I feel like Su Bingtian and Chridtian Coleman don't get enough credit for their 60 meter world records. To me 60 meters is more interesting than 200 meters
Coleman's record is legit and he's known as the best starter around (Su raced him many times in the 60m and 100m and lost each time). Su ran the fastest first 60m ever but ran one of the slowest last 40m and nearly lost and burned himself out while celebrating like he won the final (not a good race when Baker literally tied him to the hundredth of a second at the finish, Su blew that big lead he had). Su was fast enough to medal in the Olympic final but he said he planned on the semifinal being that for him. In contrast Jacobs also set a European record in the same semifinal race but didn't get excited about it because the goal was to win the final not just run a fast time. If anything Su just showed how to be inefficient. Bolt had the fastest 60m split ever (6.31) until Su beat it but Bolt also finished that race strong and didn't fade at the end (he ran 9.58 for the current world record). You're never supposed to use all your energy at the start of the race. That's foolish.
@@gmaxsfoodfitness3035 Ok and? Su still ran 60m faster? That doesnt change anything? Also he is at a massive disadvantage in terms of genetics so its not fair to compare him to bolt. He is also way past his prime where as coleman was at his prime.

2:50 None of the American sprinters on that top-75 list are of "full West African descent". They are substantially West African but, like other African Americans, also have European ancestry. The same is likely true of the Caribbean sprinters.
@@WastedBananas It's possible, but that would be a very rare case. African Americans typically are found to have 15-20% European ancestry from DNA tests.
Basically all the top sprinters received training in America ot from American coaches. America has the most advanced training and sports science capabilities in the world.
@@dannytq ummmm...you seem to be forgetting about Jamaica. Francis, Mills, Walcott...they have trained the fastest people ever ( Bolt, Blake, Powell, Fraser - Pryce, Thompson Herah, Jackson etc). @@mac195000 I mean we have European ancestry because rape was a real thing. Also when you look into it historically these numbers are not a monolith. For example, Jamaicans on average will have 10 - 15 percent European ancestry ( myself having only 8.5). Where as the majority of Jamaicans all have collision of the very specific tribes ( which were the specific tribes brought to Jamaica by request of Spanish and British settlers/slave owners). So yes European ancestry, but it doesn't amount to much in Jamaica...to which you will find Jamaicans that aren't mixed with white at all but Chinese, South Asian, and Arabic/Western Asian due to migrational patterns. I remember the hype around Matthew Bolling & Abby Steiner when they were in college. Ppl were expecting them to shock the world. Fast forward 4 years later, neither of them made the finals in sprint events. In fact Bolling gave up on sprinting & now runs the 400. Abby Steiner didn't even make the US team. Like he said, the top 75 sprint times are ALL of African descent. If that's not the definition of complete domination, idk what is. If any Asian manages to win a medal, he'll most likely be of sub-Saharan African descent.
That sounds like someone who can improve over the years but he's not at a level yet to be mentioned in this video. He needs to run like 10 flat in the 100m AND knock almost 2 seconds off of his 200m PB to compete with the first sprinter on this list Zhenye. No disrespect to him but the times he has are good high school times (both are much slower than Boonson ran at 16). Jamaica - population 2.8 million. China 1 billion plus. For every one single Jamaican person there are over 350 Chinese. Statistically the Chinese will easily surpass Jamaica in sprinting.
Not true mate. Chinese and other East Asians are constrained by genetic limits. Even the enormous size of the Chinese population is not enough to negate this fact. If what you are saying is true Chinese would already be dominating all sports. We don't see this, so even a tiny country like Jamaica will always produce better sprinters than China or any Asian country. That little island is mostly made of people who are mostly of West African descent. Who have excelled at and dominated sprinting and power sports for decades. Notice in the Olympics you see Asians gravitating to sports which don't require speed and power such as table tennis, archery, shooting etc.. There is a reason for this.
@@ZeroOneZero-bi1ww Well, I'm actually of black Jamaican descent myself with both parents being born and raised in Jamaica. I have that 'sprint gene' myself. I am an avid Athletics and Basketball fan and cheer on any Jamaican / Caribbean athlete. However, when applying statistics to the subject in hand, people mostly look to statistical norms. In a nut shell most people within any given population stand around the mean. Then you have some extremely poor ones, and then some extremely good ones. Given the Chinese population is literally hundreds of times bigger than the Jamaican population, those that fall into the extremely good ones will number in the hundreds more than Jamaicans, increasing the chance of a Chinese Olympic 100m champion. OK, we have not seen that yet of course, but going back even 20 years ago to most people it would have been unthinkable for a Chinese man to run sub 10, but yet now we see it every championship. I think given this, it is only a matter of time before a Chinese guy is crowned Olympic 100m champion . . . . but I know you don't agree with that.
It’s less ‘bro science’ and more like ‘19th century race science’. If this guy was born 100 years earlier, he’ll be talking about how Asians will never be as smart as the Europeans and can’t compete with them because they’re limited by their genetics.
Damn, if only we were anatomically similar to our White/Latino/African counterparts. Us Asians have shorter legs relative to our toros, so that is a significant disadvantage for sprinting. We might be able to produce as much force per stride, but that stride length is relatively shorter, so Asians lose the contest at the end of the race.
You failed to include actual Asians like Srilankan and Malaysian sprinters whilst putting black athletes in the list with names like Norman. Come on man.

