God SR is the queen of making Ikea look high-end. As a designer myself, I know how tricky it can be to out-smart their cabinetry system to make your design look custom. Her and her team do it brilliantly!

Love Sarah Richardson. Not only is her design fabulous, chic, and livable, she herslf has an amazing charisma and warmth. I wish HGTV in usa would give her a show. I miss "Sarah's House" The new build living room was my favorite

I also love Sarah Richardson although I have to laugh her budget for a faucet would likely be my budget for the whole bathroom LOL. I would love a series (are you listening Sarah) where she did a place over on an extreme budget, that would be a great challenge for her and would give the rest of us hope! I love Sarah on TH-cam!

Such a change! The principal bedroom was such smart design. With a color palette that limited/pale, it could have been boring and bland. But all the textures make it extremely inviting. Those rope lamps were both a steal and a touch of genius. I've always been a fan of basketry lampshades, so you had me there with the ceiling light. As soon as I saw the (ex)powder room floor I immediately saw "quilt." My mom was a quilter, and I also love those old quilt patterns. Pretty and updated. Nice.

Love this end result, and I especially loved the conversations you had with your team during the planning and construction phases. I think collaborative design is the best approach, no one person is always going to have all the ideas. If you work with people who know their stuff, they'll think of things that might not have occurred to you. Sometimes their ideas will be better. Why not take those ideas and use them? The final result is all that matters in the end, and everyone can feel proud of their contribution to the project.

Light, bright and beautiful with so many tones and textures! So many great touches and attention to detail! Getting rid of the doors to provide more storage in the master bedroom and turning the powder room into a full bathroom were brilliant ideas. Now, in the bathrooms you didn’t talk about the toilets, the potties, the thrones. What is your opinion “skirted” toilets? The first time I saw them on a fellow Canadian’ s blog I was sold!! No more cleaning around the crevices; it looks streamlined, modern and well, no longer naked! And finally, why don’t you ever age?😉

I think the chalet is my favourite overall Sarah reno ever! Such a drastic change and so bright, fresh, textural, stylish. Curious as to why the two different whites for the bedroom & ensuite - perhaps because one needed a little yellow in it (bedroom/Balboa Mist), and the other needed to be more neutral (ensuite/Chantilly Lace)?

STUNNING! homerun on all three spaces. Window (re)placement was the game changer! One question I hope you have time to answer....ceiling fixture - would you hang that same fixture in a regular height (flat) ceiling (perhaps smaller)? What are your suggestions for ceiling fixtures so they don’t feel like they take up the room? My principle is only 14 x 17.

I wondered why you did different metal accents in the bathrooms of the same house… Like your midtown Reno.. I would never think to do that… if I walked into a house and they had brushed nickle in one bath and brass in another I would think that they were renovated at different times…. Oh, btw,I can’t believe brass is back in style..,I’m still trying to get rid of my brass shower door…. I love the tile in the guest bath!

I love the principal bedroom. So light and looks so much bigger than before without all the heavy furniture. The bathroom looks great but I have to ask what happened to the giant shampoo niche that Chris designed😂. The hall bath looks so much better and I really like the floor tiles. I think I would have liked a tub shower combo in that bathroom. Can’t wait to see the kitchen and living room. I like these videos so much more than watching on TV.

  • @helenyanchus170
    @helenyanchus170 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Sarah, I truly appreciated how you were able to make the chalet feel open and airy while still maintaining its warmth. I was a little surprised at the Balboa colour choice in the principle bedroom because on the fan deck it reads more muddy than it does on the video- though I’m not sure how much that has to do with the TH-cam lighting quality. I am wondering why you didn’t take the kitchen cabinet next to the refrigerator up to the ceiling since you spoke about storage. I’m also wondering if you considered encasing the portion above the mantle (to hide the pink granite) in the media room and painting that out rather than using a large decorative element to mask it. I am currently looking at painting the entire main floor of our new home, a bungalow that is open concept but I’m having difficulty choosing a neutral gray for the walls and a crisp white for the trim. I’m always looking to you for ideas but I’m worried that what I see on the television is not really represented correctly due to lighting quality.

I’m always confused by all the white color shades by BM. I don’t like a stark white, too harsh for my taste. So I will look for these as I’m painting my basement room today and need it to be light and bright and airy.

Hi Sarah- Great reveal! Can you tell me if you use the IKEA “flat” plumbing with the Godmorgan vanities? Do you just add blocking in the back for more counter depth, or to fit conventional plumbing? We’re using these vanities in our principal bath, and want to get it right.
    Thank you!!
    And yes, very cute sweater!

Beautiful reno! I’m looking at using the Godmorgon vanity in my ensuite but Ikea told me I could not install an undermount sink and quartz counter on it. How did you do it? Are the top drawers still functional?

Any thoughts about adding more ADA features into remodels to extend the usefulness for an aging owner.
Wider halls, wider doorways, no step shower floor, lever door handles.....

Sarah, love this reno. I have a paint question, what product do you use to stop the knots in the wood beams bleeding through. Thanks

I am enthralled with your transformation of this chalet and I’m getting very anxious to see the kitchen. When Sarah, when???

Very nice. I would love a 90" vanity. There is no such thing as to much storage or counter surface.
