is hard for me to imagine because I owned a Bronco in the 90's, and even though the Bronco was considered a full-size SUV, it was TINY compared to the gigantic Excursion! I loved my Bronco but the gas mileage absolutely sucked!
@@trentpettit6336 I had a 78 Bronco with the 351M. Couldn't get more than 12.5 mpg hwy...and that's below 60mph. Just bought a 2000 Excursion a few months ago with the V10 and absolutely love it. Yeah the gas mileage may not be the greatest, but hey, it IS a 3/4 ton truck, which aren't known for good gas mileage. That said, I've gotten 14+ with my BIG E running 65-70...considerably better than my old Bronco which wouldn't get more than 10-11 at those speeds. IRT the Fords from 96 and earlier, the bodies WERE identical across the board, just different frames weight wise. I wish Ford would've continued that for 98 and later using the F250 and heavier bodies...they had a winner there. When I had my 78 Bronco, I parked next to a new Excursion...the BIG E with factory lift and tires absolutely dwarfed my Bronco, which had a slight lift (1 1/2") and 31" tires. Saw a new BIG E next to a new Suburban at a red light...well the BIG E dwarfed that too. Shame they stopped makin' them.
Ford was so creative. They had the Ranger so they made the Explorer. They had the F150 so they made the Expedition. And they had the F250/350 base for this turkey. At a job a long time ago, the owner's son had an Explorer with the same mashed potato handling. I had to drive it once. The owner bought a new 2000 Expedition. I made them mad at me by falling asleep in it as passenger, on the clock. Ooopsie. Had to refuel that pig on occasion. Even in 2000, it was over 50 bucks to fill up the tank and it wouldn't last long. I was thrilled it wasn't my problem paying for the gas. And I wrecked it. So that was fun.

One of the best diesels ever made or SUV ever. The two guys testing are "tools". They should and drive a Ugo. More so on how does it handle .....Like a Jeep made in that same era. You expect what a BMW? what a tool you guys are.
That one should of been sent to the crusher back in Lousiana after the hurricane. ANy vehicle that's been flooded needs to be scraped, never buy a salvage vehicle if you intend to keep any of the drive train or electrical system.
19ft long? Dayum... you'd have to give other road users a half hour's notice before making a turn. Cos we all know, there's only two kinds of American cars; those built for straight lines, and those built for turning slightly left (NASCAR)...
You girls would probably love that truck if it was painted like a rainbow
That's a pos? That first shot getting in those seats look pristine. And it's a diesel which is way more sought after than the v10

$25000, is that the scrap value for something the size of a battleship.
Godzilla Engine is one of the best! Will out ran a new diesel best believe
Godzilla is the 7.3l gas engine not the 7.3l powerstroke. Also a 6.7l powerstroke could quite literally rip the 7.3l powerstroke apart in 1st gear.
