  • What do the words ANSI Z133, Prusik, Chain Brake and Co-dominant mean to you? Probably not a whole lot unless you work in the tree care industry. They probably weren't words Ron used very often prior to joining Seattle Tree Care and beginning his path towards becoming an arborist. In this video you will get an upfront and personal experience as we join Ron on his first day in the field with Seattle Tree Care.
Under the wise and experienced tuteledge of crew lead Mike, you will get a first hand account of some of the things you would face on your first day as a greenhorn. A greenhorn is someone that is new or inexperienced. You have to start at the bottom to get to the top and the bottom in this job is grounds crew.
Watch as Arne expertly removes this rotting backyard threat from the bucket truck while Mike teaches Ron the basics of a chainsaw, from how to gas it up to starting and making his first cut. Once the team carefully removes the tree they cut rounds for the homeowner who has further uses for the wood.
Before getting to the task at hand you'll also get a sneak peak at some behind the scenes footage from a well known company in the realm of power tools. Milwaukee Tools featured Seattle Tree Care in the marketing videos for their new line of power tools for Arborists. Mike even plays some air guitar.
Sit back and enjoy our last video of 2023 and don't forget to like and subscribe.

By the time Ron is told his earmuffs work better when they're on his ears, he looks so excited and so overwhelmed at the same time :D I know that feeling! Great first day introduction. I love that you guys are big on safety

Be sure to wrap your thumb on the saw. Important safety consideration when teaching. Great job showing the greenhorn basics, especially under a camera, I know I’d probably be making a ton of mistakes.

I remember when my brother taught me how to use a chainsaw for the first time as a kid - I was equally excited and terrified. But I'm glad it was ages ago 😉
