    The FN High Power was one of the first guns I wanted to get my hands on at Shot Show 2022.
    There are a lot of questions about this gun, so I made a b line to the FN booth to get those questions answered.

      That is the problem I feel they face in the market. It is a bad hybrid of old and new tech. So they left all the things that needed to be corrected from the original… SA made those changes and a superior gun

    • @PilotTed
      @PilotTed 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't they say they corrected the issues that the OG had like a better grip that doesn't bite your thumb, more ammo, and a better slide removal system. What problems haven't been corrected? If anything, they missed out on giving it an Optics cut and a 1913 rail, so its barely been modernized, and is defiantly not at all worth 1k-1.3k. If they wanted to make a modern Hi-Power, it really needs a optic cut and 1913 rail, but even if it had it, 1k is fairly steep price.

    • @B61Mod12
      @B61Mod12 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PilotTed Opinion: Position of the safety is poor (it is back way too far). The dust cover is so smooth and curved that you can't anchor your support hand thumb (right handed) anywhere on the frame reliably without it sliding clean off the frame with every shot. It creates the naturally tendency to try to get your support thumb up higher which leads to your thumb either creating friction on the slide, or bumping the slide stop up, both of which create a stoppage. Better trigger and magazine capacity really are the only gains worth mentioning.... so congratulations, now you have a $1200 gun which might perform on par with a $700 CZ 75.

    I bought a Browning Hi-Power in 1975 at an Army Rod and Gun Store in Germany for $181.00. I sold it to a fellow soldier, a helicopter crewman, for $125. Word got around; shortly after the sale my battery executive officer passed by and said, "Garrett, you idiot, I'd have given you $150". That pistol today is worth $1207.40.

    I have a 1938 Belgian-made Hi-Power that was my grandfather's, and it's gorgeous. I don't know how I feel about this one - I'm left-handed and the original is SUPER righty so ambi controls are great... I don't care about no rail, and I'm fine with Iron sights, but a price of two CZ75's seems excessive. Market price will probably drop some to be the same as a SIG-P226, and I'm guessing build quality is similar, but won't know until they're widely available to shoot.

      Its still a Hi power, most of it's features are the same, it just been modernized with modern ergonomics, a different style of take down, and more ammo capacity. I'm fairly disappointed it has no optics slot cut or a 1913 rail though, if they wanted to modernize the Hi-Power, they should have done that. If you already own a Hi-Power, there is almost no incentive to get this one, especially with its price point and the fact it only has slightly better ergo with 4 extra rounds. Not really worth 1000-1300 or what ever its actually going to go for in retail. I would rather go for the single/double action CZ that has the 1913 rail and is half the price.

    I still occasionally shoot my Belgian made Browning HiPower and enjoy every time I do . I bought that pistol new in 1971 , did a ton of hi quality work on it and it was my primary off duty carry gun into the 1990's. I've owned and sh I t a l I t of different pistols , but this will always be a keeper . Just seeing the new version makes me excited like a kid at Christmas . Can't wait for them to hit the market. If it shoots as good as it looks , I'll probably bite the bullet and get one . It seems that everything I did to my original HiPower in customization , has been already done to this pistol at the FN shop. Great video !!!
