Thank you so much for posting this! What's shocking is there is still a prevalent view that Asians are inferior sprinters in conversations I'm seeing online - the data and trajectory definitely indicates otherwise!
Asians are not a monolith, there is massive genetic diversity. I went to school in Australia and some of the fastest people were of Asian background, some of the least sport inclined were also Asian - a very diverse mix of people!
As someone whos of Asian background, I always had a feeling we would see more elite Asian sprinters and more elite asian soccer/football players. We are starting to see both.
I really hope more Asian kids see this and shoot for the stars. Too many of us are fixated on taking the safe, academic focused route in life. Myself included.

This is how the Chinese do it. When I was younger, my cousins were always better at game cube super smash. I begged my mom to buy it for me, and I sat and played it day and night. I got so good at it, when i started playing my cousins, they just weren't able to catch my reaction time and skill in the game, and they never wanted to play with me anymore. It just goes to show, if you just put your mind to something, and worker a little harder, you can always become a better version of yourself in which beats their best.

Coleman's record is legit and he's known as the best starter around (Su raced him many times in the 60m and 100m and lost each time). Su ran the fastest first 60m ever but ran one of the slowest last 40m and nearly lost and burned himself out while celebrating like he won the final (not a good race when Baker literally tied him to the hundredth of a second at the finish, Su blew that big lead he had). Su was fast enough to medal in the Olympic final but he said he planned on the semifinal being that for him. In contrast Jacobs also set a European record in the same semifinal race but didn't get excited about it because the goal was to win the final not just run a fast time. If anything Su just showed how to be inefficient. Bolt had the fastest 60m split ever (6.31) until Su beat it but Bolt also finished that race strong and didn't fade at the end (he ran 9.58 for the current world record). You're never supposed to use all your energy at the start of the race. That's foolish.

For example, Jamaicans on average will have 10 - 15 percent European ancestry ( myself having only 8.5). Where as the majority of Jamaicans all have collision of the very specific tribes ( which were the specific tribes brought to Jamaica by request of Spanish and British settlers/slave owners). So yes European ancestry, but it doesn't amount to much in Jamaica...to which you will find Jamaicans that aren't mixed with white at all but Chinese, South Asian, and Arabic/Western Asian due to migrational patterns. Not true mate. Chinese and other East Asians are constrained by genetic limits. Even the enormous size of the Chinese population is not enough to negate this fact. If what you are saying is true Chinese would already be dominating all sports. We don't see this, so even a tiny country like Jamaica will always produce better sprinters than China or any Asian country. That little island is mostly made of people who are mostly of West African descent. Who have excelled at and dominated sprinting and power sports for decades. Notice in the Olympics you see Asians gravitating to sports which don't require speed and power such as table tennis, archery, shooting etc.. There is a reason for this.

@@ZeroOneZero-bi1ww Well, I'm actually of black Jamaican descent myself with both parents being born and raised in Jamaica. I have that 'sprint gene' myself. I am an avid Athletics and Basketball fan and cheer on any Jamaican / Caribbean athlete. However, when applying statistics to the subject in hand, people mostly look to statistical norms. In a nut shell most people within any given population stand around the mean. Then you have some extremely poor ones, and then some extremely good ones. Given the Chinese population is literally hundreds of times bigger than the Jamaican population, those that fall into the extremely good ones will number in the hundreds more than Jamaicans, increasing the chance of a Chinese Olympic 100m champion. OK, we have not seen that yet of course, but going back even 20 years ago to most people it would have been unthinkable for a Chinese man to run sub 10, but yet now we see it every championship. I think given this, it is only a matter of time before a Chinese guy is crowned Olympic 100m champion . . . . but I know you don't agree with that.

Bro, look at development of olympic records back then, there were barely any sub 10 seconds even in 1988. The difference is coaching and confidence and mentality + explosive genetics. Which asian population has a high percentage of. We have the talent pool, even if it's less ideal than africans due to our longer torso, the huge population makes up for it due to genetic variety.
China just started it's development and GDp per capita is still 13k, They were most of population in poverty.
lack of nutrition. lack of coaching. USA GDp is more than 5x China. while CHina population is 5x USA.
Chinese people are explosive, but it's a luxury to be able to train for olympics. A lot of the population talent has to be overlooked when they have such a strict selection process for athletics. Imagine not being chosen because your parents are too short. They probably will focus on school due to this lack of belief and confidence stemming from already this low-risk high-return approach (which i believe is due to their low GDP so they don't have to fund as much for a competitive olympics athletes.
I hope Chinese culture starts to focus on sports as the GDP grows like in the americas where high schools face off competitively with good coaching and funding. I hope it becomes an integral part of the system to develop talent. Rather than the current highly selective method that seems to focus on minimizing monetary investment on return.
Even now, our coaching is still need improvement (maybe)
But su bingtian literally found an american coach which figured out how to improve Su bingtian's time and what to focus on for improvement and got him to 9.83
Africans are gifted in explosiveness. but Asians are as well. Even if asians tend to have longer torso relative to which is not optimal for sprinting. There are a lot of factors. And Su bingtian proved that by focusing on acceleration due to his shorter legs relative to body and lower center of gravity.
The culture of chinese people were to escape poverty through education and development. Not focus on sports.
Diet was very lacking as well, which meant less growth. less size, and less muscle and less emphasis on sports. That's why you don't see the athleticism in a lot of Asian. They focus on academics. This caused people to stereotype, and also our own confidence was probably hurt which is a self fulfilling prophecy, which means people don't try in sports. Why would they when they believe they won't be good?
I think it's starting to change, and we will see a lot more sprinters that can be competitive in the newer generation as our nutrition improves.
As far as african aamerican culture, they focus 90% on athletics and sports. 10% in academics (or something like that idk)...
But a lot of potential can still be found. Our GDp is still very low per capita, and we have a lot of room and more talent to find and bloom.

This changed after Caribbean countries received independence. Asian success in athletics is purely dependent on juice.

Here's the reality, in general African Americans are more successful than Chinese if you compare gdp. But in reality, African Americans do not study Asians at all.
