13:05:00 Plot twist(based on canon story; see MTG articles on official website). The PWs didn't actually have enough mana to channel and trap Emrakul in the Moon using the scroll, so Emrakul herself took over Tamiyo and boosted Tamiyo's power multiple-fold by giving her the Ulti, so that She could take a vacation in the Silver Moon. This caused Tamiyo to feel sick for days, and Jace to be terribly confused why Emmara allowed herself to be defeated. It appeared that Emrakul/Emmara felt that it was not yet the right time for Her to continue her dominance over the Multiverse, and also maybe She needed time to prepare to bring back Ulamog and Kozilek, to fix the stupid damage the PWs had done by killing them.
Yea, i think it's pretty obvious Ulamog and Kozolek arn't actually dead, because if fuckin Ugin and Bolas can just ignore death, I think the lovecraftian space horrors who also work as the Ur-Dragon's Janitors can re-grow their arms.
@@entothechesnautknight1762 oh they're super alive. Like the "hand in the water and we're the fish" analogy. "We" the fish, bites of the hand but the person is still very much alive. We just don't know because we only see the water
It may also be a matter of learning. Perhaps she knew if she was thought by all to be "imprisoned", she could continue to do as she pleased without need to fight at all. This is somewhat evident with cards like Ulvenwald Oddity // Ulvenwald Behemoth. The moon seems have an even more eerie influence upon the creatures of Innistrad nowadays..
I love how the only planeswalker who gives remotely a shit about Zendikar being completely ravage by the Eldrazi is Gideon, the only person who didn't fuck with Zendikar in the first place.
Tamiyo was actually going to nuke Innistrad with a scroll spell that does something like Akroma's Vengenace, a board wipe. Except Emrakul rewrote the scroll spell to send herself to the moon so she could wait in stasis until "the time is right for her return," except more cryptic. Tamiyo is spooked.
That was so good. It's been a while since I've been able to play MTG, but I've always enjoyed reading the excerpts at the bottom of each card. Even as a kid. This was so exciting for me and at times funny. Thanks, keep it up.
A minor correction: Chandra didn't kill Kozilek and Ulamog by setting the leylines on fire. Simple-minded she might be, but it was a little more complicated. They all had this mindmeld thing going on facilitated by Jace and Nissa; it's how they cooked up the leyline-reality-snare thing to begin with, right? Nissa, being an animist, or THE Animist, really(her magic centered around communicating with and being empowered by the Worldsouls of the planes she visits), essentially asks Zendikar to borrow its mana. ALL its mana. The entire plane. And acting like a conduit, she channels the volatile, wild magic of Zendikar into the body of Chandra, who uses the inhuman and extremely unstable pool of mana to blow the Eldrazi the fuck up. The Gatewatch literally casts Channel into Fireball, in something of a callback to old Magic. But if you want to reference the present cards, it would be Channel into Fall of the Titans. Which, in fact, almost kills Chandra and leaves her without functioning legs for a while.
@@torysaccount5753 Essentially, yeah. At least, for a numerical value high enough to kill a 10/10 and a 12/12 in one go. Chandra being in constant pain and crippled for a few weeks after the casting was probably a callback to mana burn being an old mechanic as well; whatever mana she channeled and didn't use burned her on its way out of her mana pool.
alright you glorious man i have been debating reading the mtg story for a little bit now but after watching all your videos i need to. i know this would be better with context
In my head cannon, the phyrexiabs get tamiyo and think they could use emrakul for nefarious purposes. They get tamiyo to unseal the moon, emrakul is like, " this isn't part of the plan" and then obliterates the phyrexians. Basically, I just really want something to come of tamiyo being phyrexian
Sorin actually did help with the hedrons. They were supposed to need someone to make them (nahiri), and someone to cast soul/blood magic on them using ugins colorless magic as a catalyst that would allow the caster to affect the eldrazi's colorless forms and actually bind their essences to the plane. Pretty sure it was sorins at the time 2 or 3 thousand years of sangromancy.
Your MTG content and history lessons in 15 minutes are hysterical. I have never laughed harder. You are a hilarious guy. You earned this sub. I wish you many more to come.
It's nice to have an accurate version what what happened between sorin and Nahiri out there in this kind of summery video. Really tired of people trying to justify Nahiri's Planar genocide, was nice to just Hear that Nahiri lured Emrakul to the plane for revenge for once, and you did it in a damn entertaining way to boot.
Fantastic video! However... there is one issue toward the end of the story. The Gatewatch didnt """Technically" send her into the moon. Most were too busy getting Mind Melted by Emrakul. Emrakul posessed Tamiyo, REWROTE ANCIENT MAGIC OF THE SCROLL SHE CARRIED, and locked herself in the moon till "Innistrad is ready." So yes it was them but Emrakul was the one pulling the strings and arranging it herself.
Two things: Ulamog and Kozilek were killed by the channel fireball combo. Emrakul saw that Innistraad wasn't ready to be rebuilt because Ulamog and Kozilek hadn't processed it yet. (Emrakul is the creator of all things according to the Raven man.) Emrakul talked to jace about it, said she had gotten bored, effortlessly took over Tamiyo's mind, rewrote tamiyo's forbidden scroll to be a sealing spell and forced tamiyo to seal her in the moon (which is why her card from that set allows you to take another player's turn) because she wanted to wait until Innistraad was ready to be rebuilt.
The banter ending with okay boomer and then just stick some rocks in a circle def had me laughing. I've been playing since 7th edition when I was a kid, and I used to read the fat pack books religiously but stopped around the akroma or timespiral books I think and fell off the lore and game. This video is like watching a train wreck like wtf is happening but can't stop watching with all the stuff I don't know. I've read as much as I can about the eldrazi tho and love it and just wanted to see a new video about them and not disappointed:)
i was SURE that tamiyo was mind controlled by emracool to "banish" Emracool into the moon through manipulating a spell she already had available in her satchel.
Alrighty, first AWESOME EDITING!!!! Second, WOW you are really great at passing info in a very fun and interesting way!!! CANT wait for more man, congrats
this is very cool content! in my opinion it would be better if you can slow the slide video a little maybe even 10%-15% would be perfect. as of now some of them are too fast and I had to pause multiple times to see.