Bro, look at development of olympic records back then, there were barely any sub 10 seconds even in 1988. The difference is coaching and confidence and mentality + explosive genetics. Which asian population has a high percentage of. We have the talent pool, even if it's less ideal than africans due to our longer torso, the huge population makes up for it due to genetic variety. China just started it's development and GDp per capita is still 13k, They were most of population in poverty. lack of nutrition. lack of coaching. USA GDp is more than 5x China. while CHina population is 5x USA. Chinese people are explosive, but it's a luxury to be able to train for olympics. A lot of the population talent has to be overlooked when they have such a strict selection process for athletics. Imagine not being chosen because your parents are too short. They probably will focus on school due to this lack of belief and confidence stemming from already this low-risk high-return approach (which i believe is due to their low GDP so they don't have to fund as much for a competitive olympics athletes. I hope Chinese culture starts to focus on sports as the GDP grows like in the americas where high schools face off competitively with good coaching and funding. I hope it becomes an integral part of the system to develop talent. Rather than the current highly selective method that seems to focus on minimizing monetary investment on return. Even now, our coaching is still need improvement (maybe) But su bingtian literally found an american coach which figured out how to improve Su bingtian's time and what to focus on for improvement and got him to 9.83 Africans are gifted in explosiveness. but Asians are as well. Even if asians tend to have longer torso relative to which is not optimal for sprinting. There are a lot of factors. And Su bingtian proved that by focusing on acceleration due to his shorter legs relative to body and lower center of gravity. The culture of chinese people were to escape poverty through education and development. Not focus on sports. Diet was very lacking as well, which meant less growth. less size, and less muscle and less emphasis on sports. That's why you don't see the athleticism in a lot of Asian. They focus on academics. This caused people to stereotype, and also our own confidence was probably hurt which is a self fulfilling prophecy, which means people don't try in sports. Why would they when they believe they won't be good? I think it's starting to change, and we will see a lot more sprinters that can be competitive in the newer generation as our nutrition improves. As far as african aamerican culture, they focus 90% on athletics and sports. 10% in academics (or something like that idk)... But a lot of potential can still be found. Our GDp is still very low per capita, and we have a lot of room and more talent to find and bloom.
@@jasonwong4334 your whole comment is nonsense. Jamaica is a poor country, yet they've had many top sprinters. The reason behind Asian success sprinting are peptides, HGH and steroids. Japanese scientists have found these supplements to increase speed by up to %50. Before steroids were prevalent, black American men dominated sprinting. This changed after Caribbean countries received independence. Asian success in athletics is purely dependent on juice.

If an Asian is good at something, they admit that they are good. This comes from a healthy self image that most Asians do not have.

I don’t remember seeing any in the Olympics outside of Japan who has always been competitive

The same is likely true of the Caribbean sprinters.
there's no indication that all african americans have european ancestry. it's definitely possible that some are purely west african in ancestry.
Alot of Jamaicans are now staying home, because for them there is starting to be no reason to go to America in terms of training ( many still go for the educational aspects and scholarship hopes), and alot of our young athletes are returning from America.
I myself am 90 percent West African, with the biggest populations coming from Nigeria, Ghana, and Congo ( like most Jamaicans and Haitians).

Nowhere

@@ZeroOneZero-bi1ww This is just bro science logic 😂
It’s less ‘bro science’ and more like ‘19th century race science’. If this guy was born 100 years earlier, he’ll be talking about how Asians will never be as smart as the Europeans and can’t compete with them because they’re limited by their genetics.
Black Sprinters are way better 🤷♀️

That's all they are good at just running 🤣🤣🤣 from cops abd child support
They started putting steroids in their beef like the US 😂
Damn, if only we were anatomically similar to our White/Latino/African counterparts. Us Asians have shorter legs relative to our toros, so that is a significant disadvantage for sprinting. We might be able to produce as much force per stride, but that stride length is relatively shorter, so Asians lose the contest at the end of the race.
What are you smoking? White boys have the slowest twitch muscle reflex and can be outrun by an Asian any day.

Or you mean non Jamaican and non American.
Even now, our coaching is still need improvement (maybe)
But su bingtian literally found an american coach which figured out how to improve Su bingtian's time and what to focus on for improvement and got him to 9.83
Africans are gifted in explosiveness. but Asians are as well.
@@jasonwong4334 "African Americans actually focus on sports %90 and academics %10" is pure ignorance. There is no study that can allow you to draw this conclusion. This opinion is a product of an inferiority complex. Due to this inferiority complex, you are incapable of giving credit to others good qualities. Instead, you attempt to denigrate them. Here's the reality, in general African Americans are more successful than Chinese if you compare gdp. But in reality, African Americans do not study Asians at all. If an Asian is good at something, they admit that they are good. This comes from a healthy self image that most Asians do not have.
