- Remember our Red Brick Redo project that we started a little while back? Well, we've been scurrying like a team of busy elves to get this entire renovated heritage home done and redecorated in time for the family to enjoy for the holidays. In today's episode of my Design Life, we're taking you on a sneak peek progress walkthrough of Santa's... we mean, Sarah's workshop before we reveal the final transformation of this 4,000 sq. ft home! With a flurry of wallpapering, tiling, installing, placing and perfecting happening in every room, the race is on to finish this whole-home makeover before the holidays start. Sarah, as the last few seconds were disappearing in regards to the tree being decorated…my heart wished this was my home. As I dislike my house so much. I don’t like calling it a home anymore but after seeing this transformation, I want that feeling. But not for the house we are in at the moment…somewhere, some day we, I will get that - 'nicely measured team!' feeling🥰

I must be old, which I am, but I have always hated a bed in front of a window.....so much nicer to wake up and be able to see out a window
I was thinking the very same thing! I know Sarah will make it beautiful. I don’t think that I could personally put the bed covering the window in my own house.
@bobinabuddy - you are correct. If one follows basic feng Shui principles, energy coming from above or behind you is not ideal. It’ll come down to the person who is going to be sleeping in the room if he or she is going to feel comfortable with the head position there. Other than that of course Sarah’s designs are always beautiful.
I just said the same thing its like when the program ER had all the Dr's putting their stethoscopes round their necks I wanted to stangle them with it. All those beautiful windows and now everyone everywhere puts big beds in front. Grrr.
I feel the same way! But in that room with such a big bed, I don't think there was another spot for it.
I don't know why that makes you old...
It was wonderful to see her children's expressions of happiness!! Such a joy to see a house transforming into a home.

and Sarahs magic wand has waved thru yet another project,..taking it from a beautiful house , to a gorgeous home!!! what a beautiful Christmas Gift for that family!!! for those who dont "get" the bed in front of a window,...know that your spaces are more than likely not arranged for the best use of space. Trust the professionals,..theres a reason their rooms always look best in the end!

Phenomenal wallpaper choices. Hard to pick a favorite but if pushed I would say the kitchen mural and the blue Asian inspired bedroom. Spectacular

I just don't know how to put into words Sarah's style that makes her so unique. Something about the colors and patterns and clean lines she chooses. My dream would be to have her help me with a total makeover!

I like how you often rethink and repurpose items: two round tables used together as pedestal bases, and in other projects, lights used outside their expected place (the wall sconces at the rental property and the lights in the bathroom makeover with the blue vanity). Always thinking outside the box.
And I love how you talk about the elements of the design and the way you describe them. 😊
I LOVE waking up to find a new episode of Design Life in my inbox! Having gone through a reno myself I am keenly aware of continuous design, furniture, fixture, and upholstery decisions that need to be made. My BFF readily commented, "Remember Judy, it won't be completed in 30 minutes" referring to watching Sarah's shows on HGTV! It took close to 10 months! Again, I am awed by the number of decisions that went into this project Sarah, all the while keeping focused simultaneously on other projects, a family, and your own holiday schedule. I cannot wait to see the finished project nor can I only imagine the expense not sparred to bring this Christmas Miracle to LIFE! Kudos to you & your fabulous Team!

Have to say your moving hit was dead on. When we moved to a brand new Carriage House. It took three days. 1. Boxes from existing home delivered to garage, with boxes of new lamps and accessories. 2. All new furniture pieces for all rooms, delivered and placed. 3. Existing furniture was moved in. The process worked well. We then opened boxes casually from the garage within a week. Staggered deliveries works.

Merry Christmas Sarah and family! Great reveal of this house, so love the cloud wallpaper and the little boy should be excited with the map wall paper. I would be wanting to plan trips all over the world with that. My favorite, of course are the Roman shades in the master bedroom. They remind me of some that I used when I was living in Baltimore so many years ago, though mine were rattan and not that pretty print. I think it is going to be one of those houses where you see something different every time you walk in the door.
