Man, I feel like a lot of people missed the point of this video. Yeah, you need the tools to do it, but if you're the DIY type, chances are you have already invested in these tools. So it makes more sense to use what you invested in vs going out and buying some expensive spring compressor to do the job.
I was playing with similar ideas I’d seen years ago, but am losing patience in my old age (50’s). I’m not so impatient to pay someone else, but if I’m going to MacGyver something, I now look to TH-cam for somewhere to start. You my friend have all he characteristics of a “TINKERER”. You pulled things apart as a kid and sometimes couldn’t get them back together. By the power vested in me by the ITSBITS (International Tinkerers Society of Bloody Interesting Thinking Solvers). I pronounce you a Master Tinkerer, Automobile Mechanical, Engines. And that’s based on this one video. Welcome to the tinkerer community, All Hail MacGyver, this meeting now adjourned.
Well worth it for him n people in his situation .. Found some for $ 17 free shipping if you have the time n money.. Hand clamp n press on without taking off the head . just single one at a time . the sell double ones for $35-55 free shipping some are bolt on like in the video.
WoooooW. I wish I saw this earlier, but it is still going to be very useful. I modified a tool already, but this is much better. I'm going to go with the nut route, it should make it super easy.
VATS & base tune If you live in the Atlanta area I disable the VATS security for LS swapped vehicles and provide a base tune that will disable other non used features on the PCM.
Dam dude this is the best one I’ve seen yet. Cheapest too. I was literally just about to buy one that does exactly that for $40 next weekend. Not no more!
Measure from edge to edge, instead of imaginary center to imaginary center?! Good video and good idea! im gonna make this myself for my 2.8, i just ported my heads, and something tells me im going to be using this more than once in my near future
Thanks for nice video. Came here looking for something other than a cheap OTC Autozone loaner and you did not disappoint1 Tell me what rod you used to weld that cast HF clamp? If it had nickel in it, did you use a respirator!?
I have a dremel and i'd buy a clamp, but i'm not sure if jb weld would work? I'm not welding all that. But if you want to ship me that, i'll ship it back(?)
Wow! Going to the store and buying a gold plated spring compressor would end up being cheaper than all the other tooling and welder along with fabrication time. But great work.
Nice design...how about you cut the top of the Bolt....thread 2 Nuts into each other on the top so that you can Ratchet the pressure on and off...or better yet use a socket on an Impact tool and eliminate the turning the C clamp Twisty thing !
Everything was going just fine until he said “a welder” agrrrr I don’t have one nor I can use it, but I will learn is in my list great wisdom my friend thanks for sharing
You could easily do this without a welder. Instead of using the C clamp, you could cut a similar shaped piece from steel or aluminum plate. The bottom would then be bolted to the plate that is between the rocker mounts. And you would tap a hole for a bolt that would press down on the plate that presses the retainers.
If you need to cut a tool and spend time drilling and welding I think it's better of buying a proper tool because if you're doing that for a living pretty sure your customers wouldn't be impressed at all.
How do you think the 'proper' tools came about?? By someone having an idea and building it in their garage(like he just did), then selling their tool idea to a tool company.....
Adriano Veragara, you must be naive to think that all the tools out there just magically appeared one day..... SMH this literally is how specialty tools came about. People got creative just because you lack the skills to do the same doesnt mean everyones ideas are bad ones. #builtnotbought

Best and most simple ls spring compressor for the DIY'r I've seen! Headed to the garage now! Thanks!👍

Like most folk, I've got everything necessary to make that right now. Thanks for the idea. Simple is best.
I see why this is the top recommendation , Thank You
Great idea! Had everything I needed and whipped it up in an hour or so, worked great!
Awesome idea, had the stuff laying around my garage. works great.

I made me one and put a 12mm craftsman socked on the end of the clamp. Hooks to 3/8 drive impact now.
Simple yet efficient!!! Genius!!!
Hell yeah this video is gold, thanks brother man, great job
I'm gonna make one this weekend. Thanks!!!
Dam dude this is the best one I’ve seen yet. Cheapest too. I was literally just about to buy one that does exactly that for $40 next weekend. Not no more!
Genius! Well done!
Cheap fix for 3 bucks plus a $500 welder, nice vid bro
Great Job Sir!

Thanks for saving me some money! 👍👍
YOU ARE GENIUSSSS BRO
The threads on the c clamp are tapered and smooth for easy turning but you can us a large nut and a bolt by adding a stationary handle to the bolt
Fricken awesome bro.
I was just gonna say weld a nut on top so u can put your impact on it. Good job
Good job man you are really Excellent 👍👍
Nice !!! Thank you !!!
i like it man thanks!
Thanks Shane 👌🇨🇦🤘
Luv that ideal on it

Fantastic
good idea
awesome!
Thankyou
Sweet! Would be perfect if you're doing the job on the car! Nice work. 👍
Genius!
Should do a video on the LS crankshaft pulley puller.
Nice!
Very smart
Good idea... but its oly for LS... I'll kee using my universal OTC that can do any head. Good job on the fab.
Thanks for saving me 80 bucks!
The best
You fucking awesome never thought of that
Nice nice
Do u know roughly the dimensions and drill hole sizes of the plate u made that gets the collets out, u r a legend 😬
I have a dremel and i'd buy a clamp, but i'm not sure if jb weld would work? I'm not welding all that. But if you want to ship me that, i'll ship it back(?)

I mean, my welder and fabrication equipment has probably paid for itself 10x over at this point. 🤷♂️
All depends on whether or not you already have all the equipment you need.
FKN GENIOUS!!
How big is the holes u cut for the spring holes
Simple, yet easy to make... would mig do, I don't own a tig at the moment?
Yeah, should be fine.
Will you show us how well the Supra performs after you get the other turbo? I'm curious how good it accelerate's now.
It’s super laggy on the 4294r but pulls pretty hard on top end. Dialed it in at about 14lbs of boost.
Do you have high compression
Nice design...how about you cut the top of the Bolt....thread 2 Nuts into each other on the top so that you can Ratchet the pressure on and off...or better yet use a socket on an Impact tool and eliminate the turning the C clamp Twisty thing !
Oppps.... I should have watched to the very end !
Liked/Subscribed !
I would have weld the bracket to the clamp
What size were those bolts ??
VERY CLEVER
Whats the bolt size? Thanks in advance
Cool but i already bought one but it was fairly cheap
I have everything except for a welder 😢.....how to make a weldingless tool?
What size are the holes
Do you have the measurements for the 2 plates drilled holes?
tht is sweet lol ;)
Yeah. I think I will just buy one...🤣
BRILLIANT! measurement for the plate would be super handy so can built it before i get started . cheers
Bro! How much to send me one? I don't have a welder.
Would you be willing to sell them?
Everything was going just fine until he said “a welder” agrrrr I don’t have one nor I can use it, but I will learn is in my list great wisdom my friend thanks for sharing
Willy Will jb weld !!!!!!!

Can I borrow it
good idea but wo a welder or material laying around like that it would be more expensive to build it.
Would love to do this but without a welder it makes the 60 to $100 option look really nice :(
Wanna sell one. I don’t have a welder
All that work when you can just buy a goddamn valve compressor for 20 bucks on Amazon
or you can buy the correct tool for 10$
I can use your earrings
American Ingenuity - MAGA !
You are a bad man but that’s a lot of pressure for one isn’t it
U talking $3 ???? Just the C clamp alone is more than that
$2.99 at harbor freight 🤙
