The first things I will always do first is to check for any mil codes, then I check all fuses. My Jeep GC 4.7L engine stalled at a busy intersection that I was going through last Saturday, it was as if the ignition key was switched off. I had a PO320 code - crank position sensor. I changed both the crank and cam sensors and the Jeep is running fine. This is a cool video, thanks for presenting.
God bless you. People are out here living paycheck-to-paycheck. I just used your video to diagnose a Jeep for someone that works hard but just doesn't have the money to get it towed and have a shop do it! Thank you
This may help some of you, I had the same issue and couldn’t figure it out for months. Finally went and worked on it today and discovered my 10 amp PCM fuse was blown. Replaced it and boom started right up. Hope this helps some of you
I have the same jeep with the same symptoms. Checked fuel pressure, weak (original pump @ 158k miles) changed the fuel pump. Started a few times and died. Checked the cam sensor, good. Was about to check the crank but ran across your video. Much easier to check that relay than that dam crank sensor. Will update later. Thanks for the video! Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Great video! Very Helpful. I have the same problem as David Moyer stated below. I own a 2003 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7L. It has a hard start. I too have paid mechanics to fix the problem but to no avail. I have had the following repairs/replacements done: new battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, starter, new spark plugs. The pressure holds. Sometimes it starts like a charm and sometimes its difficult to start. Please advise and keep up the great videos.
We have 3 jeeps, 98, 00, 04. Thanxs a ton for this info brother. Im headed to HF in the am to grab tester kits. Paying forward your knowledge is greatly appreciated!
No fuel, No spark on a 2002 4.7L V8. Had no 24 VDC on the 15A injector fuse, and the 30A fuse in the video had power. Jumpered ASD Relay (At about 16:00 in video) contacts 87 to 30 (contact side of the relay), and it fired right up. Would have never figured this one out without your video. Thank you!
@@OnlineAutoRepairVideos ok, cause the relay has some charge, but the actual fuse has no charge at all key on or off. So should i jump the fuse connections and see if it would start? Or how should I go about the diagnostics. The actual fuse wasn't bad either, so it never even blew. Just stopped providing power to it.
Hi I have a jeep Cherokee larado 04 and its not starting at all it just clicks but it's not dead the radio lights windows everything is normal except for the fact that it won't start I got a a jump charged the battery and even swapped out the starter and it still nothing do you have any idea what it could be I would appreciate any suggestions!!

Once cranked it runs fine but it is a devil tonget it started. Parts I have changed so far is the following: 1) fuel pump and filter 2) crankshaft position sensor 3) camshaft position sensor 4) throttle position sensor 5) map sensor 6) radiator fan relay Don't know what else to check. Also we have noticed if you shut down all electrical stuff on the car it cranks up faster.. Need help with thos one, my wife's car.
good fix, maybe the issue might have been that battery cable being loose and coming out and shorting out the fuse. thats low stealing the fuse and replacing their burnt out fuse for the new one
I have similar jeep 2000 4.7 and i think i have a short somwhere on fuse #26 for the fuel injectors. My asd relay keeps blowing out and when testing the volts on fuse#26 goes from 12 to .05 and the relay starts clicking like crazy and wont stop even with the key taken out then relay blows and no more power to fuse 26. Any ideas???
Hey what was the problem with that noise inside the car. It sounds like something I have in the same Jeep like the doors to the heater box are binding up or something. I appreciate your videos let me know what you found thanks. Thumbs up and subscribed!!!

The weird noise is the blend door for the heater box. When you turn off the car after about 30 seconds the actuator will let the door go back to a park position . At startup it will go back to where it was set.

When the key is in the START position, you have to find out if there is 12 volts at the small wire on the starter. Once you find this out, let us know.

Now I know what's wrong with mine. It's been at the shop for a month. I got it back and it happened again day 1. They changed the pcm and ecu. Did flashes. Changed that fuse. Didn't change the relay...
That is your heater- A/C actuators and the control module hunting for the position of the blend doors. usually it is a sign that the blend door actuators have cracked or broken plastic drivers. The real pain about fixing this problem is that you have to remove the dashboard to get at the heater-A/C box. One of the actuators that breaks most frequently is located on the rear (firewall side) of the unit. The heater unit must be removed from the firewall to access that actuator. After the key is turned off, the control module ( your automatic controls that you adjust) on the center of the dashboard, "hunts" or checks the calibration of the blend doors. If nothing is broken, the control module will reach the end of the swing and stop. Upon reaching the end of the swing, the voltage feedback will change telling the control module that it is at the end of swing. But if the actuator driver is cracked or busted, it won't properly sense the end of travel. Thereby, the actuator will continue to be driven causing that rubbing sound.Much of the time people think the blend doors themselves are bad. Most of the time they aren't. I experienced this problem with a few Jeep's heaters. What I found that works really well is putting a 5/8" washer on that white plastic driver on the actuator. The driver is 5/8" in diameter, so a 5/8" (inside hole) washer fits snugly on the driver. Once I put the heater unit back together, I recalibrate the control module ( there is a simple 5 step procedure to perform to do that). After that , the heater should perform like it should.
