Cant wait for an episode on Sennecke as a lot of people are also putting him as a mock draft for the 14th pick for the Sharks. All these draft profiles have been so solid so far. Continue the good work JD!
The only trade Sharks should be looking at is a possible trade up from 14 to grab Zeev Buium. Although I suspect the Ducks may grab him at 3 given his talent and given he’s from San Diego which makes him a relatively local kid.
Something I’d like SJ to do is address SIZE. You look at the teams left in the playoffs and they have size. You need to be able to win those cliche battles. Yes SJ needs forward help, but I’d like to focus defense before offense. The next two years have A LOT of good defenseman hitting the market especially. For example someone like Brenden Dillon but I also like someone with offensive upside like Brandon Montour. A lot of options SJ can play with money wise. I like the Necas thought. Carolina has a lot of UFA’s coming up
THIS. Glad someone finally mentioned it. If we're going to go aggressive on signings, go defense and more importantly, if we're playing this scenario, BRANDON MONTOUR is the guy.
Marner is an intriguing thought but with potential of Celebrini Smith Musty and Eklund being high cost in the near future bookmarking 11-12 mil for Marner who is known to be soft doesn’t seem logical for Grier
I obviously don’t think think marner would be traded here but I think it’s not a bad idea to take on some of his salary if you can get 1 or 2 picks as a third team involved if a trade occurs.
Of all of these, I’d love Ehlers. He’s one of my favorite players and would potentially be the cheapest one to acquire. That said, I’m with the rest of the comment section, do this in a few years when we start to push for the playoffs, this year trade for guys with bad contracts from teams that need cap relief and take on more assets
Grier needs to just do 2-3 years deals, no 6-8 year contracts yet. Grier said he isn’t going to be signing any players to those super long contracts. We need to look at vets who are overpaid and have a couple yrs left on their contract. You could get those guys for free or even get draft capital back potentially depending on the situation. I’m sure there are a few of those guys out there
It's important to have a proven veteran offensive player to relieve pressure off the youngsters. Suppose the team is in an offensive slump, it's important to have that vet take the brunt of the pressure so the youngsters don't have to.
Should the sharks use trade some of their cap space to take on large one year from other teams to acquire draft picks and shed some of the AHL players, i.e., ozzy. The players they acquire can be used to help our new prospects and then be moved at trade deadline. This was one of the moves Doug did in the past
No Marner. I’m dating a Maple Leafs fan. I’ve seen more of the Leafs this past year than the Sharks. Marner is good during the regular season when you can be a perimeter play but come playoff time he is easily defendable. No dice. I’d rather see GMMG overpay a vet and bring in as many rookies as possible.
I would say maybe look at Tavares as well I think with Toronto circumstances they would jump at a Tavares trade however Tavares may shoot the idea with his no trade
I'd much rather gamble and not get a guy like Marner as a UFA next offseason than give up significant future assets to bring him in now. If we trade for him there's a possibility, especially with him waiving his NMC, that we're able to re-sign him. However, if we trade for him and he walks after this season then we exchanged a bunch of assets to get one year of a great player when, if anything, we don't want great players. Maybe we can flip him at the TDL but he still has complete control over where he goes so it might be difficult to move him and we might get significantly less than we spent on him. Let's say we flip him and the net difference is we lose pick 14 in the draft, then pick 14 ends up as a guy we'd probably have taken like Jiricek and he ends up as a good top pairing defenseman. Would you rather have 3/4 of a season of Marner and pick later next year or would you rather have a long term top pairing defenseman?
I would be against something like the trades listed. it has taken too long to acquire the assets we have and I think a more patient approach makes more sense and is something GMMG is on track to do. No hate here just do not think these trades are a good idea right now. Like other comments maybe later in the rebuild. Love the content though.
Sorry but literally NO way Grier goes for Marner. Youd have to pay him a fortune to keep past next year, and we have some stars that will need to be paid relatively soon
Sharks should avoid a high end player until after next year. Get another high draft pick then go all in. Just my 2 cents. Good show!

Smart, bigger & stronger. G & D take longer to develop...😅

One positive of signing Martin Necas would be that Burnsey could get his old #88 back!
And you know, getting a good player.

For a team that struggles defensively, Cychrun would be the logical deal

Not 100% sure but I’m pretty sure Marner is really close with Marleau so maybe if he wants to reunited with Marleau.
If Celebrini and Smith sign would it be a option to try and obtain some veteran leadership eg sign Stamkos if he makes free agency
I'd love STamkos, but im pretty sure hes said we wants to win
I would love the Chychrun depending on the price. We NEED D, BAD!

Marner would be the ideal player, but only if it doesn’t cost us Eklund.
Yep it’s May… don’t see any of these
It's fun! But I'm right there too
Mitch Marner - Hell no!
🍺👍🏽
